Alright fellas, been taking some notes for possible hints towards geno making a return. So far...

During that class, I had a semester long project where I had to bird watch for several months so I became familiar with the local birds. European starlings are really common in America and Europe. I told Sabi this story yesterday but, as their name suggests, they're originally from Europe but some wacko in the late 1800's was sad that not all of the birds mentioned in Shakespeare's plays were native to the United States so, he did what any sane person would do... He spent several years collecting them and then one day went to Central Park in New York City and released them all in the wild. Naturally, they're one of the most notorious invasive species in the world and the dude probably would have gone to prison for life if he had done it like 50 years later.

A Smash Direct or mini update like Joker's next month is very possible. E3 2018 was pretty much Smash 2018 instead, and not even 2 full months later there was the August Smash direct. So its not like having alot of info back to back is impossible. They could release Hero, go into details about him, update minor Banjo info, just announce character 4 and plan to release them in winter (or...if not character 4, a bonus character).

We have taken inspiration from the varying success of Operation Moonfall, a petition to bring Majora's Mask to the 3DS, and Operation Rainfall, the campaign to release many Japan-exclusive titles worldwide. Our main goal is to bring Super Mario RPG back into the public eye in some form, whether it be through the mainline Mario universe, a remake, or perhaps something more. On top of that, we want to rally all of SMRPG's fans into a condensed, easy to find place in order to express the sheer magnitude of the support. There hasn't really been a hub that could properly show the fans, so we want to change that. I wanted to extend the hand to you all as you would be the exact type to enjoy it!

This new European starling hint's really raised my hopes for Geno quite a bit. Still trying to keep conservative though. The other day, I thought of something in regards to the DLC character's "color codes" (background color that appears in each dlc character's tab on the SSBU website), and the colors of the seven stars in SMRPG. However, the thought didn't went onto associating the color codes with the star's colors, but also their locations, and the bosses that guarded them and thus I came to the following:

Piranha Plant - Green Star: The green star is the second star found in SMRPG, and is guarded by Bowyer in the Forest Maze. The Forest Maze is a place filled with trees, plants, and other abundant flora. It is also the place where Geno officially introduces himself to Mario and Mallow while fighting Bowyer. Piranha Plant was revealed as a free (for a limited time) dlc character, prior to the Fighter's Pass (FP). In a way, Piranha Plant although not forming part of the FP, did officially introduce the concept of DLC fighters in SSBU (the fact that there would be dlc fighters added to the game).

Joker - Red Star: The red star is the sixth star found in SMRPG, and is first guarded by the Czar Dragon/Zombone, but is later stolen by the Axem Rangers. Now, the Axem Rangers is a team of what seem to be Smithy's strongest enforces. Now, the particularity that the swooped in and stole the red star, and the fact that they act as a team, is reminiscent to Joker in Persona 5. Joker is the leader of a group called the Phantom Thieves; albeit good thieves, and although the Axem Rangers do not have any such thing similar to summoning a Persona, Red (leader of the Axem Rangers), once his other teammates are defeated jumps onto the Blade's main turret; which could be seen as a reaching (yes) comparison; different battle phases.

Hero - Purple Star: The purple star is the fourth star found in SMRPG, but unlike the rest, this one is found unguarded. It sits quietly at the end of Star Hill, which is roughly the mid-point of Mario and co.'s journey. Star Hill is the place where the wishes of all the inhabitants of the Mushroom Kingdom arrive, and appear in the form of Wish Stars. This is also Geno's home. This point however I will say that learning of the European Starling today, the link between the Hero and the Purple Star now led me to think that Hero could represent the guardian of Geno. Both character's are owned by Square Enix, and the speculation that's been mentioned here of the possibility of Hero's direct shadow dropping Geno. This other aspect may seem even more reaching in regards to Hero and their association to the Purple Star but, Star Hill, the place where the star is located has five star gates. If we count the Hero skins (4) and Geno, we got "five" Square Enix characters.

Banjo and Kazooie - Yellow Star: The yellow star is the last star found in SMRPG, and is guarded by Smithy himself. When this last star is collected, the Star Road is repaired, and wishes can now once again come true across all the Mushroom Kingdom. This "coming-true" of wishes falls in line with Banjo and Kazooie's inclusion in SSBU. For years the bird and the bird have been requested for Smash, and in this iteration it finally happened; the wish came true. Now, in regards to Smithy; this final boss, specifically in his second phase, has some similarities to Gruntilda. One of the head transformations is of a Wizard (Gruntilda), another of a Tank (Hag 1), another a Treasure Chest (Lockup), an Armor or Safe (can't think of a Banjo and Kazooie monster for this one), and of course Smithy's second face's normal shape. The first Smithy phase could be thought of as the Grunty from Banjo Kazooie, and the second phase as Grunty from Banjo Tooie.

Now, there are still three stars, but two more dlc fighters left to reveal in the FP. However, since this is a speculation/theory on Geno's possible inclusion, then it's a 3-3 match. Now, the remaining stars are the Blue, Indigo, and Orange stars. The possible associations to the remaining stars are the following:

Orange Star: The orange star is the third star found in SMRPG, and is guarded by Punchinello in the Coal Mines. Punchinello's attacks mainly consist of summoning Bob-Ombs of increasing sizes as his HP drops. With the theme of explosives, the character that came to mind was Crash Bandicoot due to the TNT and Nitro boxes being pretty much a staple from the series (or at least recurring obstacle). Now, another character that comes to mind, and this due to the mine-cart section when escaping the mines is Doom Slayer (and this one is a stretch). Now, the reason why I mention Doom Slayer is 1) because of the explosives themed boss fight, but also 2) because of the Mode 7 visuals of the mine-cart segment.

Indigo Star: The indigo star is the fifth star found in SMRPG, and is first guarded by Johnny Jones, but later is taken by a disguised Yaridovich. There are two characters that came to mind due to what goes down in retrieving the fifth star. First Mario and co. fight Johnny Jones; a shark pirate captain who is actually a good guy, but then is taken by Yaridovich (one of Smithy's generals) who was disguised as Seaside Town's elder. From good, to bad. First character; taking into consideration also the star's color, Ryu Hayabusa has some points that can be associated with this star and its guardians. The story with Ninja Gaiden 1 is that Ryu goes on a journey to seek out the one that took his father's life. However, near the end he finds out that the true mastermind was his own father, who was possessed by the evil entity Jaquio. This concept of an evil character being disguised under a good one is Ryu's association to the indigo star.
Second character; also considering the star's color is Siegfried/Nightmare. Siegfried fell victim to the Soul Edge's power, and from then up to Soul Calibur 3, went by the alias of Nightmare; a demonic knight in azure armor. The transition between good and evil, and back, as well as Nightmare's color are the key points associating him with this star. Either Ryu or Nightmare could be the pick.

Blue Star: the blue star is the first star found in SMRPG, and is guarded by Mack; the first of Smithy's generals, fought inside Peach's Castle. The star's color is one of the points that associate to Geno, due to the color of his cape, but also the fact that it's with this star that the journey of repairing the Star Road truly begins. In addition, it could be considered that Geno (the star) chose that specific doll as its host and physical form because it had found Mario in Rose Town. How did Geno find Mario? It can be thought that Geno followed the trail of the first star (blue), and is how they made their way to Rose Town. The beginning of a journey; the point where it all began; Geno's calling card.

Let me be clear. This is all me speculating.

Phoenix Wright is definitely a real possibility as most of Sabi’s other images haven’t been much more direct and I sincerely doubt the intentionality of the whole “starling” thing that people are putting fourth right now based upon the fact that Sabi’s other hints have been much more straightforward and the species of the bear and bird didn’t matter.

There’s zero ****ing reason to expect another character reveal this soon. We don’t know if Hero will come with another mode or not, so there’s not even necessarily much reason for a Smash Direct either (even if Home Run Contest comes back, can you really do anything more than a minute long, “it’s back”?). I feel like another New Content Approaching shadow drop makes much more sense unless there’s bigger content non-character related we don’t know about.

I just don’t see a reason for them to announce another fighter right now or even before they’re ready to seriously talk about Banjo. And I’m also not expecting any DLC characters outside of the Fighter’s Pass until the Pass is concluded, so I don’t see a Geno bonus character announcement any time soon either (I think that sort of thing would be saved for a Final Smash Direct in December I’d imagine).

I don’t think geno has ever been referred to as a “starling” has he? Star spirit, star warrior, but never starling. And why would he? Considering it’s fairly obvious starling refers to a type of bird.

But the music tracks being taken down, specially just those two which would fit quite well for a trailer and/or smash tracks...

Idk... I’ll keep my expectations in check though, and even if they’re not hinting at him, his chances are still good right now so I’m not gonna worry.

There is no reason to expect a character reveal so soon, but there isnt really a pattern when it comes to smash dlc. 4's was just all over the place with how many characters were released and announced, and ult went 6 months without saying anything about the second one. Now they have 7 months to release 4 and announce 2 until February. They could just want to get the announcements out of the way.

We have the ability to remove or alter any post that we find necessary. It has been posted on the site as well so it doesn't seem like we are hiding anything when changing specific posts.

I can assure you there will not be any issues with griefing. Those posts will be quickly addressed and removed.

That's why we've suggested that "star" ling is kind of a stretch though technically applicable if you were to make it totally pants-down-thrust-in-your-face literal, ling being a suffix noting a smaller version of something (ie; duckling, gosling) or in relation to (ie; changeling, Earthling).

If the rumors spread and nothing comes of them, I really don't want to see Sabi and Fatman being used as scapegoats, this fandom's been mistreated enough.

That being said, I still think we won't see a Hero announcement until it's close enough to DQ11S' release date, and if I am wrong (which is likely), may there be a shadow drop within the month.

That's the right stance to take. We still don't know if the datamined WOL slots from a while ago will be used or not either, everything rides on whether both Nintendo and Sakurai think the game needs a few more characters over the course of the Switch's life.

All his previous random pics have been hints to something and, especially now that Sabi can't even publically talk about Nintendo stuff anymore, why would we sabotage a year's worth of trust? It's kind of character suicide and honestly would be pretty dumb since we literally know his real name and have gone out of our ways to protect his identity this whole time.
