you might be right ty, but it's hard to make a tier list without a mario tennis metagame lol.

i've played tennis for years. i was on varsity in high school (but i hated going to the net lol). lots of smashers play tennis for some reason. i think there are a lot of parallels between the two.

Any players of real tennis here? I've been playing since liike, 6th grade. Really love the sport. :)

Playing at net is fun.
Because my mom is currently plays in a 4.0 team (if you don't know this, you may not know certain tennis club systems), I played tennis with a passion. But sadly, that was when I was a kid, when my vision was still good, not to say my vision is bad now, but it was certainly better at a younger age. Playing Super Smash Bros with the lights off really put a dent into my vision in baseball and tennis, and without the knowledge of corrective eye care, my steller performance in both sports deteriorated. :(

Currently, I play casually with friends and my two brothers, we have two courts around our subdivision's pool area.

This whole Mario Tennis tier list was drawn between experimenting all characters, tested on different courts, with players of varying skill, trying to find a certain edge. There are certain courts that make other characters better (speeds benefit from clay, powers benefit from grass). Based on my experience, more power characters perform at the highest level, while technique characters tend to have a slight disadvantage.

I also have a possible theory that some characters have a minor trait. For example, Waluigi and Toad are techniques, but when serving, Waluigi hits the ball harder than Toad. Or why DK Jr is slightly faster than Bowser, or how Wario hits it with more of a curve than DK. I could be imaging things, but there might be a hint of diversity in characters with the same major trait. Oh well...

Blue Shells are. Evil. Mario Kart needs to permaban those.
Or at least make it similar the thunderbolt. There should be no BS(lol) until, maybe about 1:30 into the race. That way, the most skilled (and luckiest in a way) person can get a lead that BS won't kill. Getting rid of it entirely could make first place uncatchable.

I know this is off topic of what we're talking about, but has anyone found any Mario News lately? I can't really seem to find any good updates.

Nope, nothing big since E3. The series does have some "idle time" every once and awhile.

Well, this place is supposed to include the DK, Yoshi and Wario series so I guess you could put news about Donkey Kong Country Returns (now that I think about it, that thread should be moved from the LH).

I actually spoke with someone about Donkey Kong games. Apparently they didn't want them moved because it's technically a stand-out from Mario.

So, I don't know, you can talk to an admin or the mod of LH about moving the threads, whichever. We should really then make the description of this forum : "From Luigi to Donkey Kong, talk about Mario and related series here!"

Wario and Donkey Kong are both part of the Mario world, there is no reason not to include them since they have major roles in both the Mario ganes AND their own [which occupy the same region]. Yoshi too.

And I always thought it was a given that Wario and Donkey Kong are part of the Mario series . . . .

I did too, so that's why I wasn't understanding why Donkey Kong games aren't in here.

I could talk to an Admin about it, and I think I will.

You know, I've played a lot of Mario titles, even spin-offs. Of course, of all the Mario spin-off titles out there, Double Dash!! had to be one of the most amusing titles to play; two characters in one kart sure was a neat twist.

I preferred MK64 to Double Dash. Something about MK64's simplicity appealed to me. It's like SMB3 - the controls are simple enough, but the way it is presented makes the game stand out.

Or it could be because I just adored the frame diagram that indicated placings relative to the length of the track, Kalamari Desert glitching, and Yoshi Valley which still remains as a unique track in concept today. As well as that Rainbow Road being a tremendous blast with the lights, the pictures, and the music. <3

Rainbow Road in Double Dash is more fun than Mario Kart 64 you have to admit. I almost never go there on the Mario Kart 64 for many reasons.

MK64 Rainbow Road was sooooo long. It took forever to finish that course. The only thing I liked about MK64 RR was seeing the characters faces as you drove. I kinda missed that in DD RR.

This is a really weird question, but how many 2nd party companies does Nintendo have left for Mario games?

(does Hudson count or did they move on? I know they used to be one).

That's a good question. They've worked with Hudson, Square Enix, SEGA, HAL...
Who am I missing?

How'd I forget HAL?

But yeah you can't do Square and Enix, nor can I do Hudson I think because they've all moved on to 3rd parties.

I was just thinking about this today because I feel as if they don't have 2nd parties anymore.

According to Yink, UberMario and the Mario boards is the equivalent of myself and the PokeCenter. Or vice versa.

Pleased to meet you, inverse twin. :)

True, true, and my inverse twin who lives in the north (while I live in the south) also regularly visits "my" board while the opposite is also true.
