If Edrick get's in; We'll make sure Square never hear's the end of it. They're all about the money; so let's hit them where they hurt.
Aw but I wanna buy Erdrick.

Fatmanonice Fatmanonice is it even worth fighting for Geno anymore? Square is just too soulless and cold heated to make any difference...
It’s always worth fighting. The moment you give up is the moment it’s over. They have to eventually put Geno in. At the rate they’re going they’re including two fan favorites a game (happened in 4 and Ultimate, at least). The pool of fan favorites is getting shallower. Maybe it takes three games. Maybe none of us are playing Smash anymore, but we gotta keep pushing. We gotta be ready because if a second ballot comes, we have to win. Geno fans are the ones with the most to lose.

Full List (forgive the engrish):
I love the Taco children and Sands.

Aw man, if the list true, I lowkey regret buying the Fighter's Pass lol.

Erdrick is incredibly disappointing, but only because I want Geno much much more. But Geno doesn't have to be treated as a complete SE rep. He's cool I guess.

Doom Marine, in my opinion, is super whatever, and I treated his potential inclusion very similarly to Joker's. So I hope it's fake because that would be kinda whack. He'd be a...what, a more aggresive Snake I guess? A more violent, but less violent one? I guess it's a legacy pick for FPS? Right? That's the argument. I feel like I should argue that legacy picks super ceding other choices is kinda....limiting?

Steve im very ambivalent towards as well. Don't really care.

Ryu is actually pretty cool, but eh, can someone sell me? Is he just gonna be Shiek with a sword?

All that said...I'm only REALLY excited for Joker...that's....kind of it
Since I really agree with your assessment (except Steve is a no buy for me), I’ll try and explain Ryu Hayabusa.

Basically, he’d probably be much faster than Greninja but way less jump height. He has a sword, and shurikens (bigguns, unlike Sheik’s ****ty needles). Plus tons of magic scrolls (fireballs, shields like Mega Man’s, the works). From the newer games he has suplex style moves like his Izuna drop:

I can't believe 2019 is here. It's amazing getting to speculate with you all :)

Next year is the turn of the decade which, doesn't feel real to me to be honest. It's scary how fast time flies.
I know. So many things are going to happen this next year. We could very well see our boy Geno being one of the DLC. We could see a remake of Super Mario RPG and something for the Mother series. We will see the remaining DLC. There will be so many new things in 2019.

Does anyone else get burnt out by coming to this thread and seeing people being super pro Geno’s chances then super pessimistic and talking down to people for having some hope then being optimistic again and talking down to people feeling pessimistic? I get it to a certain extent but after awhile I just feel bleh about it all.

Also regarding Erdrick and how people should respond to SE and whatnot:
There’s a big spectrum between joyously consuming every single thing a company puts out and singing their praises even if you actually are let down and mailing suspicious packages to SE execs over a character in a video game. It’s possible to be critical of decisions made by companies without being toxic or aggressive. If people are genuinely unhappy with Erdrick they should speak up and make themselves heard.

Sure, “vote with your walllet” and all that but if you want a company to specifically know why you’re doing that then you need to articulate why you didn’t buy something or didn’t like something you bought. It’s 2019 (basically) SE and and Nintendo have social media accounts for a reason. They take into account things said to them there. And history has shown companies adjust plans and strategies based on consumer feedback. You can bet your *** the legions of Sora fans are going to make themselves heard when Erdrick gets in and Sora doesn’t. So yeah. If Erdrick is legitimately a let down for you because you’d rather have Geno or even someone like Crono in say something about it. Because sitting around complaining in threads while also purchasing the character and not saying something directly to SE and Nintendo about it is only going to lead to similar situations happening in the future.
God yeah. This thread is the embodiment of whiplash and it’s pissing me off. Literally nothing is different yet we have everyone ****ting themselves while singing praises anyway because god forbid anyone not like a Smash character no matter who it is. Everyone needs to chill.

Currently drunk in a pub arcade with my wife, loudly swearing while we try to take the piss out of each other in Mario Kart for the SNES. Hope you all are having a good night cuz I'm fookin' near Enlightenment. Anyways, on topic, Erdrick still isn't the end because aside from a Japanese ****post, we're still in the dark about the other three and Sakurai's recent interviews make me no longer think a Season 2 is totally out of the question because he no longer does the character balancing and his work load is significantly less than it was.

Keeping up with this thread is really getting exhausting. By day, we're all super excited and riding the hype train into the sunset, but by night, the enlightened pessimists come in here and chastise us for having hope and suddenly we're running around like chickens with our collective heads cut off. Not gonna lie, it's starting to piss me off a little. If y'all are intent on keeping up this Day/Night cycle, then frankly, I'm just gonna check out of this thread until the next piece of Smash news comes out of Nintendo themselves. Honestly, speculation just isn't fun anymore when everyone hyperfocuses on the word of "insiders" and rejects anything that doesn't fit into the insider narrative.
And forgive me, but why are we even giving this ****ty 5chan leak the time of day? Really, it just seems like another LaxChris-tier text leak to me. I'm actually starting to wish for another Grinch-tier hoax just to break us out of this stupor.
Oh, and happy new year and all that. Here's hoping Nintendo lets us know whether to give up hope or not within the year, because frankly, I just want off Mr. Sakurai's Wild Ride.

You can keep saying it's just one source that was unreliable, but this still equals not all of his sources being reliable
So an unrealistic and unfair narrative. This is why people don't like the point you're making. He dismissed the unreliable person himself. Only his trusted sources, which isn't the one that said the DK stuff, have proven to be reliable.

There is no such thing as "all or nothing" with leaks. We already know for a fact companies put out leakbait. That doesn't mean real information is impossible either. Which Verg blatantly had. How do you expect a leaker to be 100% right when companies are intentionally making sure they'll get fake information alongside real information? That doesn't make any sense.

Until Minecraft content ceases to exist, Verg has been the most reliable leaker in Smash Ultimate history. And I'm still skeptical of that(besides it being prime leakbait). The DK information is worthless against him. Especially when he outright said he didn't believe it. It's why he never came out with it. Because he only came out with information he was sure on. The actual legitimate two points against him so far are the Minecraft content(which admittedly is very easy to be leakbait, but it was noted that his sources had a lot of conflicting information. There's a lot of possibilities why) and that the SE character wasn't shown off first(which is actually a very notable point against his information on DLC. That's not a case of leakbait. That's a case of getting information straight-out wrong entirely. His only response was a guess, but unlike his strange guess of them switching it up, it's far more likely Erdrick or whoever the SE rep was actually ready to be revealed first in general, but the VGA came up before that, and Joker was a better choice. It's possible they already have both of the basic trailers done, similar to Joker's, which aren't gameplay-based. Just simple announcements. So the switch isn't impossible in this case, because all it was is an announcement, not proper gameplay being shown off. And I'm honestly skeptical of the switch too). To say the least, I don't think Verg has real DLC information. But we won't know yet till more actual things come up.

You should stop trying to look at Verg's information as black and white. It's not. There's clearly more factors to it. No leaker has all the information. The fact he didn't have some characters is proof of that. Doesn't mean he was unreliable or his sources were. Only one source was unreliable, and he never gave credit to that source for that reason alone. You can't seriously think a single leaker will have all perfect sources. That's just not how it works. They will get people who lie to them or know actually nothing. Or even have information that's leakbait(and when it comes to leakbait, the people who have that information that are giving it to leakers don't know it's fake).

Curious. When did that become official? Would love to see so I can tell the boys! :D
This'll take a while to find. When it happened is very difficult to say. Though I might be in error. Though also to be fair, there's kind of no questioning he's FFVII's mascot either way. The bigger point at times were that nobody can properly tell who FF's series mascot is anymore, which shouldn't be some kind of debate. If nobody knows for sure, then it's likely complicated or not really clear(it's possible to have more than one mascot, after all). The other thing is that DQ wasn't a case where it was questionable. We all know Slime is the de facto series' mascot in itself. Different games can have their own mascots, however, or sets of games if applicable(like Pichu is for Gen II).

Happy New Year, everyone. It's the final year of the 2010s, and let's hope 2019 has some good things in store for us. It's been amazing and fun being here with all you wonderful people.

Also, I'm a ****ing idiot for not realizing I have all the music tracks already and the Lifelight E3 (Smash Ultimate trailer theme) was cut from the final game, so I've been working my ass off trying to unlock Lifelight E3 in the game for nothing... of all tracks, I wish that one wasn't cut from the game. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go play Smash Ultimate while drunk. I hope you all have a wonderful New Year's Day.

I remember Ovaltine saying Tansut knew about Erdrick because he was supposed to be planned for base...

So did Sakurai really tried to get their most expensive characters in base game , even tho he was denied in Brawl for Geno , and could only get Cloud as DLC in Sm4sh with 2 music tracks?
Yeah sure Sakurai still is a big name in the video game industry , but SE really think Smash is just another triple A game. If they wanted to make Cloud more popular (and FF) with Nintendo fans... Just give them some spirits of others FF characters! I know that SE legal rights for characters are weird , but couldn't they do that at least ! Like , put a Vivi spirit from FF9 and say "Hey , you know , we're going to port FF9 on the Switch , just sayin' " it's that easy.

That's why I think these sources are flawed , this is a big red flag to me.

How many times did I read people who said "SE would never give Geno as DLC , they're too greedy" and now I'm supposed to believe this? i'm sorry , but no. At least the Grinch leak had tangible arguments for each side , we just couldn't disconfirm it without a reveal.

Also , another question you should think about... Except the "SE wanted as DLC fighter because Cloud isn't"... Why should they pick a SE rep when they have hundred of easier/requested/popular/iconic characters to chose from? Who would be worth the trouble from Sakurai and NoJ eyes?

The planned for base thing is kind of weird. Mainly, cause it's hard to say if it contradicts Sakurai's statement or not. He has gone out of his way to say nobody was added or removed from the project plan after it was finished. If Erdrick was planned for base, this means he was pushed to DLC. However, Sakurai has never said that they planned out any DLC from the start beyond, what, Rex's costume at best? DLC was went into later. It doesn't add up. PP wasn't decided immediately either. He's the only one that could've easily been base but moved to DLC as a bonus, possibly due to how long it took to make the character work well, as work done on it was near the end of the development cycle. It's not impossible, but I'm pretty skeptical on this.

You know, I'm starting to think some people make fake leaks just so they can enjoy watching the fanbase tear itself apart.

Also, he's got a scythe. I assume that it would be non-instant kill, much like :ultness:'s baseball bat.

Also, my opinion on the 5Chan leak is as follows:

It's funny, usually admins always gave out warnings to people going into other threads to troll or anti-support. Doesn't seem to be the case anymore?

I know double posts are still enforced religiously, punishable by account death, but I'm not really sure what the other priorities are.

I wouldn't call it trolling at all, given what's being referred to is just Geno fans losing a lot of hope for this first pass, myself included. That being said, anything that is blatantly anti-support would be awful, I agree. However, that isn't what's happening here.

Anyhow, happy new year, everyone! I hope 2019 treats everyone well! Let us keep our hopes alive for Geno to be revived someday, Smash or not, shall we?

Happy new year, I just hope you guys can keep your heads cool this year.

You just NOW figured out that "leakers" are chaotic evil? XD
Wut, I didn't actually think that was the case and they were just being gloryhogs? I was just guessing here.

Double-posting is only ever noticed in publicly-noticed threads, nothing happens or a select few people go "naughty, naughty" when you do so in dormant or lower-key threads.

Last night I had a dream that Geno was the unrevealed, final newcomer for Super Smash Bros Ultimate. He didn't have a reveal trailer, but he was a playable character in the game.

But I need him to have a reveal trailer

I personally keep having dreams of him being revealed myself.

One I had last night was really anti-climactic and made no sense whatsoever. Basically, assist trophies were being promoted to playable, but only as an extra stock per character (i.e. Dark Samus had Ashley, for some reason? wtf dreams I didn't even particularly want Ashley). There was, however, a spirit that was also promoted, and that was our good star boy. Don't know who he was attached by the hip to, though. Probably Mario?

I had one some nights ago that was amazing, though. It was a remake of the original Smash 64 intro, but instead of the doll being awakened being a 64 veteran, it was Geno's being brought to life. It was honestly incredible, and I was just agape by the end of the trailer. I wanted to squeal like a freaking piglet in the dream, but, well. You know those dreams that silence you, and you can't move or do anything no matter what you do? It was like that.

Let me tell you, I was so disappointed waking up from that last one.

Happy new year guys. Let’s hope 2019 brings us amazing things just like last year did. We Isaac fans are still going to fight hard for golden sun to come back as a franchise and we are wishing you guys the best of luck at getting geno back. Let’s give it everything we got!

I know. So many things are going to happen this next year. We could very well see our boy Geno being one of the DLC. We could see a remake of Super Mario RPG and something for the Mother series. We will see the remaining DLC. There will be so many new things in 2019.
We could be seeing Porky as DLC in Smash this year as well.

Yes, he got DLC wrong. But only that. And I agree he now should be taken with a grain of salt. I frankly do not remotely believe his story at all. Not saying it's impossible, but it doesn't add up to me.

Mind you, I didn't think Isabelle was going to be in either. I was right, though, that she would be a regular clone of Villager if she took things from him/her, and that her personality would be happy-go-lucky, just like Amiibo Festival. But that was after I warmed up to her when I learned that she enjoys happy-fun competitive games in an official AC game(I do not count crossovers as a canon personality in any way, so stuff like Mario Kart etc. is irrelevant to me). So in the end, after my perception and knowledge of her changed... I actually called nearly all of it right. The only thing I got wrong of her was that I thought she would use no regular tools. But considering the lack of the Fishing Rod with Villager... that's not a bad thing~

The point of the previous paragraph is to show just because I don't believe in a scenario(as the one Verg presented) doesn't mean he can't be wrong. But yes, I don't think he knows any DLC. Though I still think Minecraft content is coming, regardless.

To each their own, I respect that.
What would be really neat is Ninten as a bonus Lucas echo (not part of the fighters pass) and Porky as the DLC fighter. That would be the best outcome. And along with this the 3 Mother games remade

If we got both Ninten and Porky, I wouldn't ask for another Mother rep ever again. Mother would be completed in the roster with those two.

Same.

Well, for the complete line-up of Mother protags and antags, we would need Ninten, Ness, and Lucas for the protags, and Gieugue and Porky as the antags, and throw Claus/Masked Man in there as well. Although Ninten and Porky would alone create a god tier of Mother reps, for the absolute EXTRA god tier amount of Mother reps, Gieugue and Claus/MM as well.

Mother should be the next FE in terms of reps lmao

I just thought up of a way they could reveal Geno as miscellaneous DLC. It's December 2019, and after they reveal the 5th and final fighter for the Fighter's Pass, they pull an unexpected announcement of an extra character that is not part if the pass. It's part of a final Smash Ultimate Direct presentation for DLC.

Basically, After Sakurai says his goodbyes, it fades to black and it cuts to a trailer with the Living Room stage, except it's nighttime and there's a dog asleep by the TV. By the dog, we see several dolls. Mario, Bowser, Kirby, Samus and Peach are the dolls. It then cuts to a star twinkling in the night sky coming down into the living room and flies over to a mysterious doll sitting up in the shadows. The star goes into the doll, and it gives off a little spark. The screen then fades to white, and the doll is now alive, slowly stepping out of the shadows. The camera first shows a foot, then a hand turning into a gun, and lastly, a blue hat with a yellow symbol on it. The camera then zooms out, and the doll opens his eyes, and strikes a pose as a splash screen shows up, with it saying this:

GENO Stars in Smash!
Then, the Living Room turns into Battlefield, and the others dolls seen awaken and proceed to jump at Geno.
Gameplay of Geno then begins to start, with his entrance being a star going into the Geno doll, and then Geno standing up. He then proceeds to turn to the camera, cross his arms, and nod. This is a taunt. He is then shown using Geno Whirl on DK and Pikachu on the Green Greens stage. Next Geno jumps over Samus's missiles and dodges Mega Man's forward smash by rolling. Samus and Mega Man are seen running up to Geno and Geno performs his down smash, sending them both flying.

It then cuts to Pit shooting arrows at Geno on the Garden of Hope stage. Geno dodges the arrows and then Mario jumps in to reflect an arrow at Pit. Mario performs his thumbs up taunt and Geno is seen nodding again. We then see Mario, Peach, Bowser, Geno, and a Gray Kirby (The Mallow stand in) all running on the Bridge of Elden stage one by one. Geno is then seen performing Geno Boost to raise his attack and defense and uses Geno Whirl on Ganondorf, sending him flying.

Last but not least, Geno is shown using his Final Smash, Geno Flash, turning into a cannon and firing his spirit self into Meta Knight, Ridley, Ike, and Sonic. After the Final Smash, Geno uses his legs as rockets to fly into the air, with the Smash Ultimate logo coming in as it usually does at the end of character reveals.

At the end of the trailer, Battlefield reverts back to the Living Room, with the dolls, except Geno, left in the position they were found in. The camera cuts to Geno, with a Mario RPG text box that has Geno say "It's good to be back." and then the trailer ends. It then cuts to a screen saying "Geno will be available in February 2020" and then we go to the "Everyone is Here" banner and Geno is added to the banner.

This but with Geno as the last main DLC character :D

And here I'm having nightmares about paranormal beings. You guys are lucky ******** for having dreams about Geno reveal trailers; in fact, I don't think I've ever had one dream that involved Super Smash Brothers. I wish your dreams were real! Having a Geno reveal trailer similar to the Smash 64 intro would be one of the most unique and best ways to introduce him.

Hopefully I'm not cursed or anything, but I've been having weird dreams for quite sometime now.

My dreams are so boring. The one I had during the 2018 Direct months was about fighting a giant classic Wario wind-up toy that sat there and did nothing, while under attack by Bob-Ombs.

Also, personally speaking, I would prefer if periodic miscellaneous DLC is the norm at some point.
