Yeah. It’s either he was wrong about the second direct this month or Nintendo found out about him and delayed the direct. But, why would Nintendo delay it?

every time a direct isn’t announced i start up a new file on smrpg. i’m starting to run out of files guys, nintendo better announce one soon.

To add to my point, I don't think this is a placeholder because there's no reason to change it so drastically if it's not meant to be used. I'm no developer but that seems like a waste of time and resources. Nor do I think the initial plan was to reuse Sm4sh's battlefield because:



Then why have like nearly 20 new Battlefield concept pieces? (edit: also why tease players with stuff that was maybe cut or has no plan to be added, that would be a **** move and Sakurai hasn't posted any screenshot of such so far afaik)
This is my first time seeing this - holy **** we got robbed, not getting that third one on the top row.

So, I'm sure everyone knows that I don't put much stock into these pics of the day, but this one really stood out even to me. It seems like with all the data mining that has been done on Ultimate, we would have noticed unused stages, so B4ttlefield is a true mystery.

Really makes me want to go investigate Yggdrasil's Altar and compare it to Mallowdemon to find inconsistencies like the reversed flags.

Also, looks like Zippo was wrong.

Axem Rangers are probably my favorites as well overall, but Booster is also one of my favorite characters from the game and I really like Bowyer's boss fight and how it happens when you first meet Geno. It's hard to choose one but I think I have to go with Axem Rangers cuz they're just so cool and silly.

I loved the Axem Rangers as a kid and didn't even make the comparison to the Power Rangers until I was a bit older. I was a little too young to care for Power Rangers when I first played SMRPG, so I guess it's normal to not notice the reference. I liked them for being a somewhat cohesive team, and since they stole the star right from under your nose they felt like a major threat.

The clock boss in Factory stands out to me, as well, because the mechanics of the fight are neat.

Also, because I can't say something without immediately wanting to look into it, I looked back at Mallowdemon and started comparing it to the real Yggdrasil's altar, and here's some stuff I've come up with that I don't believe has been mentioned:

First thing I did was simply go to Smash's website and look at Yggdrasil's altar to see if there were any inconsistencies.

Obviously, the first thing I noticed is the bigass rainbow design in the middle there. I said to myself - well, if I remember right, it's lit the entire time you're flying - but I was wrong!

The rainbow design cycles between "on" and "off" every 5 seconds. What's interesting is that it starts in the "on" state. Yggdrasil's altar spends approximately 4 seconds on the ground in this cycle:

1. Orbs take their places. - Symbol "on"
2. Orbs shine - Symbol "on"
3. Orbs return to normal color - Symbol "on"
4. Platform shines - Symbol fading
5. Altar leaves platform - Symbol off.

If you'll notice, at the beginning of a round, there is a flight of stairs that leads to the altar. It is very visible in the screenshot and seems to be in its default position - but the symbol is off. The gems aren't shining, so it can't be too close to the beginning of the match, and there's none of the rainbow lights effect visible that would normally be there just as the symbol enters the "off" state. With the angle of the Mallowdemon leak, at least some of that rainbow light effect should be visible, shouldn't it?

Just a thought. I wish I had my Switch with me and some free time to actually try a few camera angles. I know it's been confirmed you can't hit that camera angle, but something similar would do my mind some good.

How you like it? It's fantastic isn't it? First time I played it was back in 2010 on the Wii VC and I stop playing it around the caves area after you leave the Forest Maze and get Geno to join your party. I picked it up again in 2017 when I got a SNES Mini and I just finished SMRPG for the first time a couple of years ago back in 2017 before New Years ended. It was a wonderful experience for me.

I'd say the Axem Rangers and Smithy himself, in both forms. And maybe Belome in Belome temple.

Speaking of Belome, I thought he was some kind of four eyed cat.
Words of advice for any newcomers playing SMRPG: Never have Geno out when you're fighting Belome. Trust me.

Yeah, I meant not surprised that it did not happen just now. It could happen at 5 eastern time, but I am not counting on it.

You have to deal with an enemy Geno. Maybe even two.

To do some self criticism, I've noted that the little sparkly bits here and there are the effects of the rainbow platform under the altar, but even still, the closest I can get to the leak screenshot is this particular frame:

In which you can still see the color. I questioned myself for a moment, thinking "well, maybe you can't see that color if you take a picture of the screen", and two things:

1. The screen itself has hella pixel density or something because it's ****ing clean
2. we'd be able to see the colors.

They're nowhere near as crisp, but they're definitely there. With how good the monitor apparently is that the original leak was photographed, there's no way we wouldn't see those colors.

Well here we are again. Zippo may have been wrong about this but that's okay cool dude and I apperciate all he does. With news. My best to him.

I have no idea when this Direct drops. Really just a mystery will have to wait at this point. I'm sure we will get something before E3 but man.

Saw the PapaGenos video. Had no idea Wii U's Battlefield was out hope we get it in the future we'll see.

You know I think any franchise aside from Fire Emblem - that have additional characters will be well received. So many unique characters. Fire EMblem does also but it seems they tend to stick with sword fighters . Mario franchise i still want Geno - King Boo is another pick i would love to see. Madam Broodal from Odyssey (lol unique heavy fighter w/ a chain chomp.) ;P I can go on and on. jejejeje

Neku exist. I think. I have yet to play TWEWY, and it seems like he kinda doesn't exist acording to what happens in KHDDD.

Maybe I didn't frame my analysis properly - I'm looking at the stage this closely rather than the costumes because of Sakurai's B4ttlefield, because I wanted to see if just maybe there are developer inconsistencies.

What I'm pointing out, which I would love to debate, is the fact that in the leak, compared to the actual Yggdrasil's Altar, there seems to be a nearly 1 second inconsistency in the color of the rainbow symbol in the middle of the altar. This may even factor into the suggestion from mid-November that the "whale" is missing from portions of the video where the "whale" should be - perhaps he is not missing as much as he is displaced by several frames.

To troll the **** out of the leakers of course! Actually, now that I think about it, it's really quite ingenious.

STEP 1: Leak info about Directs/etc. with the expectation that insiders will leak the info

STEP 2: Purposely shuffle things around to destroy the insiders'/leakers' credibility

STEP 3: Laugh in Mario while the Smash community abandons all faith in the insiders so that Nintendo can at last act freely without fear of Dave Bowser's SSN leaking onto the internet when someone hiccups

.......or Nintendo is just negligent and stupid.....YOU DECIDE! :happysheep:

Favorite SMRPG boss? Definitely Bowyer with Yardiovich not too far behind. Bowyer is just chaotic evil and has no real plan for anything. The guy just decided to set up camp in the middle of the woods and just randomly fire arrows into the air. It's weirdly dark when you consider Rose Town is an absolute mess because of it and has hit parents, kids, and senior citizens alike. Yeah, it's a Mario game so obviously you can't go too dark with it but getting hit with an arrow is no joke. Unless you get shot directly in the brain, it's a slow agonizing death if any of your vital organs get hit. What makes the situation worse is that people are terrified to go outside to help people so the people who got hit are likely getting shot over and over again. That's pretty ****ed...

Imagine going about your day only for it to start raining arrows from the sky. Remember that scene in 300 where there's so many arrows that it blots out the sun? That's a more accurate depiction of how horrifying that situation would be, especially in the light that it's randomly hitting innocent civilians. Oh, they're paralyzed instead of dead? As if that's much better... Imagine a foot cramp but over your entire body, in other words, imagine sleep paralysis but you're standing up and fully aware of everything. Again, this is even happening to little kids because some psycho is just shooting arrows into the sky for fun. It's pretty sociopathic and why Geno's debut in the story here is so significant. If it weren't an E rated game, it would basically be the equivalent of Geno going after a mass shooter while the mass shooting was still going on.

I think this is yet another reason why SMRPG is such a landmark game because the stakes are higher. Even today, Bowser typically kidnaps his people of choice and then predominantly ****s off, having his troops target Mario and crew. In SMRPG, the Smithy Gang regularly targets civilians, even children. That's such a tonal difference from most of the Mario series. The Smithy Gang isn't just mischievous, tee hee, the game basically outright states that it's genocidal without flat out using that description. All its soldiers are literally weapons and mass produced, which is even more warped when you consider they're basically making serial killers off a literal assembly line. Going back to Bowyer, that's the messed up thing about it because he's not unique, he was literally made to be the way he is and one of potentially thousands of copies. It's honestly horrific but yet another element that makes SMRPG as unique as it is.

My favorite boss might be Punchinello just because of how goofy he is. He’s got those big ol’ arms, he not only uses bombs but looks like one too, and the way he’s defeated never fails to amuse me

The guy also says "It's CLOBBERING TIME!", so he gets extra points in my book for that as well.

I may decide to play SMRPG later if I'm ready to hop into RPG fights. Though, I do have experience on RPG thanks to DQ XI, but I need to try timed hits for maximum damage. Any tips on that and possibly others I don't know?
This isn’t necessarily a tip but just something that is helpful to remember: beware of input lag. Depending on which hardware you play the game on and what kind of setup you have, you could run into some pretty rough input lag that will really throw off the timing for timed hits.

If you’re playing on original hardware, opt in for playing the game on a CRT if you have one. If you’re playing on SNES classic, you should be fine as long as your TV has an HDMI port of course. If you’re playing on the Wii U VC, I actually ran into some input lag but perhaps I had a poor setup so it all depends really.

If characters crossing over to a different fighting game was a demerit, we wouldn't have gotten numerous characters...most recently, Terry, who appeared as a guest in Fighting EX Layer less than two years ago.

Edit: Scratch that...less than ONE year ago.

This is one of the few things I would change about Mario RPG - it's a pretty neat reveal to be in Factory and have the bosses thrown at you as normal enemies, but it would have made it even more impactful if Mack and Bowyer had started being normal overworld enemies around Land's End. It'd really get the gears turning that maybe you hadn't actually killed them, and now they were out there trying to be sure you didn't make it, but then you get to Factory and find out that they literally are just printing these guys, and here you are killing them before they even had a chance to put paint on them.

Probably Master Jinx, because of how he may seem small, but can pack a big punch against bigger enemies than him.
