Keep a level head. Deep breath...In...and out.... No matter what is shown, DO NOT STAY QUIET! The worst thing that can happen is taking the hit and dropping off the face of the planet. Take the hit and GET BACK UP!

IF/WHEN that costume is shown, GET LOUD.

IF/WHEN that costume is NOT shown, GET LOUDER!

Since we may be getting Hero as soon as today, I have a few questions for you all.
- In terms of a ratio (ex. 50/50 Hero/Possible Geno hint or reveal), how much more excited are you for Hero's release compared to the potential that Geno could come? For me, it's 40/60 Hero/Geno.
- If I were to play Super Mario RPG, what would be the best way to play it? I'm lowkey hoping that it gets rereleased if/when Nintendo ever add SNES games to the Nintendo Online service. HONESTLY WHY HAVEN'T THEY DONE IT YET SERIOUSLY I JUST WANT TO PLAY SUPER METROID FROM THE COMFORT OF MY BED
- If Geno were to join Smash, what would his alt colors be?

Alt colors, in my opinion would be:
Geno
Mallow
Smithy
Booster
Mario
Peach
Bowser
Croco

> No Geno costume in Hero's video > Geno reveal at EVO

I find it hard to believe there will be no news at EVO, this would be incredible

1) If I felt Geno was happening, I would say 10/90. I like the Hero and Eight especially is pretty cool, but he's nothing for me personally, especially in comparison to Geno. I wish we could have both.
2) I hope it gets a release on the Switch, too! SMRPG on the go? HELL YEAH.
3) At least more than half of them have GOTTA be based on his in-game equip capes from SMRPG. Mallow- and Smithy-themed alts would be the icing on the cake.

What would you want his victory theme to be? I think the original game's would be cool but Siivagunner made a Geno victory theme a while back and it was pretty good.

My best guesses are either the standard Super Mario Bros. victory theme, the victory theme from the actual game, or the Final Fantasy 7 victory theme, most likely that second one.

I have Nintendo's YouTube page up in case he just shadow drops.

Also I misremembered...We actually got a Joker hint an HOUR before he shadow dropped. Is this correct Fatmanonice Fatmanonice ?

MomijiInubashiri630 MomijiInubashiri630 So not after EVO...Dang man. The twist and turns just keep coming!
It's not from her main Nintendo source. This is someone else who people refer to as VR Plant because they leaked Fire Pirhana Plant in Mario Tennis Aces and VR mode in Smash. Apparently a video's up but it's heavily encrypted so he can't see what's in it.

Outta curiosity, since you were hoping for a post-EVO kind of thing, how do you feel about Geno's chances of being costumed again or otherwise made playable now that Hero's likely dropping sooner than that?

Yeah I realized when I posted that. Also there is already a video up? So it seems like we could see this very soon then...

Potentially punches a hole in my Smash Direct theory but not necessarily a trailer. Robin/Lucina were a stand alone trailer literally the day after EVO 2014 so I suppose they could simply do the same thing again. I guess we just have to see what Hero's presentation brings.

Add in: Neither Jon or Sabi's Nintendo source teased anything before Joker's release so I feel like there's more to the story here than what we currently see.

In a good way or bad way regarding Geno/Smash?

I really don't know. "Soon" is super vague especially in light that EVO's only a week away now. Sabi's guessing Tuesday or Wednesday but, again, that's just a guess. I just think the timing is weird. There's nothing stopping them from doing a Hero showcase and something for EVO but it feels like a waste of resources to me. Like I said, my main hangup is that I don't think that Sabi's source is hinting at Hero's release specifically unless there's something significant tied to the release that we don't know about. He flat out told us when Joker was happening. No hints, no pictures. Same with things like the Mario Maker 2 Direct. He only drops hints for things that are especially noteworthy.

When the Grinch failed, we lost. All of us. We lost hope. We lost motivation. Soon, we may have a chance to take it all back. We know each other, we know the game. Count down the pass. One by one. Two to go. Starlings, NoA rumours, fan requests, Sakurai himself. Most of us have been disappointed before, but that doesn’t mean we should know what to expect. Hype responsibly. Look out for each other. Some of us have done this for years. Don't lose hope, gang.
Let's not characterize Grinch as "failing," that implies there was ever a chance for success and it was somehow a legitimate thing operating towards some goal when it was in reality just another fake leak. I also wouldn't say we lost hope with the November Direct. Generally speaking, we rode the high as one of the last surviving "requested fighters not an Assist Trophy" until his Spirit was found in those copies of the game that released early in Mexico. Until that point, there was a general consensus that he had a good shot at being the first DLC, and that only really waned with Joker/the explosion of Brave and Dragon Quest in Smash rumors/leaks.

Since we may be getting Hero as soon as today, I have a few questions for you all.

1. Well, considering I expect nothing with regards to Geno because I don't think there's anything compelling to lean me in that direction, it's basically 99/1 for me. I'm extremely excited for another character as always in Smash and Hero genuinely looks like one of the more interesting additions in a while (Plus Dragon Quest in general has a really enjoyable aesthetic and great music to work with). Like, if there's an actual Geno related news that goes towards him being actually playable, then this will change to a 50/50 since, as I've emphasized many times now, I just love Smash. But I can't get excited about the potential for something to happen when I just don't see anything convincing towards Geno actually showing up at this point in time (again, I want him, but I'm speaking from a speculation standpoint). And while the lack of the costume would raise an eyebrow, I'm also not going to take the victory lap at just the absence of something.

2. SNES Classic is probably your best bet if you don't own a Wii U and are against emulating. It's a great little device that gives you access to basically everything SNES related you could want except Chrono Trigger and Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3. $80 is a little steep, but if you want to officially play those games, there's honestly not a better alternative out there right now.

Seeing as the "soon" time frame that just surfaced thanks to VR Plant guy, considering the historic fact that back in the Dragon Quest III days, the game's release had to be scheduled for the weekends, Hero might be dropping during this weekend (emphasis on MIGHT).

Also, as I said a few pages back, I STAN by believing that this time, for SSBU, Geno's coming. I'm willing to take that bolt of salt if otherwise. :2gud:

Besides, hurting Papyrus is one of the few ways to get Sans super-mad at you. And I still never got the Sans with Papyrus icon request from Pakky...

Quote. As far as indie game characters go, he is officially the oldest-known example that wasn't an overlooked console character at first.

Join the club, that's been brought up ages ago. Personally, I think we'll go bigger if they use the full WOL datamine.

The fact that it happens on my birthday is icing on the cake.
Uhhh okay Im getting little tired of people calling Quote the oldest indie when SHANTAE is from 2002 and Cave Stroy is 2004, you even bring up in your post.

I think it's a matter of perspective. Shantae is older, but she wasn't exactly an indie by then(Game was published by Capcom) . Quote was one of the first big indie successes.

But Shantae was funded by Capcom originally when it released on the Game Boy Color, so it wasn’t really an Indie project at that point. Shantae doesn’t become an indie until 2010 with Risky’s Revenge when Wayforward went forward with the project themselves. Shantae is the older character, but Quote is the older indie so to speak. Not that any of it matters, but Shantae’s beginnings are decidedly not indie despite how big of one she is now.

Also, Toki Tori was also born in the GBC era like Shantae was, so by that logic we'd have to call him an indie too (also published by Capcom, incidentally).

Also also, if we need to truly bring up who the actual first indie is...

There's this fresh gal here from 1994, who managed to beat Shantae to the punch, while she was still in the creative womb.

no Shantae wasnt funded by Capom, it was PUBLISJED , very big difference, they did not help finance the development of the game.

You know, thinking about the whole "Geno in a Dissidia" idea, I wouldn't be against Nintendo and Square trying out a more direct Mario and Final Fantasy crossover game if they were ever to work together on a project again. I recall people in the past suggesting such a concept in the past, specifically with it being the world Culex is from. Could be cool to get some fantasy style designs for Mario characters. I think a good example of this idea is the art piece I put in the spoiler(I know it's Mario X Fire Emblem, but you guys get what I mean).
This seriously needs to be a Rosalina skin in Smash. I don't even like playing her, but holy crap, if she could look like this I would.

Uh is she just not answering her phone or is it that no one has seen her? Have you tried calling people who know her? Could it be that something happened to her phone and she's on her way?

You still finance the distribution of the game and attach your name to it as Publisher. Regardless of how poorly that was handled, it’s a major part of the process that requires funding and it was only released due to Capcom’s hand in the matter, which makes the original Shantae decidedly not Indie.

You know, this situation is kind of annoying but maybe it's for the best. Everyone is expecting a Hero drop, not a whole lot of people are expecting something at EVO. I guess both could happen (even though I think it's kind of dumb). Robin's reveal was pretty much a surprise and so was the Smash Direct EVO announcement last year so I guess it would be in tune with what's happened before. Either way, we still have to wait on the Hero drop to get a conclusive grasp of what Geno's remaining chances are and I'm still confident on something at EVO but I don't know what.

I don’t really get why people get fussy over indies.

They’re all videogame characters, I doubt Sakurai or Nintendo are gonna choose one to represent them all instead of treating them like other videogames. Yes, they come from a small dev team/company, so yes, Nintendo has a special Direct to give them attention, but I doubt there’s gonna be some strict “one indie character per Smash game” rule, or that Shovel Knight would somehow steal Shantae’s spot or vice-versa.

I also find it funny when Undertale isn’t taken seriously by someone when Nintendo has acknowledged it like other indies, as well as giving it and Deltarune their own spots in a main direct instead of a Nindies direct; but oh well, we all have our own ideas in speculation.
