Freaking same.

Either Crash or Layton at least.

Geno would be cool too if he isn’t a bonus fighter.
Considering there's an entire section for Individual DLC and spirits probably won't be a part of the pass, I'm guessing he'll be individual DLC
Thirded. Preferably late enough so that Spyro gains traction across the board until then, but still.

In regards to top 11, I'd rather not do a list, since wanted lists and predictions rarely end well for me.
I've always loved Crash more than Spyro. Probably because I've only played the first game and never finished it. CTR is getting a Spyro Grand Prix next month too so that's awesome.

MR support in particular would be nice, since that one's not nearly as big in regards to followings.
Mach Rider is honestly my favourite NES game.

More so since I find the Erdrick trilogy and Metroid outdated and pointless when the better remakes already exist.

Also, if Geno is revealed sometime between Sunday and February 2020, as the camera slowly begins revealing him from bottom to top, *inserts music tape*

Let's keep a sharp eye for any leaks today fellas. This stuff usually goes down the day prior.

And even then, I really doubt that Square Enix game’s get two songs. It’s just way more likely that Final Fantasy is a mess music wise and that Sakurai wanted to equally represent each DQ game music wise. 4 is probably too few while 12 was probably pushing it seeing as Persona only even got 11 and Sakurai specifically mentioned wanting at least a battle theme and an overworld theme for each.
While I usually disagree with you, I gotta say I think you’re exactly right on this. Especially as applied to Geno (if he gets in), I really doubt we’ll get just two SMRPG tracks.

If Geno is revealed, I'm gonna either make or support the Viewtiful Joe thread (I don't know if one exists or not) I also made a promise to support skull kid.

Yeah, Super Mario RPG music doesn't have any major known issues with its music like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest are a both a bit infamous for (Final Fantasy's a legal minefield from what we've heard and Sugiyama is a real asshole about his music and just in life, hence only getting MIDI versions in Smash). I don't see any reason to expect so few Super Mario RPG tracks when we know that Shimomura doesn't seem to have issues with Smash or Square Enix, Nintendo probably has some ownership of some tracks seeing as they were heavily Mario influenced using stuff from Koji Kondo. The only issue might be Uematsu's limited influence, but again, it's super limited stuff from what I know.

Like, only two Super Mario RPG tracks would be absolutely shocking to me in the event that Geno gets in. The only way I see him getting only two is if he doesn't come with a Stage and goes like Corrin bringing in a couple of tracks, but even then I might expect more than two.

As for where I'd go after this thread? Well, Geno's the last of my major requests, so I'd probably begin really gunning for Master Chief since, as I've mentioned before, Halo is one of my favorite series of all time (at least it was up until Halo 4). Chief in Smash is the crossover gaming moment I can think of for the franchise as a whole, and the music, locals, and even his moveset could be so much fun to work with. I'll probably give Isaac another shot when he's actually back on the table as an option. I'll give Chibi-Robo another bump, though he doesn't seem like he's ever going to gain any real traction. And Dixie Kong is pretty well the last first party "All-Star" that I have any reason to care about being in at this point. I used to care more about every Nintendo franchise being represented... but I realize Advance Wars, Sin and Punishment, ARMS (not even a franchise yet), and stuff like that aren't really going to excite me too much anymore beyond the baseline Smash level.

I was searching for a video for a very long time ago and I finally found it! I had to talk to a Japanese person to find it! @Slender you might find this video useful
So here it is the original arrangements of many SMRPG songs before they were converted to the SNES soundfont it even has the forest maze!!!
[AMAZING VIDEO!]

The SMRPG hunt is not over yet still i hope we get a clear version of Culex official artwork soon because it does exsist but blurry image and the other SMRPG early characters concept art that we have never seen before.
...

Guys...

BOTFM had an original version before the SNES...AND IT SOUNDED EVEN BETTER!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH~!

I think the midi files are the exact same but they're being outputted through a Roland device, which was among the best equipment for sound back then. A lot of old PC games used to use Roland devices as the master version of the audio.

The sustain in the Mushroom Kingdom theme in that video reminds me of the Space Quest intro song outputted through a Roland MT-32. It's a pretty distinct sound.

Really cool find, thanks a lot.

The fact that Nintendo hasn’t gone after other versions of these same songs though kind of invalidates this sort of thing even if it does happen though. With how finicky YouTube copyright claims can be, they’re just never going to be evidence towards much of anything other than YouTube being a kind of ****ty service. Even those two specifically and not others doesn’t tell us anything unless they start going after those two in a broad capacity across YouTube.

And even then, I really doubt that Square Enix game’s get two songs. No, it really doesn’t invalidate it at all. Why would Nintendo take down the videos of smaller YouTube channels? Brawlbrstms is a behemoth and has tons of subscribers.

And also, why is it Nintendo taking down the video? Why not Square Enix, don’t they own the music?

Also, you guys are seriously gonna say you doubt SMRPG getting two tracks when every Square Enix-represented game has gotten only two tracks so far? Beware the Forest’s Mushrooms and Armed Boss are perfect for coming alongside Geno.

Doesn't SE give the composers the rights to their music. Why would SMRPG be any different...and they already have the SMRPG composer on board...

I can agree with what this guy says, not to mention those two songs are the most iconic of super Mario rpg, dont get me wrong nimbus land is awesome, but these song would relate most to geno

Armed Boss makes way more sense than Booster Tower. I forgot that it’s the music that is playing when you actually first meet Geno (in the Bowyer battle). It is perfect alongside Forest Maze for Smash

Because you would approach copyright infringement with broad strokes if you were truly going after music for some determined reason. The 8 year old upload of Beware the Forest's Mushrooms from SilvaGunna on YouTube has remained perfectly fine despite having almost 400,000 views, not to mention BrawlBRSTMs5's own "extended version" of the track from a year ago hasn't been touched. If this was something worth caring about, they would have gone further than just stopping at the single most popular version of a major claim.

What's more likely is that Nintendo (or someone claiming to be Nintendo because there isn't necessarily any need for copyright claims to be all that validated on YouTube) has been targeting BrawlBRSTMs5 for some time with copyright claims and have been working their way through his most popular videos. This is a common tactic with regards to copyright claims and YouTube demonetization practices, the top YouTube videos of a "targeted content creator" will be flagged or hit with issues and then they'll be forced into an awkward position. Content creators have been hit with stuff for as small as 9 second clips on material even though that falls under actual fair use copyright law. BrawlBRSTMs5's uploads do not fall under fair use in the least bit because they are straight uploads of licensed music, so his uploads are incredibly vulnerable to any challenge, real or not. They hold no power because they are, at least in legal definition, committing copyright infringement. The right stiff breeze can get their videos taken down. And here's the thing, because they're operating in such a legal bind, Nintendo can legitimately just claim the video with Mario in the title more than likely and it will get taken down because YouTube sides with corporations with incredible consistency and doesn't necessarily verify many of the claims. YouTube copyright claiming has been an incredibly broken system for years, and BrawlBRSTMs5 is literally in the worst situation you could find yourself in as an uploader. Nintendo was already targeting this person for his music, it's completely reasonable to say Nintendo overreached and knew they could because of YouTube's policies, precendent, and BrawlBRSTMs5's incredibly poor legal standing with his uploads.

As for two tracks, Hero had to bear the weight of representing 4 protagonists equally with a guideline that Sakurai wanted of one battle tune and one overworld tune at least. I sincerely doubt if we had just gotten Luminary we would have just gotten 2, I think it's more of a way of equal representation without going too far in music inclusions (the most we've ever gotten for ANY DLC has been 12 with Bayonetta, giving each alt just one more would be matching that) due to the clearly limited budgets of DLC. I'm saying if we get a Geno, Super Mario RPG doesn't have the same big expensive names attached to it, so we should expect more music.

Dang, what a great find! Who likes this rendition better? It sounds more crisp to me.

I never said it was. I just said it's the closest thing we have to a leak that T2by4 T2by4 was asking to keep our eyes open for
Well at least that's something. Probably nothing, but fun to entertain the thought. 4chan is having threads saying reimu is In. The leak however looks fake, and I cant see how the starling could relate to reimu at all.

Now that I think about it, it's been a while since we've seen a Smash-focused Direct, so I wouldn't put it past the possibility of one happening this month or the next one. E3 only showed us Hero at the beginning and gave us Banjo at the end, and this recent showcase with Sakurai and Hero wasn't technically a Direct. Whatever content could be showcased in it though is up in the air (besides going over Banjo-Kazooie + a character reveal).

And what is the significance to that?
STARling. Geno's true form is that of a small star. -ling acts as a diminutive, so it's like saying little star, which is what he is. Now, if the species of the bird doesn't matter then it could be for Edelgard (Black Eagles house) or at a push Phoenix Wright. However I (and many others here) hope it's some sort of Geno hint.

Hey guys, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I might have some damning evidence for Geno not to be included as an extra fighter, nor any extra fighters appearing at all

For the longest time, the Smash site was glitched out and you could only view the DLC fighters on the mobile version. Why they took so long to fix it is beyond me.

Well, now it's fixed, and uhh...

(image not working for some reason, link: https://i.imgtc.ws/QD3BB5w.png )

Oof, they post the entire DLC lineup as two rows of three making it a perfect rectangle. Adding another character would have to mean forcing another under the middle one, which would look weird and i'm not sure they would do that.

I checked the regular fighters to make sure it's the same way, and yep, it is. Perfect rectangle.

This means either Geno is a fighter's pass character or we're not getting Geno and we're not getting an extra character anyways...

Complete speculation. There is no proof it is Geno and no proof that pic 100% means something

It's just one of many rumors that's been flying around.

Okay first of all we've been able to view the DLC fighters since E3. Your cache may have needed to be cleared. Second of all, the development of the game is not dictated by smashbros.com's table symmetry. Why would they intentionally neuter themselves just so a web page looks aesthetically pleasing?

Here's a picture of the music page.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EBEEHlqUcAEtLDQ?format=jpg&name=small
As you can see, once we have the rest of the DLC added, assuming they're all from new series, there'll be two categories (fighter series 5) and miscellaneous below everything else. The character select screen is going to look even more ridiculous.

That's supposed to be some kind of damning evidence?

It's been like that for the Desktop version for a long time. And who's to say that they can't just add another row? Seems pretty silly to me.

The fact that the Stages tab still says new is evidence Geno is either separate from the Pass or a bust.

In any case, if nothing happens tomorrow or on Monday, it'll be the longest that a hint from Sabi's source has taken to bear fruition, won't it? It's an unusual situation.
