Hey Fatmanonice , dont wanna bother you but I have a couple questions I wanted to ask if you dont mind answering.

1. What do you mean by end times? As in for Ultimate or Smash as a whole, or something else entirely?

2. If youre able to talk about this, has there been anything seriously heard about possible assist promotions?

3. Are fourth paty characters actually a possiblity now?

I think a general rule of thumb here is to treat any text leak as fake unless it has some serious corroborating evidence to back it up. I could go on gamefaqs right now and post "Juno and Vela are totally in, guise" and it would be no more valid than any other text leak on that site

Ow, I still really want them even if they were just Mii costumes, literally I would jump out of my seat in excitement if they were even just costumes.

I'm still curious: does anyone know what became of that Blast Corps/Jet Force Gemini code that was found? I wonder what that was about?

I would say that a vast majority of them haven't been part of the "popular rumors." When I say "popular", I mean the ones that have gone on to get coverage from major gaming news outlets. For example, if a character has popped up in the Google article feed, they're probably not on it. That's kind of the beauty of it. Nobody is arguably overhyped or 100% expected. It's a nice mix of ambiguity while still checking off check marks on a good number of wish lists.

So are they more along the lines of Joker and Cloud in the sense of "this character would be so cool as a fighter! But they're just so unlikely they'd never happen" while in hindsight being like "okay yeah, that should've been pretty obvious, and I am definitely okay with this!"?

I think #5 will go over well. All the names I've heard may not be often requested but all signs right now point to the bonus characters being mostly on par with Banjo in terms of fanservice. Yeah, there could still be curve balls (including one potential one that might as well be a sign of the End Times) but currently it looks like Sakurai was very serious of bringing in more fan requests for wrapping up the roster. That said, I really wouldn't stress the coming days too much.

Yeah I'm gonna have to (X) Doubt that one chief. I hope you're right but this sounds too good to be true. I'd love to be wrong but until something bigger and more substantial comes out I'm not gonna get my hopes up.

Even if the stuff he's saying is true which I don't think it is he can't just come out and say the character he'd get insiders fired if he did. That's a bigger deal than waiting.

It would be nice to see Terry being released on November 1st (especially if it comes with a reveal for the fifth character), but I have my doubts. Don't they normally release characters towards the middle of the week in case there's a game-breaking bug? Take Joker, where it was only discovered after his launch that winning a Classic mode match with his final smash freezes the game.

Then again, this is a fairly unusual situation - from what I recall, none of the spirit events, tournaments, etc. between Terry's announcement and now had SNK listed in the copyright information, and the same thing applied for other DLC characters between their announcement and release.

well cutting out all assist trophies characters I can think of that fit that description would be Lloyd, phoenix wright, paper mario, dee depending on how you look at it, not much to be honest. But the majority of them seem to be tied up in a globe at the moment so I'm not really sure what to expect.

Personally I'm back down to earth again. We're getting geno and that's about it so I'm just going to be ok that we even got that far.

As someone who has been around the block more than once, when I think of how many characters go from wanted by everyone to the garbage can (and in Geno's case, to the funpost firing range), it makes me think Masked Man. Feels like after Lucas was shown off, a ton of people wanted his antagonist for both the moveset potential and the third/villain Mother rep, but then he absolutely vanished. The fact that he has a spirit blows my mind enough as is...

If we got Geno and Masked Man I'd actually start to question reality.

So Geno is obviously at the top of that list, seeing it being Geno tier. And now we're going to cut off AT's and costumes for safety reasons.

So Lloyd, Bandanna Waddle Dee, Rayman, etc. etc.

There's also a lot of Steve videos showing popularity as well, with more popularity apparent on Twitter. He wouldn't be a "troll" character at all, not even close; he'd be like other characters people want. Though I wouldn't mind if he was the troll character somehow, but unless Fatman and the insiders see him that way as well...it just feels weird to call him a troll character, though I guess he would troll all the haters and rude people...

I think a second Microsoft character could be in the next DLC season.

I don't think Vergeben would know Minecraft stuff for Season 2 as far back as May last year, though, if it were to happen. We can probably/hopefully throw the "leakbait" that has been discussed before out the window.

Thanks for the update Fatmanonice! It's pretty cool that a number characters with longstanding, diehard fanbases are in the running for the next wave(s). If I had to guess on an end times character, I think it'd be Mach Rider. If this really is Sakurai's last rodeo, then Geno and Mach Rider stick out as the last couple characters that he couldn't quite add in prior games. Or, maybe we go allllll the way back into Nintendo's history and there's a character based off of Hanafuda Cards.

Most of them have had fans at some level for some time like porky and Adeline and they all tapered off hard once the third party wave rolled in. I disagree on Crash and Rex and Pyra. I remember Fatman saying that Crash (and Tracer) were off the table for most likely at least half a year, I think I remember him saying something like that, don’t expect him anytime soon. And Rex/Pyra as recent characters (and Rex got a Mii Costume which Fatman just said is most likely still a death sentence, so that falls into the AT/deconfirmation category)

And LOL, Doomslayer? I haven’t seen him highly requested until this DLC season tbh. Does not seem like a character “requested for a decade” akin to Geno
