nah that pickachu was powerleveled against a legion of spearows. but ash and pickachu were almost wiped out because the begining is the hardest part of a tv show.

i ***** elite four with charizard and zapdos, with some articuno ice beam when i felt like it,

Fire burns grass, but as we all know plants intentionally burn so they can just seed and expand more, fire is doing their own bidding.

Edit: tbh I'd probably go Charizard because there are plenty (alright, some) good water-types available later like Staryu compared to the lacking fire-type, whilst Grass is just poor in general (I mean I guess you could catch like an Oddish or some **** if you're desperate)
