Not really? The red shell har is probably the most forgettable Mii hat of all Mii hat, it's just a red shell after all. If Geno does get in as dlc, the Mii costume coming with him would probably be Mallow, Smithy, Chocobo, and probably 3 other random Nintendo cosstume or hats, like Goomba.

What if Byleth is posted tomorrow, alongside a Direct Announcement for Thursday, so then we can see DLC 6? Total long shot I know, but why bother posting about the DLC we've all known for awhile? Even if you don't follow NoA/NoE's Twitters, there's no way you didn't see the hundreds of gaming articles on the DLC, missed the in-game shop, or even seen someone else playing the character while playing online. You'd have to be living under a rock to be interested in Smash and not know the DLC exists.

I think we are waiting until March for a Direct, now that we have a PAX lineup. It's weird how things are happening, but I feel like we can wait a little.

Do we actually know release dates for any 1st party games after Animal Crossing? I know Xenoblade is announced for 2020, but like anything specific? Because I think after AC releases we'll have literally no new games set. Surely they have to have a direct to announce their 2020 lineup soon.

Not trying to sound pessimistic but am I the only one who is kinda worried that Nintendo is choosing the DLC ? I'm confident in Geno but there's still something that makes me doubt and it's the fact that Nintendo picked the characters. I hardly trust Nintendo when it comes to make choices so that's why I'm a little worried... not just for Geno but for other characters and especially fan favorites such as Waluigi, Dante, Rayman etc...
Ultimate is and will be the biggest SSB game ever. These are probably going to be the last 6 characters to join the roster. Is Nintendo really going to be wild and please the fans or are they just going to promote their games with Ultimate ?

Idk. Banjo proves that they are at least somewhat aware of fan demand. But yeah I'm just as nervous too. I really hope NoA let japan know of Geno's fans after they got the booklet from Operation Starfall. Hopefully that book got there in time to influence their decision.

This was also the same Nintendo that chose Banjo and Kazooie to be in Smash after all despite them not having a very big presence since 2000 and being owned by a rival company. If Nintendo wasn't at least somewhat concerned about pleasing longtime fans, they'd probably have chosen someone like Steve or Masterchief if they were gonna deal with Microsoft at all. I also think it's completely reasonable, seeing as how this is our first DLC decided after base game was revealed, that Nintendo saw the buzz that characters like Ridley and K Rool generated and decided they wanted more of that.
I also like to believe Sakurai has slightly more influence than what he's letting on, seeing as how it's not just Nintendo sending him a list of characters to add and is instead Nintendo and Sakurai meeting to discuss which characters work and whatnot. I could see it like Nintendo could come to these meetings with a character, they and Sakurai talk it out while Sakurai "strongly suggests" some other characters he think should be added, but it's still up to Nintendo whether or not to listen to him.
I could see a scenario where Nintendo and Sakurai meet about another potential Squarachter (or maybe even someone else, who knows) and Sakurai is a bit heavy handed about how fans want Geno. Nintendo agrees and in the next meet, it's about discussing Geno's inclusion. Either that or Nintendo just wanted another Ridley/K Rool/Banjo tier reveal to drum up sales/hype and decided Geno was best fit for that.

Disappointed but not going to press the issue. Like I said, the timing of his stuff lined up pretty closely with when I got stuff so if everything was fake on his end, kudos to him for getting close to stuff people actually heard. Worse case scenario is he outright lied about video game stuff and that's like... what /v/ does on an hourly basis... Not exactly a cardinal sin... There's no point in making a huge issue of it either way. Don't know his full story on everything but its not super important to cross exam anyways. Looking at his Twitter, he's just living his life so it barely even qualifies as a forgive and forget scenario.

To try to veer away from insanity for a little bit, one point I don't think that we've discussed is this: Geno's new spirit. You think it would be just his Smash render, his original sprite, or brand new art from the official Mario series artists?

I think they'd take the easy way out and have it just be his Smash render... and personally, I'd be okay with that. Geno getting in despite already being a base game spirit would be enough, he doesn't necessarily need another version of a PNG that's already in the game, and while some new artwork for a Fighter Spirit would be nice, I don't know if they'd go that extra mile.

One thing I will say about the leak crackdown is that, like I showed, the Metroid and Paper Mario stuff was out by November. Nintendo's issue was that it basically got plastered on every major Nintendo news site. It was literally idling on random places on the internet for 2 1/2 months before it became a BFD. This is why I don't mess around with leaks and just do rumors and, no, I'm not being cheeky. Pretending to predict things when you definitively know things is tacky and I wouldn't do that to you all. There's also the fact that I'm literally a specialized janitor in real life so I come across stuff from Discord and here, not sitting in board rooms or being in Sakurai's bedroom closet. Like, there's no way around it, if I absolutely knew Geno was coming to Smash, it would be pretty ****ty of me to leak that so I hope you all don't think I'm being disingenuous when I say things are my speculation.

On this note, the crackdown was technically already happening because, like I said, all the lingering major rumors were from the fall. Nothing new and significant has come up since the start of the new year. The only thing that has changed is that people are making more rumors public kind of like the other day when Markomaro hinted at Miitopia, something I first heard in October. People are stir crazy but that's probably going to be the case leading to E3. People will crack and make stuff public that's technically been known since last summer/fall that wasn't supposed to be public and the cycle will repeat.

Honestly King Boo wouldn't be a bad pick, even if there's other Mario characters is prefer. Imagine the timeline where we got Geno, Purple Pie man AND King Boo. I kinda want it just to see how the Smash base would react.
