That's easy, what I'm scared of is if there are any like

Clear on 9.0 in under 10min on this chapter, etc.

Dang I went to Dallas :(
A few of the speed challenges have you go up to 7.5 for it, but that's only ones that you can't physically run through and you're on a set path that takes the same amount of time regardless of what you do (excluding boss fights, of course)

Almost all of what I have left are a couple weapon gem challenges (those are gonna suck because I live in the woods lol) and clear X chapter while defeating Y enemies/Y score/using Y weapon type. But that's just a case of getting a strong enough weapon of that type and running the chapter a few times to get up to being able to 9.0 it.

Ah man I live in the woods too....what are the weapon gem challenges?

Edit: I know what I'm using my feathers on now...

I'm at 119/118/118.

95/100 hours, 4/30 gems traded, and who knows how many powers left. They're repeats over 90% of the time and I'm getting relapse symptoms from trying to collect all stickers on brawl which I left at 699/700. Worst power so far is spin attack which I only have lv2 of. Plenty of others I only have 2 different levels of.

Sadly I'm in the woods too, so I'll probably end up feathering the gems.

The weapon gem achievements are a pain. I'm at a college and get a good amount of street passes a day, but I hardly run into anyone who has Kid Icarus >.>

Anyway I'm at 120/120/93. Hades treasure hunt is kicking my butt. A lot of the achievment I have left are "Clear X chapter with a weapon you hate at intensity 9." >.<

Usually there's at least one good weapon in it's type. If you play enough you should have a ton of weapons and be able to fuse one with good range and some defense. I didn't have too much trouble other than ch. 11 with the arm, which transparency 4 and aries armor 4 fixed.

That's actually a pretty good set if you're wanting to do those since you can run past really hard parts and you don't take knockback and major damage from boss attacks.

It's not really a matter of a weapon being good or not, it's more about how the weapon feels. I know there's good cannons and clubs, but I personally just don't like using them. They don't feel like a good fit. So when the game tells me I have to use one of them in a late game level at max difficulty, it's just kind of annoying. Thanks for that tip though, I'll probably try it eventually.

Yah, now that I think about it chapter 19 with a club was also harsh, I went through with the magnus club because you're usually in CQC because you're inside, it also has a normal charge time unlike the rest of the clubs. I must have taken about 10 tries until I finally beat the entire thing.

I live in Maryland and I'm getting the game today. :)

Can you guys give me the rundown on how this game operates?

@omni

Single player has three phases:

1. Air battle, which basically works like Star Fox

2. Ground battle, in which you fight your way through a bunch of enemies.

3. Boss battle, which works like Ground battle except with a boss.

Multiplayer is basically six people going at it in Ground Battle. There's a Free-for-all mode and "Light vs. Dark" mode--the latter is a 3v3 match where the whole team has a health bar that goes down when you die, and the person whose death drains the health bar to zero respawns as an angel with boosted stats and health; first team to kill the enemy angel wins. There are various stages and items, also like Smash (but much more balanced, which is why I suspect Smash 4 will be better about balance too).

There are nine categories of weapon (blade, bow, staff, cannon, claw, arm, club, orbitar, palm), and twelve weapons in each category, making 108 weapons total--but each individual copy of a weapon you get has different modifiers on them (one might poison the opponent, another might increase defense, a third might have increased melee damage, yet another increases the damage of charged shots down while doing a forward dash, etc).

Combine these mechanics with some corny (but hilarious) dialogue and other general cool things, along with collectible Idols (trophies) and whatnot, and you have KIU.

Also, make sure you rest the 3DS on your leg or something while playing--people who try to play it "normally" have reported hand pain.

So I just got this Taurus Arm.

Stars: 2 R/ 5 M
Val: 250

Shot range +2
Running speed +3

It's so good. I have wrecking people online with a Black Hole, Super/Aries Armor set-up. One time I caught the entire team in a Black Hole and OHKO'd them all at once. It was beautiful.

Also, I hope you enjoy the game Omni. Inferioritycomplex basically covered anything I could say about this game without fanboying. All I can really add to it that it's really good.

I forgot to mention powers, and some other nitpicky things, but I was in a rush.

Speaking of weapons, I don't think I posted my newest one here.

Saggitarius Bow 289
4/1.5
+3 Shot Range
+2 Shot Homing
+1 Poison
+4 FDCS

Range is over 80m on FDCS, which does 300 damage with Energy Charge. That makes this basically a staff (my favorite weapon class), but with silly, SILLY amounts of homing (at least at a long enough range). Not even optimal and I'm scoring five kills a game with it. I once paired it with Slipshot and Energy Charge and got the tower level, and got four kills in four charged shots from behind one of the pillars. It's that good.

Only downside is that good claw users take notice and start actively hunting me, and I can't get away from them easily. I think Warp could fix that, but I can't fit it with both EC and SS (I only have max-level Warp, dunno if a lower level would fit). I think I'll try Angelic Missile.

Maybe try Rocket Jump for people rushing you. Iirc Rocket Jump can be used during stun and it knocks people back. Reflect barrier's also an option but it takes up a good chunk of space on the grid.

I have basically the same set but with more melee damage and some lightweight on my set. You really can't go wrong with it.

I also noticed I only have levels 3 and 4 of warp, I wonder if it really is random or if the lower levels of warp are actually rarer.

My standard orbitars set is basically my favorite. Balanced to where I don't feel sorry for the other team but can still use some skill in taking them out in a couple shots.

Kind of saddened by this honestly. Sakurai has proven that he can do the Kid Icarus Universe justice, hell, he practically has all of it in his hands. As a result it is a bit disappointing to think that if it continues, which I hope it does, what Sakurai has in his hands is going to be handed off to someone else.

Well on the bright side, that means we don't have to wait like 8 years for Sakurai to make a sequel if someone else decides to make it. Though it is disappointing that means it may not be made in the same style as Uprising :(

@Arcansi: Uhhhhhhhhh. Kinda maybe? The Gamefaqs community has some clans going last I checked and they have some sort of tournament going but that's all I know about a competitive scene.

No big deal to me, it's too early for another Uprising game. Doesn't mean we won't see another platformer though. :D

Tough to say if there's a competitive scene yet, it's a little early, and the only other handheld game that is competitive (that I can think of) is Pokemon.

ive had stupid amounts of success with this guy, typically finishing FFAs with 8-12 KOs and dying 1-2 times:

Wolf Claws (303)
R: 4.5 stars
M:2.5 stars
Knockback defense +1
Speed +3
Standing ch. shot+1
Melee dash atack +4
In-peril autododge +3

Jump glide/Warp/Reflect Barrier/Bumblebee/Transparency

So basically the strategy here is to always be on the move. With the insane running speed, warp, glide and invisibility options, you become a very difficult target to hit. If you do find yourself at low health, bumblebee & the +3 in-peril autododge kick in and you can continue escaping with dodges. As for offense, just keep lapping the map checking on the combat and deciding which players are at low enough health to be picked off easily. If theres a crowd of players fighting, speed by, drop a reflect barrier (its like a butterfly net for KO's) in the middle of it all and dip out.

The melee dash attack comes to 141.1 damage, with all 5 hits of the melee combo come to 105 + 30~ from the burn inflicted by the wolf claws.

FC: 4940-5470-2081 if anyone wants to play ^_^

So guys, apparently this Saturday is Kid Icarus Uprising: Multiplayer Battle Day. People will meet up to play Kid Icarus and beat each other up in person. Anyone gonna go to there local meet ups? My closest location only has two other people and doesn't even have a meet-up spot so I probably won't bother.

Ugg, I'm really annoyed with someone online right now. I caught them using Pisces Heal, Trade-Off, Aries Armor and Libra Sponge multiple times in a match, all at once, when you can normally only use them once per match as they don't refill. Not to mention you don't even have enough room to use all of them in the custom power section.

The hackers have come...

Nope I saw them stacking them up multiple times during at match all at once and they did that for the many matches I played against them (I played about 5 against them) and each time they kept doing the same thing. They were also the only one using any one of those powers on either team, so they couldn't have stolen them.

Definitely hacking.

I just played the multiplayer for like 2 hours with my friend. It was more fun than playing with the CPUs but it hurts your wrists so bad if you play too long.

No lol.
Only trade-off is once-per match. All the others just have high refresh rates, if he was using a high-valued weapon (which causes powers to refresh quicker as you die) then the others should come back at 1 use per life.

There is no hacking. And that strategy is actually pretty antiquated, it was broken for the first few weeks but now people have weapons which can OHKO without any powers.

They used Trade-Off more than once. Say what you want but I know what I saw.

Not to mention the amount of power ups they used wouldn't be able to fit on the power sheet, how would you explain that?

Easily.

You're not remembering properly, or jumping to conclusions. There's no way to hack the 3ds or it's games(yet), and if there were, I doubt they'd be using it only to mess with people online.

You probably confused it for power drop, or brief invincibility with effect duration +4.
Or perhaps he just got lucky with random power.

But I can assure you, he was not hacking.

So did anyone see the OD-4 set?

it was something like
Brawler Claws
0/6
Running Speed / Speed +4
FHB +6
MDA +4
OD -4

The point is to run to the enemy spawn point almost immediately and OHKO 1-2 people with MDA before they can react. (I'm sure you guys can figure out the acronyms by now.) With FHB, MDA, and the Melee stars, along with dying a lot for the power refreshes, it could possibly work. (The value is probably too high though, you'd have to compromise, but still a really cool set.)

Powers would include Brief Invincibility, Lightweight, Transparency, Bumblebee, basically anything you can do to not take damage. Don't be afraid to run around and grab items either.

Must be really lucky to get 5 of the same power ups in a row multiple times in a match. lol

I remember what I saw and I still stand by my claim, but there's no way to prove it, so lets let this one be. Either way lets just hope that you're right, hacking sucks ***.

Hey, that's my set. Project Impatient Claws, right? I'm almost done with it, also it's 4 melee. The value is extremely low, it's under 200.

It's:

Brawler Claws: Value 197

4 Melee

Full-Health Boost +6
Running Speed +4
Melee Dash Attack +4
Stamina +2

Overall Defense -4

Also i wouldn't use lightweight, it already goes lightning fast and any faster would make it too hard to control.
Transparency isn't too needed either. Black hole, and interference are the two main powers. Cast interference, ruin their buff stacking, and black hole to try to kill them. Or virus, if they're melee players.
