Controls took some adjusting, but are definitely easy to master. It's like riding a bike too, even after me having not played in a long while, I can just pick it up and not feel awkward with it all over again.

The only legitimate complaint against the controls are that you can't just play the game in any position, which kind of reduces the appeal of having it on a handheld. That is the only flaw I can point out at the top of my head.

@Powerhouse The name was just a bunch of stars in a row.

And I completely agree, reviewers rush through it and put the negative trates in the review before they have a chance to try and get around them.

When I watched a review they really put it out there that this game had bad controls but I don't think the reviewer even tried to adjust his controls to make them more comfortable.
But yah we are a fanbase of the game so we are all going to say it's better than the review. :3

Yeah the only gripe you'll ever see is the controls. It took me most of the first day of playing to get used to them, and it did hurt my hands, but it works well. Also the stand helps a lot, but I can set up just with a pillow on my lap and the stand/3DS on that.

Other than that it's a fun game with awesome visuals, good voice acting, and a ton of replayability and content. In terms of content I'd compare it with Brawl and Kirby Air Ride. I have 130 hours on it, compared to something like SM3DL where I literally have the game 100% complete in 30 hours.

Ah, it was Drazonix.

I had to adjust a bit, but now I can play for hours. My hands never hurt unless I was playing an awkward solo chapter with a bad weapon. Using bad weapons does hurt my hands because i need to do everything so perfectly.

I hated the stand. Tried it first but just made me feel awkward. I thought it was the only way to play until one day i forgot it at home and just wanted to play it at work... Found out it was better and never went back lol.

Yeah I get that, I used to play MPH without a stand and it's basically the same thing. I just find it easier to play with the stand, I hate having to lean over or having to prop the DS on my knee. Back aches suck.

Haven't even touched the stand since I unboxed the game (I don't even know where it is).

Also, funny story. I was just thinking this morning that I would really like to go back to staff play, if I could only find a worthwhile staff for sniping. So imagine my surprise an hour or two later when this shows up from a chain of semi-random fusions:

Flintlock Staff
235
6/0
Health +2
Standing Ch. Shot +3
Shot Homing -3

w00t!

Also, I changed my name to "Dædalus♪" because why not?

Also, how many hours do we all have logged in this game?
I'm at 250:54 total game time, 64:26 play time broken up into 46:38 Solo/17:48 Together, over 62 "times played" (power-on count).

I have a couple good staffs because they are just so fun.

I got a 4 star flintlock with standing charge shot +4

and a thanotose staff with dash charge shot +3 and homing +3
its really good because it actually homes and plus the backwards dash charge shot has saved me countless times in close quarters :)

Oh, my apologies. ^^; I hope I find him again, but right now my focus is the fusion page. I forgot that I hated that part of the game, that is a second complaint I'd give about the game's quality, it just seems nonsensical and you can waste an hour without getting anything done.

Wow, I feel embaressed, I only have 96 total game time, only 46 of it being total play time. And have played 270 matches so far, most of them being LvD.

Not sure if anyone else has tried this, but on the land battle practice range, if you use the heart booster power combine with a weapon with a heart booster of it's own you can rack up 500 hearts easy every sesson. Using it with Trade Off makes farming them even faster.

If I wanted to do that I'd just do Chapter 1 on 9.0 with heart booster weapon + heart boost power over and over again, lol. Or some other easy chapter.

does anyone know what the hell "nearly avoided" means in air battles? That achievement is one of the only Palutena ones I have left.

Dodge at the last possible second. You'll hear the dodging sound effect whenever you do it properly. That is, if I remember that correctly. Its been awhile.

You can also barrel roll into the shots which deflects them and supposedly counts.

As for Practice Range farming, that's if you see something in the shop that you can't afford--practice range is one of the few ways to get hearts without resetting the shop.

Doing the barrel roll is the ONLY way to do it.

I haven't done it once, it doesn't feel natural. Rather just move around in circles like an idiot.

I've only done about 3 or 4 so far, they're tough to do.

Having to do a QC turn is an odd way to dodge if you ask me, as Holder said, it doesn't feel natural. I think that this mechanic would have been better if it was just done like a normal dash by double tapping the control stick.

Yeah, instead, you just spin the circle pad quickly and hope for the best. It was a mechanic that wasn't programmed right. But then again, how often do you even stop firing during the flying segments to make it even practical?

http://www.gameshark.com/reviews/4005/Kid-Icarus-Uprising-Review.htm these guys had way more issues than the controls

And barrel rolls aren't the only way to narrowly avoid shots because I've only barrel rolled a handful of times after a special attack when all the enemies are gone, as sort of a taunt I guess, and I have 14 narrowly avoided shots.

Oh yea and I got 130:45 game time, 68:22 play time-57:08s/11:14t. 100 times played exactly.

Fusion is pathetically easy if you abuse streetpass. And that's what me and Drazonix use. You can make as many copies you want of any weapon. And if you have a 3ds you don't care about the data on, you can just format it so you don't need to wait the normal 8 hours and copy 2 weapons every 3 mins or so.

Sure, it costs some hearts but all you need to do is build up some hearts first, and start work on a solo mode weapon. After that, chapter 20 can net you between 50-60k easily. And almost 70 when you get used to abusing it... And an extra 8k-10k if you sell the weapons you get. Which, while usually high value are worthless multi-stars.

Probably should not be bragging about doing something similar to Drazonix, good or bad.

And some of us don't have multiple 3DS's (3DSii?).

I'd rather beat all the levels on 9.0 to get the heart reward from it than worry about farming a level too much (although I still farm a little because I tend to spend all my hearts). At least for hearts. Weapons are a pain no matter how you get them.

I didn't mean to make it sound like bragging. But just as an example to show the level of weapons you can make, and the scale at which you can do so at. So if someone as garbage as him can acheive a list like that, just think what you guys could do.

And the 999,999 hearts doesn't last forever, also chapter 20 gives out hearts at a similar if not superior rate. Playing it just 13-15 times can yield that amount, but also for far less time and effort needed. (Chapters are shorter, and easier than most) So i wouldn't recommend getting people to sweat over that acheivement unless they have only a small amount left to do.

"shots narrowly avoided" is when you're in a glide and let a bullet graze you. Pit will automatically shift out of the way, flashing blue.
Oh, well, it makes sense I haven't done that either.

I almost never stop shooting.

Yea, it's a pretty annoying acheivement to do on purpose lol

I went to chapter 1 on 2.0 a few times with a shot defense +2 weapon for some value 100 weapons and i just idle the air segment and after one of the chapters i got the acheivement lol.

The idea is that I'm going to be getting that square eventually so I might as well just shoot for it rather than trying to farm hearts to make a weapons just to get it anyway. Or something.

I'm only going to go for that acheivement when i finish my perfect solo weapon... I was close a while ago. Had all the best mods set-up from a string of fusions.

4 Range

Od+8
Health +6
Heart Bonus +3
In-peril attack boost -4

(and some worthless +1s i can't remember)

But used a lot of stuff i didn't have copies of so i wanted to make copies and then make it so i used the cartridge trick to reset, and now i can't remember how i got to it lol.

Probably going to turn it into aurum orbitars since they do a lot of damage even on low stars... i think 4 can go over 100 pretty easily and they charge super fast.

But only then because i want to get hearts while i do the acheivement so it's actually worth it to spend time on over chapter 20.

I have a shot defense +3 health +4 dash. Ch shot +3 heart bonus +3 5 range aurum orbitar which crushes chapter 20... could probably do the 9.0s with it but wouldn't be as easy as with the mods i saw before -_-

Coincidentally, my friends and I joined someone's room and Drazonix was in it. His weapons are broken, but to be honest he doesn't really know how to play well because he uses a power set that doesn't even make sense, and he's not a good angel, either. At least he got over with the -4 overall defense trend, lmao.

He simply has to be trying to be bad with those broken weapons. I just don't understand why he'd use an energy charge and aries armor power set with eyetracks.

He knows how well slip shot and homing boost go together from me crushing him with them.

Copying from the pros? Probably not. But refusing to learn from them is another concept entirely. There are dozens of better strategies for eyetracks than freaking energy charge. They can't avoid being hit easily as they're dash ch. shot weapons, and if it has homing +3, the freezing power still lets all eyetracks of 6.5 range or higher kill in one shot at most ranges.

Either way, he's a joke on gamefaqs.

You know what I just realized that's annoying? When you, running an Energy Charge set, are ganged up on by a guy with a rapid-fire palm (which prevents you from running away, eats your Energy Charge, and forces you to use up your stamina) and a Magnus Club. THAT is annoying.

Also, it's hard to dodge shots and click Warp at the same time.

Had a bad run in LVD just now, apologies. (At least I bagged another one-hit polykill from the previous run.) Back to your regularly scheduled discussion.

As for eyetracks... good strategies. Well, there's slipshot/homing boost, there's freezing/homing boost, there's TankTracks... I guess Energy Charge could work if you didn't have a lot of stars (it saves value) but that makes you fragile.

And a random thought: Let's everyone change our name to ******** to confuse people who think they are fighting drazonix

I'd rather not give him a good name.

I might do it when i want to test bad strategies or troll though.
And i can't see energy charge on eyetracks doing more than homing boost + freezing. Also his eyetracks were great. Range +3 homing +3 and dash. ch. shot +4 and 6 stars. He also wasn't using slip shot, which was the biggest problem imo.

Shhh don't tell him that, he might become competent and that would be frightening

[collapse="flintlock"]I'm really enjoying this flintlock though, except that I'm really fragile and *nobody* in LVD randoms likes a flintlock LOL, have to spam defensive powers just to stay alive. And for some reason I haven't been doing as well on Windy Wasteland as I used to, even though it's the go-to sniper map... I dunno what else to do with it though, as I already have Warp/Bumblebee/Playing Dead to stay alive when someone is on me (should I even be concerned about dying? my value is low) and I don't want to risk my ridiculous damage capability just to fuse some OD or something on it; the only thing that would probably benefit me at this point would be something like Running Speed to help me get around. But I don't want to fuse it anyway--just thinking about different powers. Only one I don't have is Virus.

It's really awesome on Rail Temple though. Anyone that hits the center island dies. I can win games just by taking potshots at the rail-camping angel until they decide to camp the center, hitting Playing Dead and taking my time to draw my bead. [/collapse]

Just got the Warp power for the first time. I like how your shot stays behind after you warp.

Definitely can see a lot of use when being an angel.

Warp is a staple power for many weapons. It also makes it really hard for melee combo and multi-hit range players to kill you.

Problem with Warp is that a lot of the time you have to hit it on reaction; I've found that that's hard to do with powers, although I'm sure more play time would help with that. I keep accidentally scrolling over to Bumblebee when I'm trying to click it (or I could hit the dpad but that would involve not dodging for a split second).

Basically, I need to work on not panicking. That will make Warp much more effective.

It does combo nicely with Playing Dead, though. Shoot at them until the duration is almost over then warp away and watch them get confused when you don't reappear. Or if you're lucky, you could Warp halfway through the duration and end up in a nice place to get the drop on someone.

Man, now I feel the need to play some more...

I set my powers to my control pad. For some reason they have the down activate the powers by default. But if you set it to up, it can be easily integrated into your playstyle.

Tried out warp a bit last night, I found it to be more useful on the closed space stages rather than the more open ones, mostly because it's easier to hide yourself. Not sure if it's more useful than the Eggplant Power I replaced with it yet.

That's the only part I dislike about powers, that you leave yourself wide open while you're selecting one.
