I am interested in picking up pikachu as a secondary because of these chaingrabs.

Seems very useful against Falco, Snake, DDD...and then auto win against characters like Wolf, Fox...etc.

Still haven't really decided yet though. I usually put a lot of work into the characters I pick up, and I don't know if I want to do that again :/.

I think you took it seriously that we were attacking you or something, lol. The boards are supposed to be for discussion, not saying "You guys I don't wanna talk about it anymore because you don't understand meee~" etc, etc. Clarify yourself if you feel like people aren't getting what you're saying.

But it's whatever. All I wanted to say was that I went to the tourney; lots of people are picking up Pikachu; everyone's whoring him out for his CGs. We knew this would happen, but I saw eyewitness proof, and it was... interesting. Lol.

I love the EC, but I feel like in general we tend to be more tier whorish/gay when it comes to tournaments. Because a lot more people are in it strictly for the money/win and nothing else.

Ex: MD/VA and NJ definitely have the highest concentration of MK I've ever seen in my life. There were so many at BTYF.... now that was sad.

Then again, maybe things just start here first because we're the most active community. Aside from Cali, but from what I hear, Cali is a lot of Melee.... I wouldn't know.

Pikachu seems to handle the top tier characters pretty well. He even has the tools to beat MK with a bit if dedication, which is more then most of the cast can say. So if youre looking for someone like that, you're looking at the right character . However in my opinion Pikachu does take a ton of work and style, haha, so it really would only be worth it if you enjoy playing him, and spent a good amount of time trying to pick up his tricks and adapting them to your style. This is a good time to pic up pika though, even outside the CG's it seems like a lot of new tactics and strategies have helped to step up pikas game lately.

We kinda help each other out (NY and NJ)

NY has never really been a tier ***** state
Which is why most people are surprised when we show up in big numbers out of state

NJ helps us deal with the whoring

And we help them deal with the unexpected

MD/VA used to talk so much trash about NY...

Wonder if they'll crew battle NJ/NY now...

M2k could even sit out and i think they would still beat MD/VA

Apparently, TKD use Pikachu vs SK92 at a Cali tournament Sat and beat him with the chaingrab. Took SK92 by suprise.

Too bad you couldn't come. The car ride was amazing. I'll let D1 and Rookie fill you in on the details. MD/VA...yea we got wrecked lol. You guys took the top 4 spots. BTYF was definitely an eye opener. As for the crew battle between MD/VA and NY/NJ, it was going to happen since the tourney finished early, but individuals decided to leave early

LOL, I didnt hear that. I told Nyjin that TKD was interested in learning Pika and he swore TKD was not going to pick him up and that this would change nothing. Rofl. I saw that they listed NL as using Pika in BTYF I think, but I dont know how well he did when he used him.

LOL. Right, because one of the best falcos didn't just lose to someone who just picked up pika? Falco's not hard to grab. He doesn't have much range. If I can grab falco with climbers, it should be easy with pika.

Hey guys, I'm going all the way back to the Z grab thing, I can chain-grab and I know the CGs by heart, but my friend who barely ever plays this game gets out of the grabs by simply jumping, I use the classic controller, should I be using GC controller to chain grab? a quick reply would be great

you should learn to buffer a grab is what you should do (as well as the %'s that it works at)
controller shouldn't have anything to do with it.

Make sure you're buffering the grabs, i.e., hitting the Z button within the previous throw's last 10 frames so that Pika will grab again on the next available frame. If you wait until the first throw is over, your friend will have enough time to jump out.

If Pika's grabbing but your friend is getting out, you're probably doing it too late.

(Mind you, I don't know much about the classic controller, but I'm assuming it works the same way since you said you use Z to grab.)

Pika's dthrow takes a certain number of frames to complete. Within the last 10 frames of his dthrow, you press and release the grab button to buffer his next grab. There's no simpler way to explain it if you know what a frame is.

EDIT: I'll just quote the Q&A from the front page:

Q: When can I buffer a dthrow?
A: The buffering window is rather big. You can buffer as early as when pika is falling halfway through the dthrow. When he bounces up in a ball and falls, about halfway through.

You really just need to practice it until you get the rhythm down. Watch ESAM's video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5v8Myoltijo) so you know what it's supposed to look like, then practice, practice, practice.

For Lucas I got 5-33% + regrab
and he can escape anytime if they buffer two jumps.

and for Ike I got 0-62% + regrab
and can escape from 0-41% with the two jump buffer.

and I don't think sdi works.

If you press jump every frame, the game will think you are holding down the jump button. So you have to jump one frame and do nothing the next and then you can input the second jump on the next frame.

Also, a good idea from Tommy G (Falco). If marth's only option out of CGs (F-throw and D-throw) if up-b, why not bait the up-b into a footstool to QAL? That would be awesome ^_^

It's a 50/50 chance on each stock...why not just thunder instead?

Thats because IC are made for grabbing, they have all sorts of stuff for it. Pika does not. I beat if SK92 knew about it he woulcnt have gotten caught. Like (someone) said, it took him by surprise
