The fact we have is: there was nothing in December 2019 related to Smash, thus you can't say Smash consistently releases something in December.

Are we speculating mid pass bonuses again? Yeah, outside of echoes, there is honestly a small chance and even echoes aren't too likely. That's not how Nintendo handles DLC. If we get unique characters, its part of the pass. Echoes are a long shot too but actually not as much. Echoes just have less of a point of existing than fully unique characters so as DLC there isnt much point. While im not counting on it, dlc after the pass is still more likely in general

We'll just have to see what plays out tomorrow, everyone expected the Geno costume to come back with Hero as well. I still think we're probably going to see it but I'm also kinda with Fatman that something feels off. Stuff has been weird for awhile honestly and while I don't really like hedging bets on a Pass 3 or even just bonus characters, the general situation just... doesn't feel right. Various things do not add up and I'm hoping we can get some answers tomorrow.

What about the potential of a Pass 3 consisting of 4 characters to sell a bundled Smash Ultimate for whatever Nintendo does with Switch 2.0 mid 2021?
It's likely easier just to have the last 4 slots done a la carte, if at all, for sure. Though if the final 4 are mostly Nintendo or Smash Ultimate development partners maybe there is room for a "thank you" suite of DLC sold separately or bundled with Smash.
There is always the possibility that Geno plays like an echo of someone like Mega Man, which may be easier to develop around that basis and present it as a mid pass echo fighter addition, for less than the regular DLC bundle because its just a fighter and 2 tracks.

Except not really. I watched the things that got posted in this thread and wanted so badly to refute claims and spread absolutely murdered expectations, but things... maybe aren't like that. First off, I want to bring up the video description wording again, since it's still floating around here and there.
Google translate is a great tool, but it is not the be all, end all of translation. It struggles with syntax, and this is especially true for Japanese, where the construction of a basic sentence is ass on head compared to English. Where English typically follows subject-verb-object, Japanese follows subject-object-verb, that is to say, in English where the subject does to the object, in Japanese the subject to the object does.
Google does an ok job of keeping this in mind, but sometimes, stuff gets a little funky. Ultimately, this is splitting hairs, but look what you get when you just start separating the kanji out line by line and putting them back together piece by piece:
(the kanji right after 9 is a "counter" and right before is the equivalent to "number" abbreviated as "No.". It is fair to call that kanji the equivalent to superscript "th" or "nd" or "st", as in 4th, 2nd or 1st.)
I remember that it was mentioned that in Steve's video, it said the same except replace 8 with 9, and in that situation, they are not calling Steve 8 or Sephiroth 9, but instead saying that the 8th/9th additional content will not be announced. Again, this is major splitting hairs as both readings say the same thing, just one of them assumes that they consider Piranha Plant the first "paid additional content", which is likely not the case. Just something I wanted to point out very badly.
I just... happen to remember a time that we were told that Nintendo learned from the Grinch leak, that maybe they ****ed up thinking it was ok to leave Shadow the Hedgehog and Isaac the Venushog to the last minute as assist trophies, and they realized that the fans feel slighted by that. I don't expect much from Nintendo, and I don't think that we're bigger than we are. There's a good chance that all of our wishes have never reached any ears, and they either have no idea how many people they're disappointing, or they're aware that there's just not that many of us... But I just don't think Geno's costume is coming with Sephiroth in 26 hours.
If it means we're getting strung along for another year, so be it. Something is definitely sketchy about the fact that the English twitter has advertised this presentation twice and not mentioned that there will be no additional fighters, the fact that this presentation is at the same time as the last Nintendo direct, and it will air at a reasonable time of day in every region that Nintendo serves. Something is up and I, of all people, have hope.

Honestly, Jon GameXplain has been predicting Geno since FP1 and has been wrong. I’m not sure Jon actually knows anything regarding Geno. If anything, it seems like a safe bet like a lot of other people are expecting the costume to come with Sephiroth.

I’m just saying those 4 extra slots could easily bring filled in a year.
I don’t think it’s a pass though, but just random characters. I could see Sakurai get free rein over those last four slots in the game files and having a blast. Geno could easily fit into that as well and would make sense since Sakurai has stated he knows the demand and love the character too.

Random topic but is anyone else slightly annoyed at the sheer number of reaction videos where the reactors don't recognize One Winged Angel at all? It genuinely kills me because there's only two things that have timpanis that loud: One Winged Angel and when your mom walks into a Baskin Robbins and I doubt anybody's mom is going to be in Smash anytime soon.

And I totally wouldn’t put it past Nintendo to do something like:
Super Smash Brothers Ultimate Premium Edition.
In which they bundle the entire DLC together on one disc. With there maybe being a few extra characters worked on to push this sale.

Another thought, it means nothing, but it's the kind of thing I want to put out there:
A long while ago I said that it was pointless to hate Piranha Plant because in the end, Sakurai wanted to make a creative moveset and applied Piranha Plant to it, not really the other way around. Sephiroth is a sword character with absolutely unparalleled range and who knows what other kinds of shenanigans attached to him - clearly some form of limit, as well (I'm thinking it's a Terry style where he gets it at high damage, like a true RPG villain). Sephiroth hasn't stolen Geno's moveset, and in fact, no one has. A potential moveset is still out there for this character, and that's that. Only our fan rules, which this community has stood up to in every other situation, tell us that Geno can't come now that Sephiroth is here.
Geno is a collaboration character, maybe even fair to say he is Nintendo's first collaboration character, and Smash is a collaboration game. He's definitely a Mario character and would come with Mario things... What company really is repped in that pack?

He's my second most wanted SE character after Geno. Of course he is miles away from my desire to have Geno, but on the plus side, he is also a pretty distant 2nd place from any other SE character they have to offer, so big ups to the best chicken out there!

I haven't actually seen any yet where they didn't, I mean, like you said it's one of the most iconic gaming tracks for a reason.
I will say I wish SNK never got leaked just so I could have a very clear marker for who actually knows their stuff and who only knows about Nintendo. Seriously, I'd never played anything SNK related outside of Metal Slug, and I still knew exactly who they were and all the games and consoles they made, they really aren't obscure people.

Yeah I also noticed that and it annoyed me a little bit too, it also shows that a lot of people are really NOT thaaaaaaaaat Final Fantasy fans as they like to say, they simply find Sephiroth's visually cool so they say something like "I'M A BIG FINAL FANTASY VII FAN!!! YEAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!" just to look cool.

Yes, holy hell. I've never played FF7 but One Winged Angel is a piece of music that may as well be the most famous hymn in the church of gaming. Literally within the first four notes I knew who it was, so when I see people squinting and acting like they have no idea who this sudden orchestra hit could be associated with, it boggles my mind.
Do these people play video games or do they just talk about them on youtube?

While Fighter's Pass 3 probably won't happen, I expect at least one bonus fighter at the end of the DLC after Fighter's Pass 2. Probably Waluigi or the Iwata tribute rumored character.

I literally found a guy who knew it was sephiroth because of the slash having a unique sound to sephiroth's sword… it's crazy lol
But yeah the most triggering thing so far is people saying it is kingdom hearts inspired, which is NOT. It's a ****ing homage to Advent Children movie, like get it right already PEOPLE.

Scanning through the last X pages of this is like seeing everyone going through the 5 stages of grief at different places and rates, in cycles. Right now there is so much bargaining going on.
I said this the other day, but Geno isn't going to be a costume tomorrow, just like he wasn't a costume when Hero came out. No one has had any idea about the last 4 DLC characters, or even costumes. Nintendo hasn't followed a pattern with its DLC, so at the very least the (understandable, sure) anxiety shouldn't be at a level higher than any other revealed DLC.

I have never played a KH or FF game and I knew that song. Who ever said that Sephiroth's song is the Boomer's Sans song is spot on.
But man, that music slaps. And I will actually cry if we get a joker situation where we don't get the music from the trailer. (If you didn't know, Life Will Change is not in Smash Bros)

This happened to me, too. The second I heard the note, I said, "Sephiroth?!" and no one else believed me until Cloud said his name. Like, what, do you NOT recognize that?? I don't even like Final Fantasy and I know it.
