Also if they faked this leak then see above reasoning why they’d need to take 7,000 steps ahead to convincingly fake it while simultaneously being stupid enough to implicate people. I don’t see it.

Anything is possible...but I'd say unlikely. Those guys don't seem smart and/or organized enough to pull something like this off. Internet trolling is far more their speed.

Kind of ironic, if there is an Assist on the roster I'd pick it being Mach Rider. It might be hard to have a character constantly on a motorcycle, especially when you do 4 player battles or 8 player battles and he's just another NES retro rep so...

I'm fairly confident in Mach Rider, mostly because of that mech gun Sakurai bought a while back. I mean, what other leaked character would have that?

As for Banjo... Well, PapaGenos seems pretty confident and sincere that he's in, but that's about it aside from the banner.

The Grinch leak is basically just a firewall for Geno anyways. Even before it:

-Tons of insiders claiming at least one new SE character.

-Sakurai's glowing comments about Geno in early 2016.

-Comfirmation that Sakurai tried to get Geno in SSB4 AND Brawl.

-At least one new unique Mario universe newcomer being one of the most reliable patterns in Smash games.

-The treatment of Geno's Mii costume.

These are the most concrete things with various coincidences like the Nintendo Twitter celebrating SMRPG's 22nd anniversary and the various characters who were once Mii costumes getting promoted to playable. We've gotten to a point where Murphy's Law would have to activate in the worst way for everything to be completely derailed.

I haven't seen anyone get hung up over Banjo, only the Spawn Wave guy doubting him but he really wants him; that just seems to be his opinions, though.

Even Steve from NintendoLife said he didn't know about Banjo in a reply to someone when talking about papagenos (I think), but that papagenos was wrong pls no.

Apparently there are people who are arguing that Mach Rider is an AT too. I'm getting deja Vu because I remember with SSB4 how the guy who leaked the roster interpreted Bowser Jr as "Bowser Jr in a go-kart", making virtually everyone blow him off.

Yeah, I just a want a Direct soon to see what we're working with. Again, I'm convinced it'll be the last hurrah for Smash Ultimate (base game barring anything crazy with Microsoft since they apparently have a conference next month? Still not convinced on Banjo, but hey...maybe...) and that'll be the last shot characters have to make it in the game. Geno and Isaac have excellent chances going in to this Direct regardless of the leak, and that makes me happy.

I know the Incineroar only thing sounds pessimistic... and it 100% is, but that's the worst case scenario I'm preparing myself mentally for. I don't think that's what will necessarily happen (I really doubt Sakurai would completely miss out on those newcomers potentially left) but I have to keep my expectations low so I can be surprised when they're destroyed and so Incineroar stings less if he's revealed (Or god forbid Steve...)

This bring me to the leak and a part of things I've never mentioned. That leak is such a wish list fulfillment when applied to me and the base game already.

Looking at Smash Ultimate, I got everyone back including my most wanted two veterans returning in Wolf and Snake. Then newcomer wise, I've wanted every one of our unique newcomers so far. Ridley and King K. Rool were my one and two respectively. Castlevania was the third party series I most wanted to see get a representative, and it got two! Inklings I fell in love with during the summer playing Splatoon 2 (Late to that party, but oh well). And even if I figured she would be an Echo, I've supported Isabelle for the game since forever as an AC fan. Dark Samus is also just ridiculously cool and one of the few Echo fighters I seriously wanted. Only Chrom and Daisy do nothing for me so far, and I understand why they're here. That's insane to me as is.

But BOY OH BOY, if the Grinch leak was true...

My remaining top five prior to E3 would be in the game (Ridley, King K. Rool, Geno, Isaac, and Banjo Kazooie for the top 5), Simon Belmont was 7 or 8 on that list depending on my mood. So I'd have SIX of my top ten in the base game. Chorus Kids have always been my honorable mention and I love to see new series in Smash, plus I preferred them to other potential Rhythm Heaven reps. Finally Mach Rider is my crazy retro pick alongside the likes of Ayumi and Excitebiker that I never thought I would see, but somehow is on this roster. Shadow and Ken aren't important to me, but they make sense sort of thing.

That would mean that all ten of the Smash Ultimate unique newcomers were fighters I wanted in the game and got in, six from my top ten including my entire top five, one of my preferred choices for the retro rep, and a handful of additional characters I'm interested in and support. Only the Echoes aren't a complete sweep, which is insane. And I still support the Echoes are far as they are fan favorites/love Richter and Dark Samus.

That's not just wish fulfillment for me, that's a Smash game tailor made for me (Especially when I get my weird as hell stage choices like Hannenbow, Mario Bros, Brinstar Depths, Gamer, etc. back of all things too!).

Hence I'm super reluctant to believe the leak...because... I mean, that's just too much for my heart at once/the "never ask me for anything again" meme basically is true for me at that point (OK, I'm greedy, Dixie Kong, Chibi Robo, and Ryu Hayabusa should be in too if we're really going to finish off my wishlist).

Here's my challenge to you. I played through Golden Sun start to finish in honour of Smash speculation 2018 a couple of weeks ago. Obviously loved it. It actually was a great game. Give Super Mario RPG a try. It's not a long game, but it's really quite a great little game. Definitely worth playing.

Oh I definitely plan to play it sometime or later haha. I loved Paper Mario TTYD and feel like I would also love super mario rpg as well from what I seen. I'll add it on my future things to do list for sure, although I may not be able to play much video games at the moment because I put them aside for other priorities.
