it'd be better if you ran a real bracket
so you didn't have to go through the trouble of renting out a venue, setting everything up, then excluding half the community

i might enter teams but so far just singles Dave if u use the hotel conference room i used it can easily fit 40 people in there and u can squeeze a few more extra people if needed. And thats only half of the room for about $150

i don't disagree with the idea of an arcadian tournament, but it seems like a waste of a venue

it's dumb to go through all that trouble and then hold a tournament with half the people you'd normally get

plus, if you're trying to get socal "better" wouldn't it be a better idea to let ALL the good players attend the tournament? think about the #1 arcadian, he would feel like **** after winning an easy bracket and knowing that there are a dozen people who could beat him/teach him new things, except they didn't go.

make an arcadian bracket, but have a real one, too
it sucks for people (like me) who are technically "ranked" but are trying to get better (atlus, dsf are maybe going? **** that)
and it sucks for the arcadians who are good enough to want to improve, since they can't

joe, saying you're only going to get half of the normal people is kinda like saying all 10 PR people go to EVERY tourny and then another 10 go... both of which we know is not true

and think about it joe, tournies every weekend like they can/seem to happen in so cal means less turnout overall to most of them, it's not going to hurt so cal if once in a while there is a tourny for arcadians only, it can only help

and there are still learning opportunites for the better arcadaians even if they aren't playing the best people, and you can't say that many arcadians can't learn a thing or two from playing atlus, cameron, steven, s2j, maple, pnoy, me, etc.

hell, i know i could learn things from playing those people even if i end up beating them in tourny... i remember playing against plan 9's falcon a little while ago, i was learning so much even though he's not like romeo or emerican

and of course you can learn from EVERYBODY
but you can learn MORE from better players

edit: doesn't it say in the first post, ranked players can come only if they're willing to teach people constantly, not enter the bracket, and not hog tvs?
this means: no tournament experience, no friendlies, and critique noobs all day
i'd rather go to a ranked players smashfest, **** that lol


honestly though, i see no reason why arcadian-only tournament > normal tournament with arcadian bracket attached
