Yes. i remember that Sonic show. I followed the STH comics that were based off of that cartoon that still get published today. Knothole was the village they lived in, in the forest.

That comic was amazing for its time. Now, it's sorta meh.

The funny part about all this, is Nintendo doesn't seem to want to take the risk for this IMO. Which is funny, because when I look at the history of Mario, Nintendo usually doesn't go safe when it comes to this series. SM64 was huge, and then all of a sudden, we had SMS, where you got FLUDD with you. (when I say risk, I mean...look at the GameCube as a whole. VERY different Zelda game, different Mario game...it was just crazy). I don't know, seems like Nintendo's playing it safe these days but it does them good in the long run.

I can see why you felt that way Tery, the "I don't actually!" could be taken either way.

We can all agree that nearly every Mario game with a desert make people want to kill people? I don't know, I never had a fun time with any desert stage in any Mario game. >.<

Each time I make it to a desert stage, I try to finish it as quickly as possible. It's not as if there's some new level of difficulty to it that sets it apart from the other land themes, it just bores me to high heaven.

Now, ice stages? I'll stay there forever.

Pretty much the only one I liked was the one in MK64, and that was because it was the only racing stage in the whole kart series where braking was actually required. I guess it's just the thought of dehydration that makes us not want to go to deserts.

Now your talking. =D

Ice levels are either beautiful to look at, or just have a crazy gimmick that are fun, (example SBM3 6-10). Over all, I just like Ice or snow levels on almost any game. <3

I played Kart Fighter (that pirated NES fighting game with Mario characters) and finished it. It was lame to just get a high score table.

I love playing on World 6-3 of the original Super Mario Bros., all because it has a white pallet to imitate snow xD

I'm playing Super Mario Bros. 3 atm though. Big Land is so appealing after all of these years.

I think that's why I prefer the old school sidescrollers to the NSMB series - the current ones don't offer much else that the old ones didn't already have. SMB3 actually provided MORE with the assortment of items and quirks in every stage; if I were to count off the amount of items in SMB3:

1) Mushroom
2) Fire Flower
3) Super Leaf
4) Whistle
5) Starman
6) Hammer
7) Music Box
8) Jugem's Cloud
9) Tanooki Suit
10) Frog Suit
11) Hammer Suit
12) Power Wing
13) Anchor
14) Kuribo Shoe is so awesome I'm including it here

And then add the N-Cards, Toad Houses, Spade Houses, Hammer Bro fights, White Toad Houses, and the coveted Coin Ship, then you've got yourself a game.

NSMBWii? Mushroom/Fire Flower duo, Mini Mushroom, Propeller Mushroom, Penguin Suit, and Starman. Add mediocre music, a few noteworthy levels (think the poisonous river level in World 5 and the Roller Coaster level in World 8), Toad Houses again, and stationary boss areas, and you've got a good game, but it just doesn't live up to it's predecessors. Maybe I'm just wearing nostalgia goggles, but SMB3 managed all of this ON THE NES, I had hoped NSMBWii would have been something spectacular given the stuff the Wii can do.

I'm trying to think of a desert level that I really enjoyed, but I can't =\ In SMG/SMG2, desert galaxies were never anything special to me (although the shifting sand slide one in SMG2 is all right I guess...)

I thought Sandslide was friggin awesome. One of the more memorable levels in the game for me even though it's very easy.

edit: Also concurring completely that NSMB Wii does not live up to SMB3 at all. Though, I don't think that's a bad thing. The fun in NSMB comes from the hectic multiplayer, IMO.

This!

If I ever tell someone to get NSMB I bring up the fact that they should use multiplayer. I can't say I'm a fan of the game when I only play it myself, but when it's with a lot of people it's great fun.

Its only fun if your playing with cool people, not *****. My brother kills me every chance he gets.

Also, the only notworthy Desert stage I can think of is Mushroomy Kingdom, but thats SSBB, so it doesnt really count, does it?

Probably shouldn't double post, and yes. The NSMBWii is fairly easy, because it was aimed for the younger generation. SMG2 was aimed for the older one, I think.

lol Getocoolaid and Killmaster have the same avatar. XD

NSMB was pretty easy aswell, you practically have to go out of your way to make the boss battles hard.

I beat the original NSMB for the DS in a few days. I didn't get all worlds, but I beat it.

You guys are crazy. The best way to play NSMBWii is by ****ing everyone over and getting ****ed over in hilarious ways.

I mean, unless you want to beat the game or something crazy like that, then it's not that great I guess

Agreed, it's nowhere near as exciting as a playthrough where you have to make sure you don't get trampled by your friends. Heck probably the main reason it seems easy in 1-P mode is because it's already hard enough when your friends are unintentional enemies. lol

The jungle levels in NSMBW was a lot of fun to me. The bone dragon roller coaster was mad fun too. I have three little brothers that I played with when I ran through the game. It was pretty fun, but it could get frustrating at times. I preferred it when it was just me and the younger brother closest to my age; it was a lot of fun coordinating strategies with him to get what we wanted in that game. Haha. The team work aspect of that game was great.

I bet this doesn't count, but whenever I play Mario Party 4 with my buddies, we never really play to win, we play to just mess each other up. We aim for Chance Time. :(

I do that ocassionally too. XD Most of the time it's more fun to do that than play the regular way, the first one was also great for that.
