What the heck are spirits 1317-1321? I have both of the Link's Awakening ones and everyone before those 5. I want to say those are the four Hero fighter spirits but then that leaves one extra.. besides, it wouldn't fit with extra spirits for the series...

I played through SMRPG the first time on the Wii’s Virtual Console back when I was in high school cause I got bored one day and decided to look through the Wii Shop’s game library and I was getting into RPGS at the time and I was like, “Oh cool, Mario has one” and I spent most, if not all of my winter break during freshman year, playing through and beating it and it was how I got introduced to Geno and I just liked his overall personality and abilities and I also now own a physical copy of the game for SNES.

I was first introduced to Geno through Kirbopher's Waltz of the forest video as I was into Mario at the time I just watched it cause "It has Mario! I like Mario." and at the time I had no idea about Super Mario RPG yet I found the original characters that showed up interesting. Geno and Mallow especially and Geno seemed so cool.

It was then quiet for awhile I didn't really stumble upon anything related to it until Smash 4 when Geno's Mii Costume appeared I had the realization that this character was from that one song I used to watch all the time. I even thought he was an original character initially but then I slowly started to learn more and more about the character until I decided to play Super Mario RPG when I picked it up on the Wii U virtual console.

When Geno appeared I fell in love and to this day I've been a Geno fan since. Even before I played Super Mario RPG I learned how big of a request he was for Smash and how many people loved him so I started supporting him, His design and personality seemed cool enough so why not. then when Smash Ultimate was announced he was always in my top 3 most wanted characters alongside K. Rool to the point where when the Grinch Leak happened I got carried away by the hype and went as Geno to a Halloween Party in celebration yet I still don't regret it cause I love the handcrafted Geno beanie I made even if it is a big clumsy.

And that's that. I'm a Geno fan now.

When I was younger, I used to watch many videos related to mario like the SMRPG Forest Maze Lyrics Animation, and Smash/Bowser's kingdom from reuploads on YouTube from newgrounds, as well as many other mario videos. At that time, I only watched Mario videos only because I liked Mario, and nothing more lol. From there, I saw Geno and I thought he had an awesome design, but I was confused by the fact that I had never seen him in any other mario games, so I wrote him off as a fan character. I kind of forgot about Geno for awhile after, only remembering him from those videos and nothing else.

Fast forward to Smash Ultimate, I was looking through my YouTube recommended, and I came across Papagenos. I figured out pretty fast that the Geno that Papagenos was talking about was the one from the animations from years ago. I learned that Geno has more than a decade of support from his fanbase for coming to Smash, and I thought his history with Nintendo and Square Enix was very interesting as well.

Although I have never played SMRPG, I have played almost all of the Mario & Luigi games, excluding Partners In Time and Superstar Saga. I feel like Geno represents Mario RPGs as a whole, and even though I have never played the game that he was in, I have played a truckload of Mario RPGs and I thought they were awesome. So I think Geno is a very cool character.

Alright, I can't sleep. Reading all your reasons for your appreciation for Geno gives me some nolstalgia. My explanation that I found his design extremely unique isn't the full story. I actually first encountered Geno in the YouTube video Super Mario Zombie Edition. I was really into Left 4 Dead 2 so zombies were kind of my thing for a while. I found him very cool but he sort of...well, vanished. I had no clue who he was until he returned as a Mii costume in Wii U and 3DS. After that, as well a a refresher thanks to the Ultimate cycle, Geno's been at the helm of my most requested characters for Smash. Shovel Knight and Bandana Dee were at one point but I figured an indie character would have a tough time getting in anyway and after learning about some obvious bias against modern Kirby titles, BD felt impossible if Sakurai had to pick.

To be fair, came before the literal end of April, so I don't seriously think it'd be that far. The countdown can change at any time.

Now Joker is magically at the top of most of the tier lists. What they need to understand is that the most broken character in the game isn't Joker...it's MKLeo.

On a serious note, looks like Lupin is likely fake, but it isn't over yet. Heck, even if Geno is a Mii costume again, I'm not giving up rallying for him until the fat cow sings... or, well, until Sakurai says DLC is all wrapped up for Ultimate. (Granted, I'll think he's got no chance for the Fighter's Pass, but we don't know if they'll make more DLC in the future. For that, I'd say anything goes.) Even then, after that, I'll be rooting for him for the next game, for another Mario game/crossover, for anything. Our tenacity is something unique, I'll say that much, and as long as we keep our support strong and our voices loud, Nintendo will keep hearing us. One day, they may even deliver what we've been asking for.

I would think hero would be a lot more complicated than Joker. Because he has that whole menu selection system that needs to be figured out and strategized.

That wouldn't make sense with the July showcase featuring Hero, though. Sure, they changed it to Summer quickly after, but for multiple reasons already stated, it really seems to be meant for July in particular. It looks pretty damning that Hero is coming this month and not in August.

Chill. Literally none of the leaks from the past couple days were what Geno had going for him right now honestly. Regardless of these leaks, we have on good authority that a direct/presentation is coming within the next week or so, and a starling hint which looks good for our little star man.

Lupin and these other leaks were neat to entertain, but we certainly don't need to bank on them for Geno to be in.

Well they change the title from July to Summer quickly just like you said, and EVO starts on August 2nd and ends on the 4th. Having The Hero drop on the 6th of August seems more like what they intended to do. I'm pretty sure the Nintendo goof was significant because, as other people pointed out, Nintendo's publishing Astral Chain and that probably would have been included in the video if it was really meant to be a summer catch-all and not just July. Plus, Nintendo Ambassador with perfect track record >>>>>>>>>>> random 4chan posts. We just have to be patient because his hints usually lead to something about a week and a half to two weeks later.

I get what you're saying, but it's probably a matter of surprising people. As you said with Joker, they revealed he'd be released in April, but they didn't specify a date, and that was during a Nintendo Direct. I'd say that Nintendo made the release date "Summer 2019" to keep it more vague so there'd be a greater time period of which the Hero could appear, thus making surprises a little bit more... well, surprising. And yeah, the video was also about other titles that may not be releasing in July too, but I find it kind of hard to mix up July with Summer. It's not like it's just a bad typo or the like.

I've been lurking this board (specifically this thread) for a long time so this morning I decided to finally sign up and contribute. I love Smash, I love Geno and I love the community. I don't think I'll post much but I wanted to take a sec to voice my support for our boy!

I posted some pics on Imgur, but I wanted to share that I just added Geno (as well as Vivi, Duck Hunt and Treecko) to my Nintendo-themed tattoo sleeve project. Still need to fix a bunch of things (and update old things) but I do love being able to show off all of my favorites - and I've got Geno right up top and in front. Luigi's Mansion just got a release date, we got that Nintendo video for games coming in Summer (July) , New Joycon colors and we got the updated switch model announced. I think Nintendo tends to release small amounts of news leading up to a bigger announcement.
