Hey, man. Don't get me wrong, I think you guys do a good job. I'm not complaining about how you guys do things. I'm just making suggestions. If the suggestions do not work fore reasons beyond your control that's fine. Need two open TVs for random casual customers? Understood. Weekends? No because most of the income come from then. Understood.
As for time, I stated the same reason why tournaments run late. Equal-skill, blah, blah. That's why I'm again suggesting some ideas to add options. Singles are the main event to me as well as most. I'm saying perhaps it's a nice option for people who shouldn't/can't stay late.
I for one have class at 8 AM. Last time Ryan and I didn't leave the tournament until close to 1 AM. So we didn't get back until a little after 3 AM. Then I had to get back to my apartment so I really didn't get to bed until around 4 AM and I had to get up at 7 AM for class.
I'm not saying to switch it up so people just want to do singles don't have to wait until after doubles because it's already obvious if you're only there for singles they can come back later. If you say you want to start doubles first because you think starting it afterwards would discourage people from participating in it than that's fine. That's the typical plan of events are, anyways. Save the best for last.
I'm just letting you guys know that the schedule affects my decision on coming or not to come of these tournaments. It may or may not for others. Whatever works for you guys works best. I'm throwing out some ideas. If it doesn't fit with you guys then I'll just have to make the arrangements to go to a few of theses.
I'm recommended you reach out to some of your participates for help with stations. Like I said already, I can bring a small TV and my Wii when I come. Perhaps other can too to help speed things along. It's not going to be at nice as you guys' equipment, but it can help.
On a lighter side, IMO I figured you guys had to go through some trials and errors with the smash community in SC being few and spread out. I understand it can be discouraging. Low turnouts. Decent turn outs with scrubs who loses and gives up and never come back.
I've known probably only 5 or 6 good smashers in SC for Melee when I played that competitively and two of which got tremendously better by knowing and playing me. Vice versa as they start to get better so do I. The other few are really good players on their own, but we only met once in a while. Most other random people I met talk trash, come to play, lose badly, give up, don't return calls, and don't respond on IMs. They straight up avoid and don't just tell me they aren't as competitive as they thought they were and aren't interested anymore. In FOUR YEARS of looking for competitive SSBM players in SC.
So, I give you guys props for starting this up. You guys have to deal with kids, scrubs, and lows. I can can understand that. I don't think you guys do anything wrong. However, maybe just explore some ideas who help run the tournament more efficient. For SC, if Brawl gets more popular the tournaments people would look forward to are the ones you guys run because you shown dedication and commitment.
