How are you supposed to win this game???? I was 1/0/1 on cho with 60 more cs than anyone in the game.

@Scamp: Any time I see a Jax or Akali all they make is gunblades. Both of their passives / kits heavily support it. It's not viable in SR due to the fact that it's a completely different game mode and you dont get 5g/s in SR.

This doesn't make any sense to me at all. Sure it's a different game mode but the point of the build doesn't change between modes. I could understand saying it's a different game mode if you were doing some kind of movespeed/capture build, but beatdown is consistent in all three game modes.

Also what does the gold have to do with it? Unless the build is some ridiculous 5-lategame item build then you can build for it in either format. We're just talking about multiple gunblades here, no reason you can't do that on SR.

i'd actually say

Boots gunblade lich bane, the + capture rate item because akali will be capping alot and she needs to be able to get in and out much quicker. and the speed boost + cap rate gets her moving in and out alot faster.

Just won a Dom game as Riven going 4v5 cuz one of the guys on our side DC'd at the beginning. Carried like a boss, backdoored everything, was best on team. Felt good.

K, so I'm trying to theorize a magic pen jax build that would be better for...

-laning from levels 3ish->11 against the normal top lane champs and caster switch-ins.
-better for 1v1 farmfests top lane after a tower is down.
-and still a boss late game.

This as opposed to the normal AD marks+quints, dodge yellows, mr glyphs rune setup, which is weak early against the popular casters, and hit or miss against most top lane melee champs.

Main reasons for me wanting to try this being the above and also because I wanna...

-try to make use of the fact that all his abilities are magic damage.
-he's got pretty decent AP ratios for a low CD combo.
-Most peoples' rune page setups for their top laners include lots of flat armor, even though Jax does a ton of magic damage.

It's a 2.4:1 AP ratio on his Q->autoattack->W+R combo, with an E somewhere in that mix.

I'm trying out magic pen marks, dodge seals, ap quints, and ap/lvl glyphs for now.

With flat AD marks/quitns you always get the cutlass first of your gunblade, but if you go magic pen/AP, revolver seems like a better first buy.

Dunno if the normal gunblade/rageblade build is the most efficient. I'll end up trying revolver->rylais->deathcap, and revolver->gunblade->rylais. Extra slow is probably unnecessary, however.

That set of runes is even weaker vs casters because you don't have MR glyphs.

Gunblade is hands down Jax's best first item to rush because he benefits from every stat immensely. Lots of damage on both sides, lots of sustain, active slow to help stay on top of people. It's literally the perfect thing for him, I would rarely skip rushing that right off the bat unless you're doing something delayed like Wriggles first.

AD is also better on Jax than AP for a few reasons. He can crit with AD over AP, he gets a 1:1 ratio on his Q from AD, and his skillset contributes to attacking faster. W resets auto attack timer, and ult makes you hit faster. Everything of his that does Magic damage has a CD besides ult (well technically you could just count it as a 3 hit counter) while right clicking does not. Besides his ult, everything also costs Mana to use, while right clicking Dragon/something a bunch over and over won't cost you.

Magic pen isn't that bad on him, but you actually end up doing more damage early on with flat AD stuff than flat AP.

Base AD is 60. With runes and masteries, he easily gets to 78, and that goes even higher if you start with D Blade. Either way, having 18 more damage at level 1 (just runes and masteries) gives you 30% more AD than you start with, and that's a bigger boost of damage both auto attacking and using stuff like Q, than magic pen would give you. That AD stays relevant since he has a 1:1 Q ratio and he'll still right click the crap out of stuff and cause he'll get bonus health from it.

WHY IS EXECUTIONERS CALLING CONSIDERED BAD?

I mean I know its not like the greatest item ever but i've been experimenting with it and teemo and have came up with this

usual build for my teemo goes like

Dorans blade x2 -> boots 1 -> Madreds little claws -> Phage ->Zerk greaves/merc treads -> Wits end -> turn madreds into blood razer -> Black Cleaver -> Executioners calling -> turn phage into mallet

so in the end
Zerks/Mercs
Blood Razer
Wits end
Black Cleaver
Frozen Mallet
Executioners Calling.

thoughts?

I've seen it on GP because Parrley applies it. Makes his harass even more annoying and gives him an option vs sustain.

in theory it looked like a pretty good replacement for a dorans blade. aside form losing 100 health but I get that back and more when I finish frozen mallet. (I usually finish frozen mallet last though)

I get executioner's as an early game item on nocturne/some other melee dps.

crit + life steal on badasses with too much free bonus ad like yi/noct/pirate love the item.

In other words, by the time the item is useful for most characters (i.e. they already have good damage/etc) the item slot is better invested towards zeals/pds or bloodthirsters.

It's an early/early mid game item. You don't need a lot of damage for it to be efficient.

Also, does anyone else who use Poppy run a different build? I normally try to rush Philosopher's Stone, Boots1, then Sheen (in that order) before focusing entirely on Trinity Force.
After I get Trinity Force, I finish my boots with Berserkers, then Infinity Edge, get Phantom Dancer, then Hextech Gunblade, before eventually selling my Philosopher's Stone for something like Banshee's Veil or Quicksilver Sash.

What I'm wondering is if there's an alternative way to build my set up that can prove to be just as effective, if not more (only AD Poppy of course. I'll learn AP Poppy a little later).

I think I'd rather have 3 Doran's Blade than an Executioner's Calling. The only problem would be there's quite a bit of wasted gold in selling back the Doran's, so I don't really know if it'd be worth it.

For kiting you usually see Frozen Mallet instead of Triforce cause the slow isn't guaranteed and damage wise while you can proc easily with his ult, you can't do it consecutively on proc cooldown without burning through mana. Unless you wanna wait for your ult counter to wear off, but why go through all of that when you can just guarantee the slow with Frozen Mallet?


If you want straight AD Kogmaw, regular stuff like Bloodthirster IE etc. On hit/AS with Madreds and more AS orientated build obv. I like on hit/AS more, if only for easier Dragon control (cause he shreds Dragon with Barrage and madred procs along with jungler madred procs, and lots of free vision from his Ult) and because it makes him go a different route than most traditional carries building IE/Bloodthirster and P Dancer. You also have incentives for building on hit AS since you have built in free AS and on hit health shred.

Yes yes and yes. On my match history there are 4 games where i build frozen mallet. Its just sometimes depending on the enemy bruiser you dont need it to kite them. Like if they have super good gap closers its a must. But kog with frozen mallet is super funny. i kited pantheon all day in game lastnight.
