I'd love to argue valid points...respectfully.

In the New Testament (in the book of acts, i think) the apostle paul had a dream where he saw a plethora (great word, i know :p ) of foods forbidden to Jews during the Old Testament. God told Paul to eat these foods; Jesus passion on the cross did away with God's demand for burnt animal sacrifices and everything else during the days prior to the passion . In fact, Paul refused to listen to God a couple of times before listening to him; hard to break the habit of being an old testament believer and break into new Christian freedom.

Homosexuality was rampant in the OT...However it is also condemned in the NT. Many different epistles talk about it plainly.

EDIT: can i be granted debate forum access? I hate to intrude on this social thread anymore than i have already.

That'd be cool. Not that I have any authority over what people want to talk about, but dang, how many religious debates do we need to have in this thread? Especially since there's the same thing in the Debate Hall. *shrugs* Just saying.

Go to "user cp", "group memberships". From there you can apply to the debate hall. I'm sure our ongoing conversation will cover the rest of what you said.

Here's the thing about that, though. The original hebrew interpretation of the bible really condemns ****, male or female. Every time homosexuality is mentioned, it is cast in the light of ****. The bible does not mention two men in a loving relationship, only condemning lust and forced sexual encounters, which I think we can all agree aren't pleasant things. It also doesn't even mention lesbians at all, sex or relationship.
What can we say? The bible has important lessons and guides for all walks of life, but to take it literally at face value is to misinterpret the true lessons therein.

If you asked Jesus, point blank, what to do with the homosexuals, what do you think he would say? Even if you believe homosexuality to be a sin, you must realize that Jesus's actions and words teach tolerance and love. How can you reach any other conclusion?

Hey, if he wea your ex, then you probably don't have anything he hasn't seen. :p My boyfriends roomie is straight, though. He's just awesome.

Also, Faora, are you from Meridian Idaho? Or is that just a name coincidence?
Heh, as a matter of fact, I'm Australian. And I live near Meridian now, but it's complete coincidence I swear. The name is that of a character in a novel I was writing some years ago, and I adopted it as mine for online purposes. Don't google me though, if you like your childhood to go un-*****. *chuckles* Ye hath been warned.

Sorry to interrupt again, but if anyone would like to discuss my posts in here, feel free to PM me instead of replying, as some of you have already done. It would be a good way to keep this thread off-topic discussion free until I'm granted debater access. :)

Did blink drink for his first time? Did you get any action? :p
lol! I - freaking - wish. Not that I didn't try anyway, but I was visiting some highschool friends on the outskirts of a not-so-big city. Everyone there was very straight, but I tried. Looking back I'm mildly embarassed, but I'm sure they were too drunk too to (wow, more than two to/too's there, teehee) to take anything out of my - erhm - comments.

And no, it wasn't my first time drinking (first time was a day after coming out), but it was my first time outright drunk. Walking was far too entertaining and I lost my shirt and one sock somewhere...

And hey JediKnightLuigi, for all that I can't stand debates (especially religious ones) you did a fair job being very, very polite about bringing it up. It's really appreciated.

Though I've gotta say: Lord of the Rings is the second best selling book of all time. As I haven't seen an Elf chasing Orcs in my neighbourhood park lately, I don't see that the number of copies sold on a book validates its "truthiness" (thank you, Colbert).

EDIT: Not trying to bring myself into the debate with that last comment. More going for the "haha" factor, as opposed to making a valid point in the discussion.

People like him usually just post once about Jesus's cruelty, then never return. Don't worry about it. But like what Dedede said earlier in this thread, Jesus loves everyone. I guess he makes all his disciples do the hating for him. WWJD, Changen?

I hate gays, wish they've burn in hell for their sins against god.
"
Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
"

-Mark 12:29-31

You might wish to consider how well that Bible quote meshes with your statement and consider this:

"
"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
"

-Matthew 7:3-5

I would suggest that you might wish to reference to the Bible before holding such things in your heart.

There is still hope for your salvation however, repent of your hatred and you may yet be saved.

Just because Jesus loves people doesn't mean he wont send some of them to hell.

"When we know that someone is is indulging in sinful behavior, Christian love demands that we call such a person to repentance so that he recognizes his sin and turns to the Lord in repentance. For "the Lord ... is patient ... not wanting anyone to perish but everyone come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).

Note the word Christian 'love', and take it seriously. wishing that they would burn in hell, actually according to this verse, is contrary to God's Word!

EDIT: the quote is from this: http://www.wels.net/cgi-bin/site.pl?1518&cuTopic_topicID=29&cuItem_itemID=18187

^That's actually true...about the IMpenitent. But like the verse says, Jesus welcomes the penitent.

EDIT: duly noted, mzink. Just trying to distinguish myself apart from people who talk to hear themself speak, and at that, not very convincingly.

Words don't affect me at all, you know, but the idea of someone coming and stomping on your nuts the moment someone breaks up with you is just satisfying.

Go back to fapping to your bible.

Honestly, not THAT long. 'bout 4 months or so, but that's still long enough to where I had feelings for him.. and I at least thought he had some kind of feelings for me.. but.. I guess not.

****... I'm even moving in with him (and his roommates) this August... that's gonna be so.... I don't even know..

Then I guess I'll see you there?

Once again, plus ten points of respect to JKLuigi. It takes a good heart to say what you have, considering your beliefs. If I may, I'd like to apologize if anything I've said in this thread upsets you. I don't believe in things the way you do, so I won't change the way I am, but you're a good person and I'm sorry if I upset you.

And ouch, Somasu. That blows on so many levels. If you feel the need to share more about the situation, we're all here to listen.

If I understand correctly, you are moving in with this guy? Don't!
I was in a situation where I was forced to live with my ex, and it was probably the most drama filled portion of my life so far. It's just a really bad idea, especially if you are not over him. Do yourself a favor and don't do it.

They do. Best thing is is to think of all the good times you had and look forward to the better times you'll have with somebody else.

Off-topic: Should we tell CK about the flamer, or no?

I was tempted to ask which one, but now's not the time.
Yes, the guy who posted here saying how awesome Fred Phelps is should be reported.

Im sorry to hear that, Somasu. Know if you need anything let me or Darkfur know. I know it sounds super cliche, but we sometimes gotta open our selves up for heartbreak in order to feel the love in a relationship. Those who close themselves off and don't wish to feel anything become cold and bitter, and thats not living at all. Time is the best healer, and I know right now it seems like you will never feel that way again, but you will, just give it time. I wish you the best!

Tom, please edit that out. He's been dealt with, and I don't want him coming back and starting crap.

also, next time someone posts something like what he did, just click report and leave it at that. Responding to them won't do anything except give him the response he wants.

He said it won't be until August. Let's just hope things get cool between you guys in the time being. :( I can see how you'd still want to move in with him-- especially if you still have feelings for him. Just make sure they're friend feelings, and not boyfriend feelings.

Ugh. You went through my biggest fear. My current boyfriend was my best friend prior to our hookup. The day (praying that it never comes) that we break up, I'll be a mess... the fact that we've gotten this far means that it'll be difficult to recover our friendship.

Also, here's a question. How long do you have to date someone in order for "I love you" to not freak your partner out? >_>

Well, my current girlfriend and I'd been friends for a number of months, and the dating started when I said to her "Kara, I love you."
So it all depends.

My plans for moving already happened before I started dating him.. He just became a convenience, kinda.. but even still.. living with an ex just seems like it'd be... odd...

I just don't know.. I don't know if I'm still even gonna move there. Right now, I'm thinking about searching for a place here in my state.. maybe if I find somewhere here, I can just.. not move out of state for at least a while longer..

Blargh.. =| This is the second time this has happened to me.. You think I'd be able to say, "Hey, it's better off like this", but honestly.. I ****ing like being able to have someone to love and care for.. It's just my nature to want to do that.. soo even though a relationship isn't required for me, I still would rather be in one than not.. Just wish I could find the right guy somewhere close to me.

I swear, I'm never gonna date anyone that I can't physically meet within the first two months of knowing them... Of course last time I had a boyfriend I met online and met in the real world within the first month or whatever ended in a disaster that made me lose all respect for the guy.. but that's another story.

I have some bad relationship luck =/

My problem is the opposite, I am too much of a solitary type person, so my partner feels neglected sometimes. Most of my friends are like you though.

I'm not into the whole getting close to someone I met online thing, with me it has to have been someone I've known for a while.

If moving in with your ex is going to pull you down emotionally then it's probably not a good idea. You don't need that. Try not to be so anxious of being solitary, you'll meet someone new in time.
