Opens Brawl General Discussion expecting something interesting.

Sees that it's just Grim posting his opinion yet again.

Regrets having clicked on the thread like so many times before.

Closes Firefox.

Drill can be an approach. Provided you edge cancel it.

Earl can :D

:phone:
Yeh, M2K does this consistantly on BF for spacing and stage control. I use it occassionally too.

However I believe Grim said it was used to attack.

If you were just making a statement however, then your point is completely valid :)

Here we are on a website for a game we play competitively with characters like Pikachu and Mario, we spend ludicrous amounts of time and money on this game to the point of travelling interstate just to play it even when we know we won't win any money...

And you are trying to pull the "no life" card on me specifically?

Need I say more?

Yeh just Yugioh Grim, Vyse keeps trying to get me into Pokemon. Yugioh isn't that expensive, it cost me about $300 all up for 4 decks I have built and 2 of them are unbeaten, even by new card structures. Plus that $300 has bought me a mountain of side cards to sort through one day.

Took me about 18 months to get the cards I wanted though. I have a deck built like IC's in brawl, infinite lock lolololol

It is expensive when you don't have an income xD

Which deck do you run? I quit just after Rescue Cat got banned (completely wrecked my Ojama deck + I didn't like how fast the game was getting + it was getting too expensive), so I'm a bit behind...

Rescue cat isn't banned anymore as far as I'm aware now that there are considerable amounts of cards that lock off the field and graveyard card activations. Substitoad is still banned though which is similar, but better.

My current deck is a dark element deck. Based around destiny hero plasma lock and spell and trap reactor locks. If I get 3 free turns without any card punishment, the game is over. Sweep decks usually hit me pretty hard early.

I run Ancient Forest Fields and basically sit and watch you self destruct, it's good fun. I wish more people played it tbh, although about 4 in our scene up here play so it's still good.

Tbh, at the last tournament I played, I was the only control deck player. Most decks from the semi noob to pro sections run fast synchro to assault mode decks. Most popular deck atm is stardust assault mode, given that the card is about $120 on it's own. However my deck trashed everyone of them as soon as it came out, (which is the only time you can beat it unless you can destroy it in the graveyard)

Lvl dragons are still popular, and so are the six samurai, and technical techs like mechs, frogs, and nordic ascendants. Spirit & polymerisation decks have dropped off the face of the earth almost entirely though.

I run 4 decks, all of which are control decks apart from 1 which is a position deck (morphtronic).

As far as tier 1 goes, its fast synchro's that take the cake, there are an abundance of different types. I have yet to be defeated by a tier one deck though. You can control the speed of the game these days with the right cards.

With substitoad, you can special summon another frog monster, upon its death to the graveyard, basically meaning, you can summon infinite substitoads in def position from the graveyard as their effects still play upon summoning. Add to that Frog the Jam and Flip Flop Frog, and **** gets real very quickly. Hence the ban on substitoad.

Sideboards?

If you're refering to what I think you are, they use 3 main deck fields and 4 main play fields. Deck fields include your deck (obvious), your synchro, spirit, ritual, fusion, and basically any other non-reglular sumoning card deck, and your side deck. Side deck cannot play during your macth, but it usually consists of 15 cards that can be swapped in after a duel. Matches in Yugioh are best of 3 so you can change cards to counter setups or the opposing deck between duels.

As for the play fields, there is your in play area, which consists of monster slots, spell & trap slots, and the graveyard. Then there is out of play, which is basically only used when an effect sends a card completely out of play (hence the name). Yugioh is really simple once you understand chains, and card speeds. It's very rare that a dispute arises in rules that aren't covered by the universal ruleset. Usually occurs when 2 different card rules conflict one another, but card speeds usually alleviate this problem. However I have had one instance where everyone of 4 of us disputed a rule differently, and it was the most ******** situation of cards I have ever seen, and you would never expect to see it occur during a match, it was just that 6 cards all activated off one action.

Edit: Come to the next LD tourney birds and I'll show you how it plays if you like.

Oh I know what Substitoad does, I was asking how does a Frog deck even work if Substitoad is banned?

I wouldn't say gadgets ever reigned supreme, anti-meta decks can never be the best deck by definition.

I did/used to play cards.

I used to on average make $300 a night playing blackjack at the casino when I was a gambling nut.

I also used to play an online version of Yugioh which had you in this basic 2D world where you walk around and challenge people at stadiums and had all cards available (up until the Hero decks [the one the 2nd anime protagonist used]).

the guy also went and programmed in all the show only cards including the god cards, shiz was so fun when I was like 16.
I've wanted to program a game like it with all cards ever since, but obviously my interest in the game waned.
