Arguing in the context that you advocate views that are as you admit a direct contrast of the current status quo.

It is much more powerful to say, "I want infinites banned, and btw these TO's do as well and these tournaments were a great success with said rule in place," in the current climate than it would be for you to simply make a thread.

Dissent is healthy and needed if it grows the community imo

More or less: If you will not follow others, you are now a leader.

If you truly believe your cause is good, then actively lead it in concrete terms rather than abstract terms.

I want to help you be more constructive in how you go about arguing. I think you have some great things you can offer the community. This is actually what I've been doing recently to help give you some ideas outside of the things you mentioned in your post.

Hi! gonna post this on your wall because discussing the thread within the same thread is just going to drag it off topic, and I'd rather the topic stay focused.

I never accused you of trolling, I'm simply stating that it's a very likely plausibility - people are probably going to interpret it that way and respond with less than serious responses. You have to know your audience and come up with a way to present an argument to them that they can take seriously - even if you have people against your idea, there will be people against your idea that will at least give it serious consideration and discuss it maturely.

Frankly I don't mind if you want to argue for a change in ruleset for our community - the way our game is made basically requires a fairly complicated set of rules - but you have to expect resistance to your suggested changes and fight through them, with reasoning, testing, and things of that sort. Even if you WERE trolling (again, not saying you, simply saying it exists as a possibility), it gives the community valuable insight and parallels to draw for their other ruleset making decisions. So while "hypothetical trolling Arcansi" seeks to bring chaos to the board, he's actually giving the community an opportunity to see things from other angles, and I can appreciate that.

Also - as far as me popping popcorn and doing nothing - unfortunately it's not my board, I can't really do anything regardless. I can give a heads up to other mods in case it does get out of hand, but based on responses from mods within the thread, they feel it hasn't, so I seek no reason to pursue that path. If you feel other users are trolling you, you can use the report function (there should be a red triangle with a "!") to contact the mods who actually are able to do something on the board.
