Hi fellow Marth players! I think that the Marth boards are very nice and inviting and we could make it even more like that if we knew more about everyone. So if you want to, post anything you want about yourself. Your name, playstyle, how you found Marth, did you play melee, etc. I think that would be cool and inviting to new members that use Marth. And no I'm not a stalker. Thanks in advance.

Alright, I've always been one for socializing.

Without going into lots of detail about my whole Melee history, I played lots of Marth, and eventually he settled to be my main, as I came to start playing competitively (which was LATE). From there, I was going to switch over to MK as my main in Brawl, as I've always loved him, but my bond with Marth was secure, I was a Ken fanboy in melee (and he really inspired me to play Marth, and play competitively) and you guys were just awesome enough that I love the Marth board, and so I stay Marth. In fact, it's gotten to a point where I don't play anyone else in tourney (I can play other characters well)

My real name is Daniel, which is why my gamer tag is Dan. I go by Pierce, for a very simple reason. Before, I went by Furon, and I decided that it was getting outdated, so I decided to switch. I wanted something with 'P' and me and my friend tossed up suggestions. He said Pierce, and I liked it, so I kept it. Pierce7d is never taken on any website, because there's a number in the middle of the word, as opposed to the end. 7 is my favorite number, 'd' is the first letter on my name.

Sometimes, you'll also see my tag as 7d, instead of Dan. Recently, I acquired the tag ZB!7D, because my crew is the Zodiac Braves, so most of us have taken to putting zB in their tag, followed by a punctuation mark and then two characters to represent themselves, as a crew pride kinda thing.

I play fast and sloppy, always attacking, and i'm getting into the habbit of only guarding when i can get a shield grab, other than that i parry (instinct from third strike abuse)

i try to get ppl in the air and then either Bair or Dair. if i can Fair them away then i will, but i think its not as reliable cus they can get out of it.

and every time i shield break (fully charged) i yell out HADOOKEN!!! i swear it does more dmg

LMAO,

Anyways...

People call me ZMT for short. I started Marth back in Melee in about 2003. I just liked him, I dont know why, I guess its cause he is so fun to play as. Its as if you get to tell the developers exactly what you want in a character and they gave it to us Marth players. Otherwise, I enjoy the feeling that I accomplished something when I play Smash. That is another reason I pick Marth, he is really good but you have to work for his strength.

When I first started Brawl I played Marth like his Melee form. I got ***** like....very hard. Now months later I am still trying to find my exact playstyle. I tend to get overagressive sometimes, which is my biggest problem. I learned not to run into snakes ftilts

Anyway, I do play other games as well. My biggest game is Pokemon lulz. Im actually well respected in competitive Pokemon Battling and such. I also play SC4 (which is awesome) and Zelda games sparingly.

My brother follows competitive Pokemon as a minor hobby, and he's a small fan of yours. He doesn't play though.

I didn't play much melee since i don't own a gamecube. Mainly ssb64, right up until brawl came out. I think I probably play a better MK (only used him about 10 times) than marth, but I believe playing marth will teach me to improve much more than playing MK, which is the main reason I stick with him.

Playstyle? I don't think I've gotten to the point where I can establish a clear playstyle yet, I just try to keep my options open and look for weaknesses/mindgames on the opponent. I've been told I have a very patient playstyle, but I think I need to work on my pressure game and knowing when to rushdown.

Played lots of Melee. Had the game since launch, but I unaware of the competitive community until 2007. LAME. Mained Marth in Melee as well. As for my Brawl playstyle, it's kinda hard to describe. I could be patient and play campy or play agressive depending on what's happening.

A cookie for anyone who can guess my first name =P

Name's Alex. I'm Asian.

I played melee but not too much. I never perfected shffl (missed the L cancel half of the time) or wavedash but i mained marth.

I play according to my opponent, when i play with my cousin's I go rush down style and pressure them at lot. When I play the computer sometimes I have to play reactively because the comps can powershield a lot and do stupid stuff like attacking between DB hits.

As of yet, I haven't played anybody in brawl that can help me step my game up, my cousin's are scrubs and my only other opponents are comps so i haven't made much improvement in the time that i've had
brawl.

I chose marth because i liked roy in melee for his fire attacks and sword. I made the switch to marth when i started playing competitively with my cousins and friends in melee since he has a carbon copy moveset with different properties, plus hes fast and has a sword. I like swords more than hand to hand.

edit: is your name anthony?

Awesome, this is a cool thread.

Hopefully you all know me by now, 95% of my posts go into the Marth forums. You can call me Nib, Dan, whatever you'd like.

I've been playing melee as long as I can remember. Believe it or not, I used to main Young Link as late as last year. My friend always said that he was the best player he knew, and he played Falco. So we had a match, and I lost. I chose Marth after that battle just because I thought he was nifty, and I won. Things went uphill from there.

As for my playstyle, I used to be aggressive and careless, but now I'm much more of a timid player and I like to watch my opponent act before I make a set of options for myself.

Oh, and for anyone who cares....Snorlax = most epic thing in my life. Pokemon has gotten a little out of hand IMO, but Snorlax will always be the best haha.

I hope to get to know you all better =]

Back in the Melee days (most likely before people got super serious with Fox), I thought Roy was like the best.
I tried out Marth and I was disappointed that his sword didn't freeze anything.
I stuck with Roy like the n00b I was.

Then I saw pro battles.
Holy crap, Marth is good.
I still hadn't gotten the techs down, but I tried using Roy anyway.
He did NOT perform like Marth did.
I quit Roy.

A lot of time later, I picked him up again.
I was sort of good, but I thought I was best.
I could've killed me so easily. (I hope you understand)
Anyway, I dropped Melee completely for a long while, playing Brawl and getting good.
I tried Marth on Brawl and thought "What the crap, he's worse than before AND he looks even MORE like a girl.....no way I'm maining him."
So, after months I went back to Melee and tried out the techs.
WOW, those things are sick.
For some reason l-canceling just wasn't clicking before, and now it's like I automatically know which move to use and when.
I destroy with Melee Marth, I KNOW I could take on M2K.
It would be a close match either way.

Anyhow....
I picked him up on Brawl and thought "What was I thinking, this guy is incredible!" so I dropped Ike.
That went on for a while.

Here I am now.
Maining Ike, Marth, Falco, Ness, and Fox.
All of them are good and haven't lost much at all.
On Melee, I'd say that M2K level can be reached, but I can't play him simply because he's probably got like a billion 'friends'.
I've got a decent Fox, a decent Falco, and a fantastic Marth.
None of these mains have ever been defeated.

Unless I'm proven otherwise, I'm the best that Jackson TN has to offer, and I'm nothing like anyone would expect from a mere kid/teenager.

First of all I'm not gonna say my name

I found Marth back in Melee...8 months ago. My smash skill is horrible, but that's not going to stop me. When I first played Melee I played as Fox (didn't know tiers back then-I just loved his gun). Then when I unlocked Marth his movements and style was and still is appealing to me. I try my best to apply whatever I need into my Marth. I usually play defensive, but I tend to get aggressive over time, which is something I'm trying to fix. I've got no one to play, unfortunately, so I'm forced to use WiFi as my means of practice, and Marth sucks on WiFi. This isn't gonna help me much, but it's a step. If nothing else I go to training mode and try to learn Marth's tip range and whatnot. Although Level 9s are the only things giving me some competition offline, after playing them a bit I find them stupidly predictable and their recoveries are also pretty easy to gimp.

Anyways, people know me as Jibaku from Smogon.com. Yes, I play competitive Pokemon (kind of bored of it though, with all the unstable tiers and Garchomp and whatnot, but you know if you need me I'm still no pushover). I'm a moderator there. And VietGeek are you Leebui? Because umm you mentioned Dodrio lol.

Names Jun, friends call me Jun or junk.

Main marth... cause f-air is too sexy. Actually he's one of the few characters that can go from 0 to high percentage fairly quickly (aka bring the ****). Main Marth melee too.

Other than that my 64 skills are way beyond my melee and brawl skills but I'm competitive in the newer 2... My favorite is playing kirby noobs who think they're good because they can do an ez combo or grab whores who think their ness/dk/pikachu is unstoppable :D

Hello, I'm Matt

*Crowd says "hi matt"*

If you expect me to say I'm an alcoholic, keep waiting.

Not that I don't party, lol. Just never drink alone. I'd have to be able to party, considering that I'm a prospective frat boy, rushing in the upcoming semester.

So anyway, I'm a college student, a dual major, one of which is a social science/liberal arts (depending on who you ask), and the other is an engineering major. I also almost minored in vocal performance. I'm also a certifiable genius.

Martial arts is my biggest hobby, definitely more so then gaming. I've studied a number of different styles (I previously mentioned the ones which had swordfighting in the EL chat thread, but that's only the tip of the iceberg for me). I do compete in MMA stuff when I can as well, in addition to just training.

How do I play Marth? Actually, almost exactly the way I do martial arts. I abuse my spacing, staying just outside of range of my opponent. I then throw out safe poking moves to force a reaction, then punish the reaction. Really, I'm very defensive, but in an aggressive way, once I've created an opening, I'll milk it for all it's worth. I LOVE dtilt. Since I have long limbs, and I'm very good at spacing IRL, I can do exactly the same thing when I fight IRL. It's especially effective in weapons fighting.

Why did I pick up Marth? Primarily because I'm comfortable with his fighting style, he just fights so much like me. There's also the fact that I LOVE Fire Emblem, FEIV is my favorite game of all time to date.

So, a little overview of me, enjoy.

Hi my real name is Michael and I am 14 years old, and despite my young age I am one of the best smash players in Adelaide, Australia.

When Melee was released in Australia I was 7 years old and I sucked... bad. I mained Dr. Mario. When I was 9 my SSBM disc got a massive scratch on it and it didn't work anymore. I didn't bother buying another because I didn't like it that much anyway. Then January this year I started hearing about Brawl, I loved Melee and 64 it's just I was bad at them so I thought I would follow Brawl and buy it when it was released.

I would searched through the Youtube looking at Brawl trailers, etc then I discovered some old Melee videos of PC Chris VS M2K. I was amazed, I never realized that Smash was such a competitive game. Then when Brawl was released in Australia I bought it and started practicing and trying all the characters. Two characters stuck out to me, Kirby and Marth. Kirby because I already loved Kirby and had lots of his games and Marth because Marth's playstyle was awesome.

I then searched the internet looking for tournaments near me and I found one for the 8/8/08, all of Adelaide's greatest smashers were going to be there. I entered as Marth and got all the way to the finals but then I was beaten.

So yeah that's how I started playing competitive Smash and started playing as Marth...

Hey, I'm Raz.

I'm new here, but I've been lurking around for quite sometime.

I started maining Marth because I like his play style. He's got a good defensive game which is good for me, since I tend to play very defensively. I play defensively because I'm bad at taking hits since, I can't DI very well. I'm working on it though.

Hi, my name is Shaya. With any luck any of you could find my real name, and with even more luck where I study, how old I am, and my personal contact details :p

Most people in this gaming scene thing call me Shaya. I'm white (I noticed some people thought it was important? to state their colour/race), 18, a university student living in Sydney, Australia.
At this time I am probably one of, if not the best Marth in the 'region'. But that doesn't say much.

My brawl buddies are mostly brawl haters who tell me how great melee is most of the time, but I don't mind. I only picked up Melee maybe 2 years ago (had only played it once before hand) and had mostly been an n64 smasher for now over 8 years (my brawl playing has made me pretty bad at 64, but I still consider myself reasonbly good). Before Melee I was into Fire Emblem. When I got melee the first thing I wanted to do was play Roy and Marth. Hence my short stint of Melee was with Marth and Roy; And I continued the Marth tradition over to Brawl.

Anything else I should mention?

Lets see, My Online Alias is GHNeko. People on the internet know me as GHNeko, GHN, GH, or Neko. I own a Smash Crew called, "Brawl Diamond" which has about 13-15 members. It's both a local and online. I have a website for it. An IRC Channel for it. Hell, I even have shirts, which have been bought by other members. I'm 18 years old, and I just recently turned 18 and graduated High School. (All without Taking Final Exams. ^___^ ). I have a girlfriend who is older than me, and when I get the chance I'm going to attempt to get her into Smashing. Also, my real name is Abdul. No, I'm not Muslim. I'm Black. And Epic.

Lets see. In Melee, I mained Marth and Doctor Mario. God rest his soul. >:
But before I unlocked Marth, I was a Fox Mainer and you know, back then, I found nothing really appealing about Marth. The reason why I picked up Fox was because he had a reflector. When I tried out Marth, and found out he had a counter, I **** my pants and dropped Fox in a heartbeat. That's right. I dropped Fox for Marth's Counter. Hilarious huh?

In Brawl, of course, I kept Marth, and I had to pick up Mario in Doc Mario's place. My general playstyle is actually pretty aggressive with Marth, and unfortunately, predictable, but I've been changing that with alot of poking and spacing improvements. Um, unlike Melee, my own personal character roster is pretty large. My Top 2 characters are Marth. But I have 4 semi-serious characters of which are: Jiggz, Game and Watch, Peach, and Bowser. Yes. Him. I only play those 4 for friendlies. I also play Ike and SNAEK for the sheer hilarity of it. :awe:

:awe: is also my own little personal catchphrase that I use alot.

Well that was more of an introduction than most of the posts here. :awe:

My name's Matt, I'm 16, and my Smash name is PD (Go figure lol). I'm from Long Island and I'm relatively new to competitive fighters, although I have played Pokemon competitively and still kinda do, ZMT knows that lol. I also play Magic: The Gathering competitively although recently have taken a little break.

I play a really defensive Marth, making use of d/f tilt to keep them away and spacing with retreating f-airs. I'm not that good, though, but I hope to get better.

Sup, my name is John. I played Samus in melee,(started around late 2006?) and ironically I hated playing against marth in melee. Seriously, samus against marth = no fun =(. When brawl came out, I hated how samus played. Tried a few chars, and I really, really liked how marf played. So yeah, mained him. My tag is minty, my whole name being mintyflesh. (the reason my account name is megavitamins was cuz I accidently put the birthdate for mintyflesh account like 2007, so I couldn't post haha) I played doc alot back then for fun, so yeah thats where megavitamins come from. I'm 14, and I think I'm pretty good for my age. Thats all there is for now.

hey, im dynomite im 15 and i live in atl, GA. The first time i played marth in brawl was when i was playing wifi and the person i was vsing was using marth. back in melee ide alwase ditto and see how far it would get me, so i picked marth and saw that he suited me much better than in melee (i couldnt play marth for sh*t in melee tbh) but i did main samus (god u gota love all her glitches <3) so i picked marth up. i like to play, well idk. but alwase playing agenst a rob and wario got me to play cauciosly, i fair alot, i go for grabs, which i dont see alot of marth players doing, and try to control my opponent. i really love smash competitions because, yes u can play with ur friends and all but i mena it just gets boaring playing the same people over and over again. i didnt know about any smash competitions till maybe last year, so i never got a chance to play melee that well. :D :D :D nice to be apart of this thread, i think its a good idea to get to know other marth players and the way they play.
