(This is just speculation, please do not misinterpret this post) Given everything I've been hearing from my contacts and my source, I'm leaning to the Enix rep being Geno, Sephiroth, or DQ. I still personally believe Geno is the most likely given what my source has heard, and hopefully he can get complete confirmation (unless the reveal is at VGAs), but if it's not then it'll likely be one of those 2. The majority of contacts I've spoken to have also heard DQ more, or lean to it for other reasons. Sephiroth was supported by a couple other contacts of mine.

So basically, we think that Geno has a 1/3 chance of being in against those other candidates. In that case, it's time to bring out the math:

Hey you know what would be fun for the Geno thread instead of people saying how much they don't think Geno will be in:

What kind of crossover character interactions would you like him to have if he gets a CGI trailer? I'm talking characters other than Mario, Peach, and Bowser. I think Rosalina would be a good character for him to be paried with. Also Megaman in a weird way meshes well with Geno though he was already in the Ridley trailer.

I'm not even a Geno fan. I don't post on this thread often. I only came here for SE rep info, but I'm willing to come out and say that this is good stuff.

We actually know an answer for that. Nintendo thought fans liked ATs and have been getting a rude awakening with this game. Phones and email boxes have been blown up because of Isaac and Waluigi alone and Nintendo's kind of beside itself for misreading the fans that much.

And I'm honestly kinda sad to hear that. Bc in the end, the AT characters weren't going to be in the game anyway, so them showing up as ATs would bring these characters that would just be a jpg for us to see become something interactable in the game. People have no idea the dangers of what they do and wish for.

It's not, trust me. Remember what my source found out: Nintendo isn't fully aware of the demand. They honestly didn't think the Isaac fanbase was that large, and they ESPECIALLY did not expect hate mail. They're not as informed as we think they are. K Rool and Ridley, so far, are the only characters that reached them (unless Geno did too).

We know Geno reached Sakurai at least, as he did say Geno gets a lot of requests.

My worst case scenario was Box theory being Right, before the grinch leak My expectations were in check saying “Eh, whatever if the Box theory was right at least we got K. Rool and ridley plus we’ll probably get Geno as DLC” but the Grinch leak kinda blew all of our expectations out of the water with what looked like all of our dreams becoming true, Banjo? YES! Geno? HELL YEAH! Isaac? WOHOO! so When the night before the Direct happened I was trying to keep my expectations low and still came out dissapointed. Sure I got over it, Inceniroar looks fun and Piranha plant is hilarious but my point is even with Low expectations sometimes you can still be Dissapointed.

Not to derail the current topics, but I wanted to see everyones preferences on this.

If you could have any 5 video game characters in Smash which would they be? You can also choose a stage and one song.

For my personal list it would be

1) Noctis(FF15), Insomnia as stage, Apocalypsis Aquarius as the song.

2) Ryu Hayabusa(Ninja Gaiden), Castle of the Dragon as stage, Unbreakable Determination as song.

3) Spyro the Dragon(Spyro), Stone Hill stage, Spyro 1 Theme.

4) Will(Advance Wars Days of Ruin) Rubinelle and Lazuria Battleground, Wills theme song.

5) Master Chief (Halo) Ark (Installation 00) as stage, Halo Main theme.

Dude, the Master Chief would be an awesome Microsoft rep for Smash. Halo almost made it on the DS, and FF7 almost made it on the N64, so the Master Chief is in the same position as Cloud. Hey, if Solid Snake can be a Smash character, so can the Master Chief. If I were to choose a Halo stage, I'd probably pick High Charity from Halo 2 because the stage will have Covenant structure platforms along with the Forerunner Dreadnought in the background, and that would be cool. Maybe the In Amber Clad can fly in the background because it did one time and crashed in High Charity.

But the Ark from Halo 3 would be cool, maybe the Shadow of Intent (Assault Carrier) and sentinels could be flying in the background.

For me, it was easily the worst thing that has ever happened in Smash's history, and probably the most disappointed I've ever been in anything related to gaming. They really need to stop hyping these up like they're Super Bowl XLIX and then shoveling us crap. 10,000x worse than Corrin & Bayonetta... how could a game that started off so well end so poorly? Reveal order was horrible. Call me ungrateful, call me cynical: borderline undid the greatness of & ; admittedly, they did an amazing job creating the plant granted the little they had to work with.

Honestly, I actually was pretty excited when they revealed there would be DLC.

Id assume Isaac did pretty well on the ballot as well. Seems odd that only K. Rool and Ridley would be the only ones to reach them.

Which begs the question, how does the character approval process for ballot results even work? Just the top 2? 3? It's been said that the Melee poll results took years to clean up, too...

You've been through this too many times. All we can hope is that Nintendo has differing philosophies than Sakurai, which I imagine is the case.

I feel like they revealed a lot of big guns like K. Rool and Ridley at the start because of leaks. The ENTIRE GAME was leaked two WEEKS before launch, and even without that, Vergeben knew large pieces of the roster before the game even got an official name. (and, for other games, both Brawl and Smash 4 had their entire base roster leaked before launch)

By the time that Vergeben was seen as an extremely credible source (thanks to the Simon reveal, which he had been saying was definitely happening even before E3), the only characters left to reveal were Isabelle (which he had put on the same level as Simon), Ken, and Incineroar.

If they had saved Ridley or K. Rool for the end, then they would have been revealed before Nintendo could show them off, whether it was through Vergeben, the box leak, or the game itself getting put on shelves before the street date.

I got the fighters pass game bundle already. I’m pretty sure whoever is DLC I’ll enjoy playing them, even if I don’t care about the character themselves. But that’s just me.

Can I just point out how well your icon went with that explanation. I don't think there will be only one music track per DLC though, recent Nintendo DLC often offers a lot more than the bare minimum.

Ah, but see we have to consider all the aspects of income. If we are only going to put a character because of how well they did in a Smash ballot, but they cannot create long term income is it worth it?

I used to think this but Nintendo calls the shots, not SE, and they don’t always make decisions that make sense to me.

Why do people who don't know/care about Geno come into the Geno thread to question why people want Geno? That's the bigger question here.

I have to admit I’ve almost gone into the Banjo thread to ask the same thing, because I don’t get him and wish someone had the patience to explain it to me, and the best place I can think to find someone is the Banjo thread. But yea, people can get tired of justifying themselves, or just explaining the same thing a bunch.

I actually do like ATs, and feel like being an AT is pretty good. Not as good as playable, but I definitely like them being ATs if they’re not playable, it’s like half being a character, to me at least. Especially now that killing them counts towards your kill score!

Wow so much new information thank you all for the new info but I wanna give my 2 cents about this. I believe that Geno is in HANDS DOWN, Sakurai has acknowledged Geno that he wants him in, he had a mii costume in smash 4 so they could easily reuse his model and do some touch up's with ultimate. I don't care if Geno makes it in or not (of course I'll be disappointed but I won't riot) but I have a GOOD FEELING he's in
