In other words:
A brawl n00b who does weird stuff and tries to call it a combo and name it after himself.
Awwwww yeah.
Pretty sure he doesn't know wtf is going on in this thread...
Edgehogs? CC? Competitve Game? Kawmboes?
Even his shade of blue is inferior.

I have a question...how lethal/useful is when you Dair when recovering from the edge?
Is it one of those "Ohh crap LUCK" things? Have any of you applied it to your game?

Wait, are you asking if:
A)It's detrimental to get hit by Marth's Dair while recovering?
Yes. ****'s weak. Avoid at any cost.
B)It's helpful to Dair someone while they are recovering.
Yes, but I like much more safe options. Samus' Dair is a meteor, so it can be canceled, so it puts you at risk to try to kill them with that if they recover from it.
C)I have no clue then.

Update:
More character match ups.

On another note, I now have some footage of me playing against people. And, just as I expected, I'm not flashy or anything, so they are a bit dull to watch :/ But, I do win. So, around Christmas or some time, I'm going to get a VHS to Digital thing so that I can upload my videos :D

Update:
I got that thing I sent me. So, I am now in the process of uploading some videos to youtube. I'll tell you guys when my project is done.

Admittedly, I was out of practice when these were filmed, so, the earlier ones, are full of mistakes and dumb decisions. The later ones of the day feature much better games between me and my opponents. I also got to do A LOT of Samus ditos for people looking for the answers to those fights. Anyway, johns over, you can take me for what you think now ;)

so... does falcon counter samus?

i can edge guard him pretty good... but i get combod WAY too easily.
(maybe my friend is extremely good at comboing floaties)
No actually, Samus counters Falcon. See HugS taking on highest level falcons, he makes short work of them.

HugS told me to either keep your distance with falcon (stay a long way from him) or be on top of him. You are at the advantage in both of these situations. I could write more about it but I think I'll get flamed so cba!

Meh, ok. It's not as black and white as you may suggest. Common knowledge of Samus is often grossly misleading...

Falcon has some moves that break smash missiles, no? What distance will Samus have when her main projectile is rendered useless? CF can easily jump over the Charge Shot, and can punish Sammy for charging it. Isaiah vs Hugo, Isai would win IMO.

claiming games dont make sense ... when ur at a high level of play match ups can b very different according to how a player reads the other ... IMO hugs vs isai can go either way depending on how they play ... but as a character match up cf beats samus

at least thats how i see it lol

Almost every move in the game stops both kinds of missiles. All you have to do is let the hitbox touch the missile without it touching you. Heck, I wouldn't doubt it if Luigi's taunt could stop a missile.

Other way around, buddy.

See HugS taking on highest level falcons, he makes short work of them.
You make it sound like he ***** them inside and out. Its always close when HugS fights against a Falcon.

HugS told me to either keep your distance with falcon (stay a long way from him) or be on top of him. You are at the advantage in both of these situations.
He told you personally? Who knew. And keeping distance isnt always the best thing in my experience. Samus' missle game isnt that good. And being above him? NEVER! You'll get get Uair'd out of your ass and you wont be able to do anything about it.

I could write more about it but I think I'll get flamed so cba!
You would get torched because it doesnt make sense. But that's why we're here to stop you before you do something embarrassing.

YAY I actually read a post.

EDIT: I hate having this May 2008 thing right next to all my posts . . . I want my old account back!

I hope everyone here knows that it's ok to send me IM over AIM. I'm usually on all the time and I can talk to you there if you want.

What I would really like to do is open up a party chat to discuss character match-ups, as it seems everyone has a different opinion on those. I can take the culmination of that discussion and post it under the match-up. Cool? IDK.

I would love that.
Might not have much to contribute but I would learn so much.

@ coreygames

Uh, HugS might say differently, while I definitely would. As for on top I meant near him, close range and pressuring his shield (also he can't do anything out of shield against samus her sex kick comes out too fast and out-prioritises him). If I wrote more I'd get flamed not because I'm wrong but because this boards has no one respectable posting here. I don't feel as if I need to impart my knowledge here, I'm fairly competent with Samus :/

Certainly more so than the likes of AIDS

Excuse me? Are you saying that this board isn't reputable because we don't have a moderator peering over our shoulders constantly or have M2K on a shrine in our sticky threads? Well excuse us. I would like to think that I am somewhat directing this small band of players on this board and that I'm doing a fine job a facilitating people's needs. I have a video thread, a how-to thread, and PM and IM, people constantly. I think we are doing fine in their absence.

If you feel that you do not need to impart your knowledge then you have no reason to impart a post. If you are going to be snide to a collective over character choice in a videogame, then do it within your own character board.

Nooo, I just wrote you a good response but pressed back on the internet. Forgive me for being arrogant and condescending, I usually hide my useful points behind my ego. You do a good job of keeping this board alive and repsonding to the demands of people who come here for answers. I merely meant to point out that there is no kind of Cactuar Q&A thread or any high level knowledge source.

I consider myself pretty versed in samus knowledge, but I'm sure you do too. We need HugS or someone to give us his opinion because it's pretty freakin' valid.

This is why I want Melee to stay alive though. I think that, if I can go to some reputable tournaments, I could show everyone how high I could place. But... Melee is dieing. I may never get the chance.

Also, how can the knowledge I give not be valid if it works? I mean, if I tell someone to do something, and it works, then how is that any different from a "reputable" member saying it? It's not like they've never been wrong themselves.

Cactuar is hot! now gtfo you can't play samus scrub.

But it makes a different because they are experienced at high level play, and that's all that matters imo. I want to get to peak so I listen to what HugS says and try to fit it into my game. I bugged HugS in PM's so much but being the nice guy he is he responded every now and then. his advice was HELLA useful too.

But my advice is not? I got a PM earlier today telling me thanks for the information in this thread alone. You would have a hard time convincing them I'm not a reputable source.

And what defines "high level play"? If that includes playing high level players, then I would have to be included. I lived in AZ for over two years, I played a good player or two.

Stop bashing coreygames. He's the only one who's been actually here for the past time and shares his knowledge. His advice is good; maybe you'd disagree because you don't see "SSBM MLG Las Vegas coreygames(Samus) vs Ken(Marth) 4" on YouTube, but you can also disagree about the American economy being in a crisis.

Samus should not lose to Falcon so long as the falcon isn't levels above the samus player, which unfortunately, is usually the case.

I don't see what falcon could do to be a counter to Samus. Just don't get kneed. You shouldn't ever be in the air enough to give the Falcon the opportunity to do so.

HugS has proved my point. A lot of this information in this thread, while informative, is not actually that accurate.

Marth is Samus's worst match up, it's verging on impossible. I want some HugS Q&A thread pleasse. Or HugS I'll PM you on myspace some questions.

Yes, it is accurate, and you are beginning to get on my nerves with your constant undermining of my... authority. I never said that Falcon is the hardest match up. I never said that Falcon was impossible. I did say this:
---------------------------
Captain Falcon-
Falcon is sort of a combo *****. The best thing you can do in this match is to avoid the approach. If you can avoid the initial move, dodging the rest is fairly easy and results in punishment. Watch out for the Uair. The move will go through anything of yours and can keep you in the air long enough to go into another or a finisher.
Obviously, knees need to not make contact... at all. If you get hit by one, expect 3 more to go with it. If you think a knee is coming, you can Up and B and knock him away and make an escape without getting hurt.

There's not much to say here other than avoid getting comboed. Once you get him off though, USE THOSE UP TILTS! He can't get on the stage as long as you time your Utilts well! If he tries to go above you, don't get fooled by his ridiculous DI. He can go behind you and still have time to DI back to the edge. Just be careful.

----------------------------

What of ANY of that information is not valid aside from personal preference in style? I outlined the necessity to not allow yourself to get comboed, since that's Falcon's strong point, to stay away from danger areas in the match, and what Samus' strengths are against him (edge guarding him). I said everything and more that Hugs JUST SAID in the post above yet you would go with him over me because, no offense to him, you evidently have some hard on for people with purple or red names on SWF.

Marth is Samus's worst match up, it's verging on impossible.
No, it isn't. That's YOUR OPINION, not the consensus. I believe the consensus would agree that the problem facing Sami is Sheik as she is the DIRECT COUNTER of Samus in nearly every way. Some people have a lot of training against Sheiks and may claim someone else, but, for the majority, she is the problem that's asked about the most. She is the source of most frustrations in Sami in tournaments. How many people have come to you and asked you for help? How many of those people asked for Marth or Sheik? In my case, it's overwhelmingly Sheik.

I want some HugS Q&A thread pleasse. Or HugS I'll PM you on myspace some questions.
Then do that, but don't deface me because you don't feel like listening to my advice. You can take your furry lifestyle and keep it out of ours. Please.

HugS just proved Corey's point about the Falcon match-up. I think you're taking your internet persona bull**** a little too far.

If you don't have anything constructive to say, then shut up and leave. Christ, at least P can troll and dole out good advice at the same time; all you're doing is undermining someone to piss them off.
