Again, I hate to sound like a broken record, but the box theory is bullcrap. It's a mockup, and the character amount keeps updating every time, so the box isn't a good thing to look at for the final roster count.

I absolutely agree with that, just thought I would share what I have seen on the front lines :D
Anyhoo, back to the Starsend Savior! I think The Rainbow Ride stage works best as Geno's 'stage'.

I'm thinking in the next Smash Direct we'll be getting the same amount of new characters as the last one - possibly two or three newcomers and two or three echo fighters. In August Simon and K. Rool were the newcomers, and Richter, Dark Samus and Chrom were the echoes. It's entirely possible we could get somewhere around that length give or take, but I won't be surprised if it was a little less. However, I do think it would make for an odd decision to reveal that much in August and not have much else to back that up with in the coming months; it's a decision that wouldn't make sense from a marketing perspective. I would want to space things out well enough to keep things interesting and people listening.

I really don't want to say anything more about the box except that it simply doesn't exist yet. When it does it'll have the appropriate revisions to fit whatever is left to be revealed, and like others have said it's similar to the Smash Ultimate mural that looked complete, but brought in more characters in the following months. Nintendo is pretty careful with their moves to be able to create something like that and not leave any open spaces for people to be able to guess if there were more characters that could fill those vacant spaces. I think we could have a little more faith in Sakurai than that.

Let me be honest here folks. I want Geno in the game as much as the next guy, but consider the scenario in which he isn't.

I would definitely see him as the character they use to tease DLC. 10/10. Would be a hell of a way to start.

I'm still gonna die on my "Geno to close out the next Smash Direct" hill but I would also be okay if he ended up DLC.

Anyone remember these? With Geno skyrocketing in popularity during Brawl, these popped up as a Subspace leak. They're really well made.

Hello!
I made an account here (and on Imgur) to bring an observation to the table that I have not seen discussed yet.
That image of Geno rolling his eyes hasnt been proven fake yet, right?
Welp Wiiugamer shared a new "leaked" image of the boy in blue that looks pretty legit.
problem is that when you compare them side by side, there are enough stylistic differences between the two to think that one of them (at least) is fake.

Its mostly with his 2 strands of hair, their size and placement differ too much.

Oh, that's a fake leak some of the guys in the Geno discord did to play around with WiiUGamer.

Seeing so many renders of Geno over the years, it's gonna be interesting when he actually shows up for real in Smash. Can't wait to be there when it happens.

That image on the left is beautiful; if and when Geno gets in, I'll probably get emotional.

For the record, I wouldn't trust any image leaks unless it's clear as day, because look at what the guy was capable of in the first post I quoted. Like I wouldn't even trust the ESRB leak if it happened today. It'll probably have to be gameplay or a hella-convincing model in action.

Howdy folks, I know you already get these introductions a lot but hey! Here's another.

Migrating over from the Smash sub on Reddit and good lord is this place's atmosphere already ten times more pleasant. People genuinely supporting each other on their newcomer picks rather than finding the next set of characters to shoot down. Sadly, poor Geno and Isaac are the new punching bags over there.

I agree, though I don’t see sakurai drifting to something too far away from what others have already made.

The renders have all done an amazing job showing us what geno could look like in true 3d, so much so that I’m not sure sakurai could make smash’s standout too much from them without drastically altering geno’s iconic look.

Of course, there’s definitely some geno fanart that I wouldn’t mind sakurai using as a reference, even though they really change up his look. One in particular I really liked but for the life of me can’t find anymore, was one where the artist replaced his simple cape with a full blue tunic that i “think” had multiple stars in it.

It’s been forever since i saw it, but it was a pretty well done piece.

I will always prefer a forum over reddit; everything gets buried within a day, you barely have a chance of having your post seen and forums are just so much more cozy and inviting. Like we have just enough people here.

D1 is a Geno supporter, and his viewers are so toxic toward him it's saddening; like even if they don't like the character, they can't even sympathize with the guy they're subbed to.

I can already tell. It seems to have a really chill crowd around here.

Oh no, not D1. I just don't get it. Its like they want to get some sort of satisfaction if by chance a fan won't get to play as their most wanted character. I felt awful for Ashley supporters when spite art was drawn after the assist trophy confirmation. Well nothing I can do but to ignore them and root for my favorite doll and half-genie.

I know this was mentioned, but it looks like we're getting 5 more stages in the game.

I feel like this kills the box theory - I didn't believe it, but I know some people did.

Any more returning stages, at this point, it's safe to assume would have been shown by now. If there's only 5 more than most likely we're not gonna' get a thirty second clip in the next direct of "hey remember these small handful of stages? We saved them just for this final Direct, even though we could have put them in the big highlight reel of new and returning stages."

Alternatively, if they're new stages but not linked to a new character? Why...save them? 5 is a small number. Too small for a highlight reel of new stages for franchises we already have. Plus, outside of FD and Battlefield, there really isn't anything else to be done for stages original to Smash...and again......why save those?

Meanwhile, if the stages are there to represent newcomers? (Think, Forest Maze, or Spiral Mountain, Elemental Lighthouse(s) or something like that) then it makes perfect sense to save them for their own showcases.

Very possible that one of the 5 is Minecraft given Vergeben's rumors. That was one of his earliest pieces of info and he hasn't backed away from it despite not knowing exactly what the representation entailed. Minecraft getting a stage makes sense to me. I could also see a DK stage based on tropical freeze, since DK has had two stages not return for ultimate and a tropical freeze stage could come with a Dixie reveal and make more sense than coming with K Rool since he isn't in that game.

The stages theory is finally dead?!?

Thank the Higher Authority. And good riddance, I say. Hopefully that shows people that every small detail Sakurai describes ambiguously isn't to be taken as fact (though I doubt it.)

With the new number revealed, which I am more positive is final with the timing of how many reveals there could possibly be left, I'm thinking the stages will be the following:

1. Minecraft. Could totally see this, Vergeben or no. People really seem to underestimate just how impactful Minecraft has been, especially to the newer gaming generation.

2. Bowser's Keep. Obviously for Geno. Could be Forest Maze, but somehow I doubt it.

3. Poke Floats. Used for 7th gen Pokemon reveal.

4. Venus Lighthouse. For Isaac.

5. This one is harder to place...possibly something related to Spirits mode, but could be any number of 3rd party characters' stages. Spiral Mountain, Scuttle Town...or maybe Elma is in and it's NLA instead? Who knows.

At the very least, this makes me hopeful not just because it means there could still be more new series added, but also because logic suggests we will get at LEAST enough newbies to use up 2-3 of those stages. So more than 1 brand new fighter is pretty much confirmed!

Here's hoping for 5, lol.
