The AiB ladder is such ****e. I can't believe the more matches you play, the less points you get, at least to such an incredible degree. I was 12-4 at 1666 a couple days ago until I got antsy to get to 1800 and played some Europeans and West Coasters. This cost me a buncha points, so I threw in the towel for the day and decided to play everybody and sandbag a bit for fun, hoping to pick it back up in a week or so.

I picked it up yesterday, and I got back up near my original score. But I started beating a bunch of 1900+ people, and was only getting like +15 per match. This is such bullcraaaaappp. I'm considering just going under an alt so I can start over, because that is total BS. I spend one day sandbagging and I screwed myself. >_<

Poor Verm... :/
xD

Oh well. If I can't get to the score I'd let as quickly as I'd like, I at least have a few tournaments to look forward to in the next two weeks. I can't wait to go offline again, especially in light of the fact that WiFi has wreaked havoc on me today. I get to a point where I just stop trying to play well in laggy matches and go aggro. <_>

Yeah wifi is such a pain. At least Ganon can take some advantage of lag, Ness gets totally ****ed by lag. It's hard for me to get a decent ladder score because lag messes me up and because I'm not an amazing Ness like Vicegrip, Smash64, or Shaky.

I'm glad I live in an active smash area. Offline is billion times better.

I'll be perfectly honest, I want to meet to the Ganondorf who can take advantage of lag in any way, shape of form. D:

The amount of precision Ganon requires, and how reactive he has to be, especially against campy opponents, is ludicrous.

You know, for fun, let's make an unofficial quicklist of ******** things Ganon does in lag:

-Usmash instead of FH uair.
-Dsmash instead of iDA
-Spotdodge OoS instead of dair.

And arguably the worst of all:

-When you wizkick or do anything involving the b button, depending on your angle, you typically slowly rotate the control stick slightly after the move is performed. But when it lag spikes or lags, you perform the move and rotate the control stick and end up killing yourself since the move coming out late means it reads where the stick is after the rotation rather than at the beginning.

That was ecxceedingly confusing, so here's the abridged version: you try to dair > wizkick and end up using Gerudo instead. Or when you try to use dark dive, you manuever the control stick as you would to reach the ledge, but it lags behind and you end up using Gerudo and SD.

Edit: Case in point with the ladder:

I was at 1640; Kain was above two-freaking-thousand. +22 for a 400 point difference? Eh, oh well. Sorry for the ranting. It's just rather irritating. >_>;

Lol Ganon gets ***** by lag way more than Ness.

He can't even Powershield then meaning he has no approach against most of the cast.

I often FLUDD by accident in lag when trying to recover.
Well at least lag ain't too bad for Mario... We don't often press any other buttons when caping recoveries so :p

Ness can't control pkt well in lag, meaning his best projectile is tough and risky to use. So Ness has to approach, and yeah same powershield problem as Ganon.

Too bad Ness needs to control that pkt and direct it into himself to recover, all Ganon needs is to press upb. Accidentally inputting side and neutral b offstage instead if upb = death, though downb won't usally mean a bad situation. So Ness gets almost as f***ed as Ganon if he uses the wrong b move.

I powershield online.

And Ganon can't punish on reaction in the first place because he can't punish period except when he acts from the first frame. But to do that you have to know beforehand exactly what you just blocked.

Wifi just makes you better able to take your frame advantage on block and turn it into some kind of guessing game from your opponent. Ganon isn't slower than Human reaction on wifi anymore.

*~*~*~

So guys, I learned two things yesterday:

Ganon can't punish Jiggly Fsmash on perfect shield with Dsmash.
Ganon's BAir says "PAW!!!" before the hitbox comes out. I got interrupted after he said that.

I also learned some **** about Falcon, but nothing for Ganon v Falcon.

There was some kind of MK trick I stopped by footstooling MK, but I don't remember what it was. Except awesome.

I doubt anyone really cares, but since I picked up MK, I've been getting 5th-7th at tournaments instead of getting 13th-17th like I usually did with Ganondorf. These are the results of the tournament I went to yesterday:

1. M2K
2. Blue Rogue
3. Shugo
4. Arty (top ranked player in IL)
5. DLA

As you can see I'm doing really ****ing well, and I still have a lot to learn with MK. I'm not posting this to brag; what I'm saying is that most Ganon mains are REALLY good players, and if any of you ever get frustrated with your tournament placings, you should pick up MK; you will blown away at how much your results will improve.

If you're satisfied with your results with Ganon, then by all means continue to use him; you have my respect good sir.

I do still use Ganon for $MMs, friendlies, and some matchups in tournament (I seem to do better with Ganon against a lot of low-mid tier characters, and a few high tiers).

It's nice to have MK as a secondary... he covers all of Ganon's bad matchups :p

Lol. How can you call him unidentified when it's already obvious that he's Ganon? It's much more intimidating when you know who's going to shred your soul into thousands of soulless pieces.

Congratulations on your tournament successes, DLA. Personally my choice for a high-tier secondary is Olimar: I love the amount of discipline that you need to use Olimar just like you would with Ganon, except that Olimar's ground game is out of this world. MK is a little unwieldly for me.

UFG denotes already that it is INDEED Ganondorf, but the lack of identification can be attributed to the opponent's ghastly response to his majestic ascension.

Today was my last Ganon tournament. From now on, I'm using Peach, but still playing Ganon in freeplays and MM$.
Good knowing you guys.

NOOOOOOOOO, NOT ANOTHER ONEEEEE... !

You, Breezy, DLA and I'm not sure, but maybe Kalm? I understand he's been enticed by the EVIL SERPENT OF ORIGINAL SIN. Not sure though. If this is true and he plans on ditching Ganon I'll slap him personally, along with the other defective Ganons. The King of Evil will subjugate you traitors 'neath his thunderous gait and rip your souls asunder with his tempestuous exclamations of triumph.

:(

Such a shame to trade such fierce, hard-won kingship for... floral print Princesses. ;-;

DLA was the last person I expected to pick up MK. But he is right about picking a top tier and playing them for like a day. You're amazed at what you can do with them, I picked up Diddy for one day and beat almost everyone who used to beat me which I just gawed at.

It's good winning once in a while. =(
If I didn't soooooo bad with Ganon I wouldn't even think about leaving him behind! I love playing Ganon more than any character can be! I'm leaving him because I can't play in tourneys with him.
So sorry.

At least I'm not taking MK for the super-easy-way to victory, money and girls.

I understand. But Ganon CAN be won with. It just takes a lot of practice, dedication and a thorough knowledge of every character. I know Ganondorf mains of all people don't need to hear this, but it doesn't hurt to be reminded in times of need. :p

Ganon's worth it. :3

But Ganon board, you have my solemn promise that I will tirelessly represent the 'Dorf. >:3 Also, Ganondorf attracts way more chicks than MK. <3 Even if he didn't, Smash chicks are typically fat, mentally deficient, smell of vegetable soup or a grotesque mix-and-match of all three.

I said **** Falco and went back to Ganondorf. I haven't been to a tourney or a smashfest in a while though. Maybe a couple months? Oh, and DLA, I won't be able to make it MLG. I would have to get thursday and friday off of work to get out there, which isn't going to happen. I have this friday off, and I had the last two off.

Sorry buddy ;_;

Anyways I posted this in the Q/A not sure if anyone saw it so I'll post it in here, we're discussing Link + Ganon in doubles: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=274758&page=3 hope to see some contribution from you guys. :)

This sucks. I made an alt on AiB so I could refresh my ladder record from that *********** fest last week, and I was doing so well. I was like 9-1 with 1550. But then The740 told me that I wouldn't be able to make playoffs as an alt, so I had to go back to my Vermanubis account where I get peanut points. Oh well, at least I'm above 1700 now =_=

In other news, I beat Dabuz's PT and took his Olimar to last stock both games. D:

Unacceptable... You prefer a prissy skirt-wearing princess over a gerudo king who holds the triforce of POWER?

Don't leave ganondorf... seriously, chances are you will never dominate at the level m2k, ally and adhd do so why play a different character in order to help you jump up a couple of tournament spots? Don't conform to that tier bull$h!t. You CAN win with ganon. You just need to believe in his power and be persistent. Play a character that you like and have fun with and the tournament results will eventually show.

... unless you prefer peach to ganon of course  each to their own i guess.

do I dare mention your character cycle in this thread after that post sea? MUUAHAHAHA

I can understand players wanting to try out and use different characters, but I'd NEVER give up using Ganondorf. He's my favourite and most used character and always will be. Simple as that.

I do not care about that tier ****!
But the character speaks for itself... I've never won with Ganon more than 5 times in the past 2 months, playing twice a week and going to three tourneys. I think that either I'm not doing it right or the character is, unfortunately, thrash. I LOVE ganon. I would LOVE to stay with him, but it's not fun anymore. =|

It's part of his coming to terms, first it's a girly avatar, then it's picking up peach, then it's talking about Peach social's favorite topic of all time, but you know, you need to come to terms with it.

Me personally, I like swords, swords cut and slice, so awesome! But you know what's even better, SWORDCHUCKS! I invented them you know, what could be cooler then two swords attatched to each other?
