I think it's mainly that people want to see different weapons represented even if they'd functionally be the same. Like, if Edelgard or some other axe user managed to get in, she wouldn't really be different from the way Ike swings his sword. But it would be more recognizable for being different. It alleviates more of the same-y look for characters, especially for the FE crowd.

That looks like someone took an early brawl Geno model and just stretched it over the Mii fighter.
Yeah I totally understand the visual aspect of it, that’s more what I was trying to address with the first part. Main characters tend to have swords, which is why even though there exist characters in Fire Emblem and other series with lots of different unique weapons, the ones who get in use swords.

So a lot has gone down here in a short amount of time, and of course some of it was people freaking out because they cannot read or research so @papagenos had to post something to clarify, but I digress...
Some actual progress has been made, and based on whatFatmanonice has been saying...I am now SO VERY CLOSE TO GOING FULL TEAM LLOYD IT HURTS! I say this because Reggie's words at last years VGAs have so far rung true and it would lead me to believe that we would get Nightmare, but getting another fighting game character after Terry seems like a bit much and Tekken would be the choice to pull from but we all know that even with a the option for two side-B moves Tekken is way to complicated to implement in Smash. Smash players are already wracking their brains to do a simple double fireball motion, so there is no way Tekken could come into play. You may say we've gotten two JRPG characters, but there is a difference here because JRPG characters are actually requested where as fighting game characters really are not.
You know what, I'll just say it here: unless something big happens, I'm going full Lloyd Irving. If I'm wrong then oh well, you can't win them all and it will likely be a Bamco rep overall anyway. Glad to see a lot of you are also on the Lloyd train, just a little sad it took something this big to even make him an option for some of you when we've already had good evidence behind him for months now.
Educated guess. Last week, a bunch of insiders were acting weird all on the same day and making jokes that there was going to be an announcement of some kind on Tuesday. I thought it was ****posting but I made a mental note of it anyways. I had no idea what it was going to be but when insiders start acting "goofy" it usually means a surprise big announcement.

The problem with your argument is that I think that only applies to FIRE EMBLEM. Again, at least less than 15 characters are "anime swordfighters." Around 70 or so aren't, so at that point people are picking at nits. So no, I don't think the complaints are justified in the slightest for people saying "oh ANOTHER 'anime swordfighter' in Smash." If they changed "Smash" to "from Fire Emblem," then sure, I'd be more willing to see the opposing argument. But even then, asSee normally I'd agree with you but considering five of the seven Fire Emblem characters, which all consist of swordfighters, have the same three specialsand we have another pair of swordfighters that have similar movesets

has talked about before, Fire Emblem only has that many swordfighters due to a certain set of circumstances and the like.
Young link is more of a zoner than a swordfighter, honestly. With how fast his projectiles come out, it's easy to fall into that playstyle

Only ask because Steve was rumored and pushed around for months, even before release, whereas Banjo wasn’t talked about until April and had only a short amount of time to circulate amongst the insiders before his reveal. Not that anyone was taking this seriously in the first place, but that is Megaman's skid animation for when he tries to turn around from a dash. So it's 100% the Geno mod that goes over Megaman.
I really like that mod, way better than mii costume

MisterMikeMe buying all the Mii costumes was a joke, that said I'd probably buy all the Tales Mii costumes if Yuri/Lloyd/Luke got in.
