Isn't this the exact opposite reasoning for why you think Geno isn't Fighter #5? Haven't you said before that because none of the Fighter Pass characters have been spirit upgrades, that Geno wouldn't be upgraded either for #5? How can you see that as pattern but then in this case say that the developers can do whatever they want however they want?

Because the pattern was broken with Banjo. Banjo got Geomon, Proto Man, Zero, Rocket Grunt and Sans Mii Costume. Who to say that Terry Bogard or the fifth fighter might have random Mii Costumes?

But fine, whatever. I give up. You guys go on and believe that the leaker didn't withhold information (because for some reason that just seems to be the most craziest idea) and it's just the Mallow & Smithy Mii Costume. Just don't get disappointed if it turns out Geno is still a Mii Costume.

Like you mention, Banjo got whatever. He didn't get costumes from the Banjo series and he didn't get Microsoft costume.

We're trying to figure out a pattern but it's entirely possible that there isn't a pattern. For all we know they could release a bunch of Mii Costumes without it being tied to a fighter. Remember Smash Bros 4?

They could do whatever they want however they want.

But how likely is it? How likely is it that Sakurai would decide to put in a bunch of costumes from SquareEnix, and release them all at the same time on some random day? Four ****ing costumes, released on casual friday, completely contrary to how he's released costumes thus far? Just because something's possible doesn't mean it's likely. Just because the Mii costumes list can be faked, doesn't necessarily mean it was faked.

I certainly think your suspicion that the Mallow/Smithy inclusion on the costume list is reasonable. Beside the fact that it's just a text leak, it's been pointed out I'm the pass that false information can be included on leaks whether purposely or not. I just think your reasoning for being so adamant that Geno won't be #5 because the pattern that spirits haven't been upgraded conflicts with what your saying about Mii costumes. Just as Banjo broke some Mii costume pattern we thought existed, Geno can break the spirits disconfirm for the Fighters Pass pattern.

I'm also not saying that Geno is going to be #5 and break the pattern. More likely, if he's in then I think he'll probably be after the first pass. I also recognize the fact you've pointed out before that the pass was planned along with the base game, so it's certainly possible that spirits disconfirm characters for the first pass.

I mean not getting sans is not really a hole. They did not say when these costumes were happening just that they were happening. Also he still got stuff right despite this list being out before the hero presentation. Also not getting Geno over sans is a bigger deal since geno already was a costume. To me at least its a little weird to hear about two brand new outfits from the same series and not an old one form the last game. So if hes tolling it could hurt him quite a bit. But I understand why you dont believe this leak. It perfectly ok to have doubt in something and I respect that.

I will always be a pessimist when it comes to leaks, especially text leaks like this. If it's true then great, but if not then oh well. I'm not believing anything until I see footage and an official announcement.

Remember, if the Mii Costume list is legit it is entirely possible that he excluded the Geno costume from the list just to trick people that Geno is in the clear.

I see that as a very slim possibility. If it's real, what was the point of that leaker hiding the Geno costume from the list in the first place if it's coming? I believe him just saying that there was/is a Mallow and Smithy Mii costumes coming is enough to troll the Geno fans if it's fake.

Call me crazy, but I'm actually going to agree with you here Wynn, despite the fact that I do get very tired of your constant pessimism, these are all valid points. A lot of you are discussing the idea just that the leaker could have lied by omission right now, but honestly they could have gotten factual info from an inside source then added on all the SE costumes and sent it to Papa knowing that after getting things right and talking to Papa he would eventually spread this information and then there would be a small group of people to corroborate the leak by spreading it to a small group of others himself. People will go to insane lengths to fake things which is a fact that's been proven time and time again. There are many ways in which any amount of false info here goes badly for us whether it's withholding the Geno costume or totally making up these SE costumes in general to lead Papa and those that listen to him astray. I know Papa has no intention of misleading us, but that doesn't mean I have to trust everyone he trusts.

I honestly do think that many in this thread are giving far too much importance to tiny little details and leaks that are shaky at best even with a good track record to back them up. Geno has a shot but nothing is certain. At the same time though, I don't think you give people in here enough credit Wynn. You vastly oversimplify things to an enormous extent on a regular basis which causes you to misconstrue things. People in this thread are just trying to stay hopeful and optimistic and they are not buying into every leak they see without thinking about it a lot and talking to others about it first and even then I don't think anyone 100% buys this leak they just think it has a lot going for it that could and most likely would point to Geno being playable if it turned out true. Give us some credit we are your peers not your enemies. We are not just naive morons.

I'm glad the leak tied to the private video decided to bind itself to practically deconfirmed crash, having to worry about that costume again would suck although it wouldn't stop me.
