It's kinda difficult for me to determine the melee count at this rate. I'm hoping for 50 and up for it; mainly it's difficult to tell who is still playing Melee or switched over to Brawl.

Maybe I should highlight the melee only player with a special color or something?

I can definitely point out a few, but not for names I've never heard of.

Honestly, all it's doing is hyping up a huge in-state crew battle. Nortex/Sotex won't make Texas more competitive as a state, in my opinion. We can do that as a whole by just having more tourneys and traveling more.

Let's think about this:

-All major Texas tournaments reside in H-town, usually once a month. Twice a month occasionally if I'm not mistaken.

-Dallas holds monthly PBT tourneys if I'm not mistaken, but they're never the hype HOBO is so it's usually just a city tournament.

-Austin only really has Hylian so it's hard for him to try to come up with a scene and just make tourney's out of the blue.

-San Antonio only has Kyle hosting tourneys for brawl and a major one hasn't happened since Final Smash 4 back in what... July?


This rivalry stuff won't do much. What we need to encourage is having more major tourneys in more places. Larger tourneys attract more people, and that competitive fire inside everybody strengthens when there's more on the line. Texas doesn't need a rivalry, we just need more big tourneys to rise.

This. People need to TRAVEL.

You don't understand how frustrating it is for someone like Dojo or me to go to a dallas tournament or something and see 0 houston players. Seriously we travel everywhere :/.

Really though, I just want to see a giant crew battle LOL. I could care less about North and south. I don't have ties with either side. I would rather just cheer for my friends .

The crew battle is going to be awesome though.

You guys are missing the whole point though. West texas will own every other region in our state.

I'd LOVE to travel all over Texas to play.

However, I have other obligations (school, etc), and at the moment, I have neither the funds, nor the ability to make it to another tournament at another city.

Unless I get carpooled. That's probably the only possible way I'd be able to go anywhere.
And no one in SA carpools to anywhere, with the exception of Nike's carpool to Houston for HOBO...once.

Believe you me, a competitive environment is what I want the most.
The problem is that this state is too **** huge, so moving around is a MUST, something many people like myself can't do just about yet.

So big possibility there will be some Herbivore representatives. Feel free to take the time to sway some of us that are on the line.

Bluezaft told me he doesn't plan on coming since he won't be in San Antonio, so I dunno what Dallas Melee has for housing anymore.

As for trying to convince him to come, well, I leave that to Dallas.

In response to the Melee questions I have this:

I'm so far estimating at least 20 to 30 right now (hey.... I wouldn't complain. That last Melee event in Dallas was 20 something but it's the biggest I've seen in Texas since Brawl)

This could easily exceed hit 35-40 if the other cities squeeze out their Melee players. Only way to make those numbers is for people to show up!
