I literally went over this yesterday. If nobody cares about Monster Hunter, like you say, then why has it been one of the most requested fighters since BASE in Japan? It should have been dropped right after Rathalos got shown off, but instead people wanted Monster Hunter in Smash more then ever. Literally ask anyone that is a regular in the Japanese scene and they will tell you that Monster Hunter has been consistently HIGHLY requested since base game. Even moreso now that Rise has been confirmed. It's like saying Minecraft is about mining and nobody gives a **** about Steve, so Minecraft should just be a stage.
And if you seriously think that Monster Hunter couldn't have more than what they did in MVC:I, I dunno what to tell you? There are 14 different weapon types, and last I checked Byleth only had 4. You could give them an item guage, you could give them a Sharpening gimmick, a partner mechanic, etc. If we go down to moveset
clearly Sakurai has nothing to work with. Saying MH is like Byleth is as wrong as saying that Dante would just be Bayonetta, or Crash would just be Incineroar.
Me: I think Monster Hunter has a solid shot, I don't think it's going to get in but it has a lot of things going for it currently. The amount of requests it's gotten in Japan since base almost dwarf any character barring the likes of Sora. That could easily convince Sakurai/Capcom/Nintendo, to give it a full blown Fighter in Pass 2.
You: WTF, they already negotiated too much content with MH and no one cares about a playable character. There is no way that they just can't go back and ask Capcom for more. It's an INSIGNIFICANTLY SMALL chance, they'd 100% go for Dante. Now they're going to go to Square Enix and negotiate for Geno because they clearly heard all the fan requests for Geno. And unlike MH, SMRPG doesn't have a lot of content.

It's like talking to a wall, you're clearly not going to change your mind on anything; so I'm just going to drop it.
