Hmm. Well on one hand it seems like P/Atlus/Emerican shouldn't be allowed to come, but where do we make the cutoff? At PsychoMidget? At Pnoy? Cam was ranked before even though he gimped himself by playing falcon and pnoy has taken sets off connor and joe in the past (maybe more). I doubt ROFL/Emerican would come anyway, it's far and they've been relatively inactive (although i could really use falcon practice)

I think only the current ranked people should be banned. And Hugo. Even still, the bracket will be much easier than normal, especially with seeding. And at least it won't be the same people in finals, they'll be interesting to watch.

We can have 2 different brackets at a tourney. 1 Pro bracket ($5 entry) and 1 AM bracket($3-2 entry). People in AM can join the pro bracket(for extra practice) but the Pros can't join the AM bracket for easy $$$. The people on the PR can decide at the tourney if that person should be AM or Pro material.

the pro bracket would be so small. we'd have to do one big pool WHICH WOULD **** if other ranked people are down

ranked ppl could use a break for one week.

plus we can't ban people who aren't ranked but are still very good. we can't get rid of atlus/cam/p without also banning emerican/rofl/s2j or its easy money for any of them. there's also pnoy/maple/macd, they would be guaranteed top 3 without any of the 6 players mentioned above. but without them steven would have absolutely no one to contest him for 1st. plus there's pat, wes, and probably a ton of other people im forgetting, and so it goes forever. we have to make the cutoff somewhere.

sure there will still be good people in the bracket, but we effectively eliminate 10 of the best players in socal. trust, the bracket will be much much easier.

I say people that are/have been ranked before can't enter! (Very easy money for them!) Cutting off people would be such a hassle because you wouldn't know where to stop! I guess the person that gets first at this one, can't enter the next one!

This is an interesting idea, and I think something similar might be good in Norcal too. But I'd like the ranked people to be able to compete too, just more among themselves, so here are a few ideas for formats:

-Just 2 separate non-interacting brackets. Problems are that most ranked people like the warm-up match against the unranked, and also unranked people like to get the experience of playing the top players.
-Amateur bracket plays first, top X play in pro bracket. Only problem with this is it deprives the ranked people of a few tourney sets. This might be solved by:
-2 sets of pools, a set of ranked players to determine seeding in the pro bracket, which would have a few slots open for the top X people from a set of pools unranked players. The seeding is fairly well-established among the ranked people though, so having them play pools might be just busywork.

Again I think this is a cool idea and it will encourage more people to step up their game and also maybe more people might show up to tourneys if they know they aren't getting auto-***** first round.
