Well the deadline isn't until the 7th so I imagine if people haven't been posting by now they will by then. However I think it's late enough to start voting for whoever and see if we can flush someone out. Though I have no idea whom to vote for.

But as Scav continues to draw suspicion with his analysis and even compares himself to me (and really, who wouldn't want to be me) I still can't decide on whether it's all innocent or not. I suppose we'll all find out soon enough.

I'd say Mr. Inactive doesn't have much time left.

I think it'd be wise to keep Scav around for at least a few more days. I don't trust him, but he's active and posts a lot. Those aren't the people you should go after first IMO, unless they're getting innocent people killed every day.

Also, a question, has this been played in the Back Room a lot before?

Vote me out. I have Gustav coming within, 72 hours, and I'll likely be without power, internet, and maybe even a house, so the safest and smartest way to move this forward is to lynch me, and see how the night phase continues. Eor and Matt still have my suspicions, Scav, as do you, but that is not for now.

Unvote: Eor
Vote: Eric

I think CK is innocent (unless he's really cheap). Although taking out inactive players is usually the best course of action, numbers also matter. It's pretty stupid to take out someone who's probably innocent, although it seems like a decent solution to the first round voting problem. I'm interested to hear what other people think. =]

Eh, I don't think we should vote CK out. Not yet anyway. It might be a good option as the deadline draws nearer, but right now we still have plenty of time.

Really, the longer we wait, the more information we get. Sure, accumulating information now is a slow process, and starting night right now would speed things up a lot. But we don't lose anything by letting things play out, except maybe a bit of time. It's worth it in, my opinion.

So, yeah. Let's just wait until we've got a solid lead or are nearer the deadline. We're in no hurry.

Just because you've made long posts and pointed out specific people doesn't mean you've proven yourself valuable. Baby Jesus comes to mind from Mafiascum for someone valuable that isn't the most outspoken.

Marc idk what you're talking about the last two paragraph's no offense <3.

Man this whole valuable person thing is starting to remind me of a group of spam-masters -_-.

I am in Mobile, Alabama after the longest 3 hour car ride ever (the trip SHOULD take 3, we made in 6 and half thanks to ****ing traffic).

I will be here until Tuesday at the earliest, so if you guys don't mind me being sporatic, I can stay in.

I'm sorry, I'll try again.

When I played this game we had different rules. The first one I mentioned was that there was a lynching vote every day (as in, every 24 hours). Now someone gets lynched whenever that person has a certain amount of votes. This means not everyone has to vote, while voting is actually one of the most valuable sources of information. Also, an in-game day can go on and on, especially in the early rounds where no one is sure of anything. If you didn't vote in the system I played with, that counted as voting on yourself and after a few missed votes you'd die anyway. This was to weed out inactive players.

Votes in that system were also anonymous until the lynch was posted by the GM. This way you could trick the bad guys into going along with voting on an obviously innocent person, while doing something else yourself. Good way to see who jumps at a chance to vote innocent people out (that, or you can see who's just plain stupid).

Is this understandable? It's just game theory and I'm pointing out some stuff.

Inactivity as well as not saying anything specific in any of his posts. He hasn't said anything besides making asinine comments, imo worthy of a vote.

Vote Count [7/14 to lynch]
3: Crimson King (Crimson King, Matt, Goldshadow)
1: Mic_128 (Eor)
1: Goldshadow (Scav)
1: Matt (tmw_redcell)
1: omegawhitemage (KevinM)

A deadline has been set for Noon EST, Sunday, September 7th.
At deadline, plurality counts as a majority lynch, including "no lynch."

Fair enough, Kevin ;) OWM has my suspicion for that reason as well. Now that Marc and Kevin are a bit more active, it seems like OWM, Mic and Mashad are the lurkiest. I still believe Goldshadow is the best suspect, as per my reasoning above.

CK, you raised some concerns about (and voted for) Eor pre-Gustav, but now voted for Goldshadow. You mentioned you wanted to "put some pressure on Eor" and keep the discussion from dogpiling on any one person. What changed your mind?

I'm interested in what Omegawhitemage is thinking, as well as if Goldshadow and Matt keep their votes on Crimson King now that he's safe from Gustav. Then again, Matt's obviously the Class Clown, so his votes will end up being either the most insightful, or the least :p. It remains to be seen if he's Feste the Fool or if he's The Joker.

Marc, I'm impressed with your contributions so far, even if they're mostly meta. I look forward to sparring with you in future rounds.

Hey, Mic! What's up!

Hey Scav! I got Spore! (It's my anti-WoW)

I'm inclined towards Kevin because he seems to be after OMW, due to his lack of aggression.

Mind you, I'm far from sure v.v

Well, I originally voted for CK because his voting for Matt after the "joke" and "joke vote" seemed kind of suspicious. But then he suggested voting himself out due to the hurricane situation; that leads me to believe he is town. I assume that mafia are smaller in number than the town. Therefore, mafia stands to be at a larger disadvantage upon losing one member than town. If I were in that situation, where I knew I would not be able to access the internet for a while due to some kind of natural emergency, if I were mafia I'd probably say "I don't know when I'll be able to get back on the internet; if that's okay with you guys, I'll stay and be inactive for a while" knowing that my side stands to lose more if I were lynched/kicked out of the game; I would probably not say outright "lynch me" and then vote for myself. But CK was very forward in suggesting that he be lynched; since town does not stand to lose as much upon loss of one member, this could mean he was town.

Forgive me if it seems like I'm implying that life-affecting emergencies are on the same level as decisions made in internet forum mafia games; I'm definitely not. But based on CK's calm and composure when he made those posts, that is what my thought process would be.

Another work post for me, so it's gonna be short.

I'm not really sure yet what to make of Matt's (and like Scav I'd wager they're role-related) antics. Shifty voting is also raising a flag, but I'm out of time. I'll be back later.

First of all a question: Do we know exactly which roles and how many of them are in this game? I’m used to getting an overview before the game starts (like 8x villager, 1x seer 2x wolf in an 11 people game).

Scav: Thanks for the compliment. =]

I like to put out lists with my comments on people when a vote or nightly kill is drawing near. Of course, this is just what I think at the moment. I also tend to suspect people who think like me a little less early on. The only certainty I have is my innocence. Unless the mafia is playing a daring game in which they’re going after each other, people who come to the same conclusions as me are more likely to think as a townie, and are thus more likely to be a townie. Btw, all the voting and unvoting is quite confusing when you’re not used to it, but oh well.

Anyway, here we go:

Very suspicious:

Goldshadow: Claimed to vote randomly on Xsyven. He unvoted for no clear reason, and changed his vote to Crimson King. Why? He also stated not to take his early votes seriously, which just seems really defensive to me. A vote is ALWAYS serious, and early votes can be very important later on. When people started calling him out on it, he changed his mind about CK.

Mic_128: Even after Mediocre pointed out Matt was in the danger zone, Mic went ahead and gave Matt his fifth vote. This means he’s stupid, no matter which side he’s on. A townie would be more careful with his vote, a mafia member wouldn’t act so obvious, or would he? He also did very little to defend himself. Now he’s leaning towards Kevin because he’s after OWM... err, shouldn’t Mic be after Scav? Really suspicious or really stupid.

Suspicious:

Xsyven: Has been joking around a lot at the start. His vote was the fourth one, the one that put Matt in danger. After Mediocre’s post he unvoted and started acting more serious, which makes me believe he was just joking around before. He also didn’t go for someone else straight away, which is a good thing IMO. Still, a bit more suspicous than most other active players, but I’d rather vote for Goldshadow, Mic or an inactive player right now.

People I want to keep around for now:

Crimson King: It always strikes me as odd when someone posts a lot right after the game has started. Other people noted this suspicious behaviour and he seemed one of the people who are more likely to be lynched. His vote on Eor is also quite daring. The whole Gustav thing makes me want to give him the benefit of the doubt for now, like most other people seem to have done. He’s also looking at Goldshadow right now, and with good reason IMO.

Eor: Doesn’t post that much, but what he posts is pretty good. He also thought Mic’s vote for Matt was suspicious.

Mediocre: Points out Matt is close to a lynch, something he’s not comfortable with. In his post he almost takes it for granted Matt’s on his side, whichever one it is. If one of them turns out to be Mafia, I wouldn’t be surprised if the other one is too. For now, I think Mediocre is being a **** good townie who doesn’t want to stupidly kill people and most of his posts so far are valuable.

Scav: He pointed out that we should keep people who contribute a lot around, unless we’re pretty sure they’re mafia. While I agree with this, Scav probably knows that strategy keeps him safe from the lynch as well. He came to the same conclusion as me concerning GoldShadow’s change of mind. If this guy is mafia, he’s really dangerous. If not, he’s one of our best players, provided he doesn’t get killed early on.

People I know too little about:

AltF4: Called everyone else out on their conformist behaviour against Matt. Hasn’t said much else.

Matt: Random behaviour and I’m not really sure what to make of it yet.

tmw_redcell: Maybe I’m missing something, but this one seems like the most inactive player. If we decide to take out Mr. Inactive after all, he’s right here. I think we don’t have to though, some people are already really suspicious, while this one is just neutral at the moment.

Yeroc: Just goes along with what Mediocre and Scav are saying so far. Might be a “silent bad guy”, which is really dangerous. Not much we can do about that in the first round though. I’ll just keep an eye on him for now. Please post more.

KevinM: Joined late, hasn’t posted much and doesn’t agree with Scav’s “elitist” posts. He did follow Scav with his vote for omegawhitemage, which makes me think he’s just being honest and doesn’t use disagreements to make other people suspicious.

omegawhitemage: Hasn’t posted anything really and feels threatened by Scav, which he is. Time to defend yourself, or I just might move you to “suspicious”.

Yeah, I'm going to play hardcore until I head back home (It will be tomorrow no matter what), because once there I can only go on about 5 hours a day, and I'll likely have Spore + homework + real work (hopefully).

That being said, to Scav, I chose Goldshadow because of pretty much everything Marc said summarizes my feelings. It wasn't a revenge vote so much as I am wondering his motives. Eor is still on my "people to watch" list, but I think Goldshadow is the safest option overall. If I am wrong on this one, I apologize.

Looking back on the supposed "suspicious" folk's posts, I don't really agree with the analysis at hand for reasons that I am just too silly to extrapolate on! I will, however

Okay, let's go through some of my votes and/or actions.

Vote for Xsyven: Random, as I stated. I guess this is understandably suspicious. Without any real information to go on, I picked a member at random (after the spree of "Matt voting").

Change vote to CK: After Xsyven pointed out that the "joke voting" could be a legitimate attempt by mafia to lynch someone, I picked the person who initiated the "Matt voting spree": CK.

As to saying not to take my early votes seriously: Well of course it sounds defensive, as somebody called me out on my random early vote and rapid changing of votes, and I had to defend myself against these accusations. This is my second mafia game; the first I haven't even finished yet (Medi's). I guess random or flip-flopping early votes are bad. Duly noted.

As for unvoting CK: That had nothing to do with people "calling me out". Like I explained in my previous post, that was because I felt CK's actions appeared more town-oriented than mafia.

I'd prefer 'inexperienced' to stupid. It's my first Mafia game (where things look like it won't take 2 weeks for the first day) so I'm still getting used to all the subtlies and junk.

And yes, I voted for Matt, but as I said, I was just joining in on the joke. And as for why I'm leaning towards OMW, to be honest, I kinda just picked on him because A) no one else had yet and B) I didn't see any reason why he couldn't be mafia.

Also Matt, that last joke was actually pretty funny.

GoldShadow: Your defense sounds pretty reasonable. I still think you're suspicious, but we'll see how things go.

KevinM: Yeah, but I think it's pretty clear that I trust you for now. You just weren't around in the earliest parts of the game, and there isn't much else to analyze yet.

Point taken, but your actions were pretty foolish so far, also...

You joined in on the joke AFTER it had become obvious that Matt could actually get killed. It's reasonable to assume that the Mafia would try to take an opportunity like this. The joke was pretty much over. First time or not.

I also said you were leaning towards KevinM (not OWM :S), which is based on this quote:
"I'm inclined towards Kevin because he seems to be after OMW, due to his lack of aggression."
The first person who went after OWM was Scav, not KevinM. Also, why do you think people shouldn't be after him?

Oh, and no one answered my question yet.

Yeah, I spotted that and almost hit edit. then thought "Ah, he'd know who I meant anyway"

If Scav did go after OMW too, I missed it. And I think it'd be more likely that town wouldn't want to just charge in and start pointing fingers, but I could be wrong.

I know about the silliness going on back here, but most people are (now) playing seriously, so I don't think people can keep hiding behind jokes forever. Scav was the one who made OWM suspicious in the first place. I'm also not sure at all about you being Mafia, it's just that to me you're one of the most suspicious people so far.

Any news of that redcell guy yet? Also, my earlier question? =[

Haven't seen anything from Redcell yet since those first few posts, heh. Is he playing hooky through first period?

I didn't really "go after" OWM, but I did use him as an example of someone who isn't contributing much. I said something to the effect of, "He and I both have the same likelihood of being Mafia." Everyone is "acting suspicious" at this point in the game.

Marc, I can't seem to find your question :( what was it again?

Goldshadow posted some pretty good reasoning. I'm still keeping my vote trained on him, but he's acted a bit less threatening since the initial attack. Mic, "I've never been in this situation before" is a valid excuse, but it's also a scary one. Your actions have drawn attention not just because they're suspicious, but because they're mistakes often made by rookie mafia, specifically. Goldshadow, this same argument goes to you. Inexperience explains some, but not much.

Though to be clear: I do not support voting for Mic this round. I find joke voting less threatening than random votes and votes that change for little reason. It's weird, I know: the joke vote got *really* close to killing Matt, whereas Goldshadow's vote was unlikely to gain traction. But joke voting is a common way to start the game, and this is a Broomy highschool, and it's Matt, so it didn't surprise me in the least that our mob mentality strung him up immediately.

On the other hand, a random vote *after* Matt is at 5 just creates discord, and shows a flippant attitude towards votes and townie's lives. Goldshadow never said it was to "stop people from killing Matt" or to "create discussion" or to "get people to focus on someone acting suspicious." It was just a meaningless vote. Which to me says significantly more than a joke vote.

I still believe Goldshadow is the best candidate, unless Mr. Inactive remains Mr. Inactive. If Redcell doesn't post at all, I would much rather vote him off.

So, we have until Sunday. That's a long time (Sounds like English class! Yaaaaay, English class!) AltF4, where'd you go? Yeroc, think you can post when not doing [school]work?
