I actually liked how he went over your Ninten presentation, though I don't recall if he mentioned you or not because I wasn't aware of who made it at the time even after the video; I just thought it was a nice thing to do, covering someone's work instead of baiting people with leaks (although I now realize it may have been another crappy attempt for views if he didn't mention you).

After seeing how he seriously considered what was obviously Project M Ness with his fan-design Ninten costume (with Brawl Battlefield and graphics included), however, I stopped paying attention to his leak videos, which as you can see make up 99% of his channel (tbh I only saw a few of his videos during this speculation cycle and learned he's just seeking attention).

Has this guy never heard the expression "Don't sell the bear's skin before one has killed the beast" in his life?

I would just like to point out the possibility that we could get all 5 characters revealed by e3. The direct said they'd all be released by 2020, but that seems more like insurance than anything. "If you buy the fighter pass, you'll DEFINITELY have them all by this point," and the part that is all but implied is, "but probably sooner." The way I see it, in January we're going to get a direct where Piranha Plant is available immediately after, they show off Joker a bit, and they reveal one character, saying Joker/#2 is going to be released later. A few months later, Joker/#2 are released, along with #3 being shown off. Then at E3, they blow us all out of the water. They reveal #4 and #5, and then say #3/#4/#5 are all available at the end of that presentation. This would mirror Smash 4 DLC pretty well.

Bonus points if they announce a second fighter pack at E3 or a few months after E3.

Yeah, I was thinking something along the lines of that. "By February 2020" could be a case of exact words here.

God don’t get me started on the Brawl mod Ninten fiasco... He coulda ran it past me first as he’s known me since mid August but nooooooope. But yeah, he’s almost certainly doing it just for views at this point. He milked the **** out of the Grinch leak so I personally see no difference with what he’s doing here with the Square rep leaks.

I know I said as much awhile ago but you can bet your ass that if Erdrick is revealed as the SE rep there is going to be significant backlash. I don’t care how historic the dealmaking would be. Most people outside of Japan would not give a ****. People are going to be pissed because
1. He’s literally the most generic animu swordsman in the history of animu swordsmen which has been a huge criticism of Smash since the last game.

2. He’s not Sora. People in the gaming community are unironically expecting Sora and have been for awhile despite evidence to the contrary especially after the Joker reveal and the idea that no character is off-limits. It’s a self-inflicted set of unrealistic expectations but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re very present and vocal.

3. DQ has next to no popularity outside of Japan. Not much else needs to be said on this point.

I’m hoping people aren’t super toxic towards SE, Sakurai, Nintendo, etc. but I’m predicting a huge amount of backlash. At best it’ll be indifference and maybe some maymays about Goku in Smash. At worst people are going to be pissed about a character no one asked for or particularly cares about getting in over characters fans have been asking for for years. This would unironically derail the DLC hype train that started with Joker. It would also possibly sour a likely Lloyd reveal as well because he’s very much an anime swordsman as well. Reggie said these dlc characters would be very different and do different things than characters already on the roster and Lloyd and Erdrick? This ain’t it chief. This would honestly go over worse than pirrhana plant and the sad part is SE, Nintendo and Sakurai aren’t going to see it coming.

-Plenty of moveset potential, including gliding and making puns

I think a redesign is most likely, especially since his fighter spirit would have to be different from the spirit already in the game. (or maybe the fighter spirit could just be a different pose from smrpg or something i dunno) With how the mii costume looked, I'd say a redesign of some sort is likely. Especially looking at Pit in brawl and King K Rool.

I agree with you on Eddy, but Lloyd? He's gotten a lot of support to be the next Namco rep and he wields 2 swords, so Sakurai can make a moveset for him to be different than other swordsmen. He got a Mii costume too and Sakurai considers him to be the definitive Tales rep. I think he would be deserving for the spot.

Since nobody really knows the DLC characters, I think the less we know about Geno, the better.

To clarify I meant specifically that Erdrick being in there along with Lloyd would cause people to view him negatively as a consequence of having 2 anime swordsmen in the game even if his moveset does set him apart from the others. If it was just Lloyd and not Erdrick in I don’t think it’d be a big deal. Also taking a step back if you had Lloyd, Erdrick, and joker you’d have 3 very anime looking reps from traditional jrpgs. Just from an optics standpoint it seems like a bad call on Nintendo’s part to do that rather than trying to diversify the dlc lineup a bit more. At the very least it doesn’t really come across as being very unique or different than what the roster already has on board.

I imagine Sakurai would reimagine Geno based on a modern action figure rather than a wooden doll. I'm expecting it to have transforming parts and hidden guns everywhere. Just how R.O.B.'s whole body was envisioned as a fighting robot. He definitely wasn't that flexible, or equipped with flamethrowers and lasers.

I just realized something. Had Sakurai had his way with Square and got Geno in Brawl, we could've seen him duke it out with Meta Knight in the competitive scene for that game.

Also, just one quick question, if Geno was a fighter and was in WoL, which area would you have to rescue him in? I'm thinking Dark Realm.

That is a good point. Still though, I wouldn't count Joker being anime along with Eddy and Lloyd a problem due to his unique moveset potential, Sakurai being a Persona 5 fan, and his popularity and I wouldn't count Lloyd along with Eddy and Joker as a problem due to the same things with Joker - unique moveset potential, support for Smash, and Sakurai's view of him.

Eddy would be a huge issue. He doesn't have support for smash, global appeal, or moveset potential. I would just be dumbfounded if Sakurai chose him over Geno due to the reasons I have mentioned in this post and working with the companies and the composer, especially when Geno is one of the most supported Smash characters, Sakurai's interest of bringing him to the roster, and Sakurai and Nintendo already obtaining the rights to him

I'd say where his spirit is right now or where Mallow's spirit is, like next the giant star (gourmet race) is because Geno's home is Star Road, so putting his actual self near a giant star makes sense. What makes the most sense is putting him in space since Star Road is in space, and Geno comes from space, hence that's probably why his spirit is in space. I also thought Geno's character could've been in that one foggy forest in the middle-left area of the light realm.

I don't see Geno's actual character being in the dark realm, I just don't see it. I feel like Geno would've been one of the characters you would've gotten in the middle of the light realm's story (progression wise, not area wise).

I could see that, and if Sakurai has his hand on designing him for Ultimate, I could see intricate decals on his cape and hat, similar to how he handled Peach's and Daisy's dresses. Nothing so out of place that it drastically changes his overall design, but something integrated to make him look a little flashier.

Also, I don't see a Slime Mii costume either, but not gonna lie, a Slime Mii hat would be pretty cute.

Yeah, it should just be a port with a few changes, like promoting assist trophies, most notably Isaac, Waluigi, Shadow, Skull Kid, Krystal, Bomberman, Shovel Knight, Ashley, etc. Dixie and Toad need to at some point get added as playable. Bandana Waddle Dee, Geno, and Banjo-Kazooie should be added if they don't make it as DLC in Ultimate.

I just had a realization, and bear in mind, it's very tinfoil-hatty. It's a massive reach, and I am acknowledging that right here. You reading this should acknowledge it, as well.

So, we know Persona 5 was on Sakurai's mind as he was working on the project for Ultimate, as it inspired the UI and, either as a tangentially related consequence or an incredibly coincidence (given NoJ choosing DLC and us not knowing Sakurai's fullest involvement with that), we have Joker as DLC.

Now, think about it. Let's look at what was on Sakurai's mind around the time the project was about to go underway. We know Persona 5 was, and by way of the Geno mii costume, we can presume that Geno was on his mind, as well. How much was Geno on his mind, though? Spirits are a different team, confirmed in an interview and all, so that doesn't really count. Was anything in Smash inspired by Geno?

Well... very possibly, yes. After all... isn't it a bit odd that Master Hand has very few new moves to his arsenal, but one of those few just so happens to behave and look exactly like Geno Whirl? Perhaps it was a coincidence... but what if Sakurai had Geno's SMRPG move set in mind? What if he was looking into his move pool? However, why would he be specifically looking into his move pool? There would be no reason to... unless...

Wait a minute...

See what I'm getting at? What if Geno was, indeed, planned for the base game, and had even reached the full-on planning stage before ultimately (heh) being scrapped? This could be good or bad. Under the pretense of this theory being true, either he was scrapped and there are no further plans for him, or... there are further plans for him...

Hmm.

Yeah, I still doubt it's gonna happen there.

While Nintendo does make announcements (rarely) outside of Directs/their own events, it only happens at the VGAs and that one time at EVO, and they had a public presence at both; there's nothing about them being at Jump Festa.

This is like when I thought they'd announce Minecraft stuff in Smash at Minecon and I was silly to think so.
