In no order:

Galaxy Plant - Super Mario Galaxy
Bowser's Road - Super Mario 64
Last Five Hours - Majora's Mask
Quercus Alba ~ The Enemy who Surpasses the Law - Ace Attorney Investigations

But honestly, though those ones are in no particular order, I must say the most epic one I've ever heard in my life is:

Megalovania - Final boss music from Earthbound Halloween Hack. Hope it counts.

Hard choice. Least to best:

5 - Fire Emblem Theme (Fire Emblem series; This is my favorite video game series... it's just so epic. Gives me chills when I listen to the Smashing... Live! performance.)

4 - Nemesis King Bowser (Super Mario Galaxy; The most epic boss battle music I have ever heard.)

3 - Siege on Bowser's Castle (Paper Mario 64; This song has been a favorite of mine since childhood, man!)

2 - Green Greens (Smashing... Live! / Melee; This is a very fun song, and excellently played.)

1 - Gusty Garden Galaxy (Super Mario Galaxy; You should know why I put this at number one. If you don't... ...wow.)

define epic.

the most underappreciated video game composers are jerry martin and marc russo. they composed the music for the sims and sim city 4, which still have two of the best soundtracks of any game in any genre.

i just tried to find a song to post here, but they are all so damn good.

as far as console games go, let's see...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z2kxFCQ_mQ - super mario galaxy gusty garden theme

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=322V5rD6ko4 - ocarina of time forest temple

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbXOyXaJJBc - pokemon silver final battle

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYb9kSCkjE8 - giygas battle

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-otEdq-Ozo - super mario 64 slider music

No Touhou music yet? Alright, guess I'll go.
1. Touhou 11: Hartman's Youkai Girl. Same thing played forwards as backwards, and sounds amazing both ways.

2. Chrono Cross Opening Theme. Just amazing. Never got around to finishing the game, though.

3. Touhou 6: U.N. Owen Was Her? There are a few songs I like more, but the things this song has sparked surely means it deserves to be on the epic list, no?

4. Touhou 7: Necrofantasia. Once again, there are songs I like better, but this seems more 'epic' than the others.

5. Touhou 8: Never Die, To the Moon! Mokou's theme. The song itself is very complex, and just sounds amazing.

Honorable Mentions:
Pokemon G/S/C: Lance Battle
Xenosaga I: All tracks. Yes, all three of them.
Touhou (All): Everything. Did I mention I'm a Touou fan?

I know I'm leaving plenty of things out, but I can't quite remember....

No order to them. Spoilers about some of the games ahead I guess. You've been warned.

1. Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume - An Abyss of Niflheim If you managed to finally get through this game and receive the best ending (kill none of your teammates, you almost need to get the other two endings first so you have more abilities at hand), you get this music during the boss fight against Ailyth. You finally get to whip that smirk off of her face...and she changes into a huge demon dog, complete with cutscene of her transforming, smirking the whole time. Oh dear. (watch at the 1:55 point if you just want the transformation, and not the reason why you should hate her.)

2. Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) - His World (Zebrahead Version) Something good about Sonic '06? Blasphemy! Well, I happen to like some of the music from that game. Brawl has the instrumental version of His Word (Crush 40 Version). I happen to prefer the Zebrahead version for some odd reason. Sue me. I like the faster pace of it compared to Crush 40's verison.

3. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance: Ashnard's Battle Theme Given how little he thinks of everyone, wastes lives, and how much he only cares about power in FE9, I just love this theme. It seems to fit him very well, and I love the feel it gives to the last battle. I generally love the final boss themes in the Fire Emblem series, but this one is my favorite. It should have been in Brawl instead of that stupid Oliver theme. Too bad you don't get to hear much of it in game, you're too busy aethering him to death.

4. Tatsunoko vs Capcom - Burning Wasteland Screw Orbital Ring, this song is where it's at. Much more epic feeling, and frankly fits a fighting game better. Casshern in general has better music for his stages than the other characters.

5. Custom Robo - Forest of Nostalgia The first time you hear this song in particular is eery. You've just found out everything you knew was a lie. The world used to be a bigger than the dome you know. It's so big, it's actually round! But an entity known only as Rahu destroyed the vast, vast majority of humanity, leaving only a barren wasteland behind him. Whatever the being was, it was a silent, invisible, lethal force bend on destroying all humans, and their word. The only reason
humanity still exists is because he managed to trap himself inside of a child's toy: a Custom Robo. He was then defeat, and kept asleep since then, with everyone's memories of the outside erased. Oh, and by the way, that strange robo you just battled with that weird stage where the grass and trees felt more real (as all real trees and grass were destroyed) was Rahu. He's awake, and regaining his power. Have fun.

BTW: I hate you TC for only allowing 5 songs.

#1
Gusty Garden Galaxay (Super Mario Galaxy)

#2-5 in no order
Dragon Roost Island (Wind Waker)
Saturos' Battle theme (Golden Sun)
Mjolnir Mix (Halo 2)
Dire Dire Docks (Super Mario 64)

Probably others I'd chuck in there, but these definitely stick out to me the most at the moment...

GGG though is just perfect in every way imo. I'd stop playing and just listen to the music so marios sound effects and voices etc wouldnt go over the top of it lol.

Grieving No Longer
Chrono Trigger - World Revolution
CT - Secret of the Forest
M&L Bowser's Inside Story - Final Battle
LOZ:OOT - Gerudo Valley
Golden Sun:TLA - Sailing Through with Determination (the overworld theme after Jupiter Lighthouse is lit and the party from GS1 joins you)

No particular order. This is just off the top of my head so there's more but I felt like sticking to five (if I were to expand the list, my first thoughts would be TLA's Mars Lighthouse and Battle 2, which was cut from the original CT but found a use in the remake).

Also, about anything by Pokeremixstudio. But since those remixes weren't in the actual games I don't think they count.
