empty shffl shines (against wall).
What's that?

What I find about sliding methods is that:
1. I keep hitting the A button.
2. It is kinda uncomfortable, but with sufficient practice it should become second nature.

I will try to use Y to shdl (and perhaps multishining) from now on, as a new technique like how I started using the X button to sh. For multishine, I hit down b, then up, then rinse and repeat.

When doing Thunder's Combo, is it better to use the C-stick when doing the shffl'ed uair? I can't C-stick.

Yup sliding your thumb from X to B is commonly used for shdl or double shine and double shine pillar, and I can shdl with x to b and that's the way I double shine(but I rarely do it) and if you do it with the tip of your thumb you shouldn't hit A in the proccess and btw my fingers are so fast that I can double shine without sliding my finger(just moving it)
Congratufreakinlations. I can move my thumb so fast i do perfect speed jc shines now, with only 1 frame of non-shieldstun.

@4 Aces: What is it? you shine, shff, shine.
on sliding: So what if you hit A? who cares?
using the control stick blows for multishining, due to lack of consistancy that digital buttons give.
It's better to do uairs however you freakin feel like it, since a shffld uair is a shffld uair. I use C. Others don't.

when i first got into advanced techs, i used to always be like "but OMGz guyz hoe do u hold teh controller nd press teh buttons X or Y or control stick which is best plz" and people used to give me useless answers like "do whatever is comfortable for you, just practice"

they were right.

Well, it just screws me over in matches, when I shdl and instead a nair pops out. That's all I was saying.

Yeah, everybody (including me...:embarrass) come on the boards asking questions, hoping to have all of their problems fixed, and expecting to master it just by reading what others post. Yeah, I see where you're coming from and where you're going with this. ;)

Edit: I guess I'm just frustrated that I can't get a few of these techniques down.

You just press B. You can interrupt it at any of the five frames that Fox creates an illusion of himself.

to be more precise, you start the illusion, and cancel it at any of those 5 frames by pressing b the 2 frames before (so it registers on the frame before). And it's not right after you press side b. with fox, there is a significant start up time before the motion, and you need to watch out for it. Falco's has much less start up time.

Didn't think I would screw up that bad. :embarrass I just wanted to quote part of his quote, not the whole thing.

You guys go X->B? Wow... I always go Y down to B... mainly because my Smash controller has sunken in buttons, so it's really hard to press X, not hit A, and hit B...

I C-Stick certain moves (U-Air, B-Air while moving forwards, other situational stuff), and you have to get used to it... I remember a short time ago I was very anti-C-stick, but then I realized some things (such as the shffld u-air) were very hard...

the shortened illusion is used for two things, obviously: different recovery onto the ledge, and situational mindgames... while useful to be able to do, it's usually not a good move... then again, half of Smash is situational...

Play against good people, go to tournaments, and otherwise play against as many different people as you can.

about your sig.... it's FastLikeTree, not Fast like a tree (actually, i believe technically, it's in all caps...)

This is why it will be so good to have brawl online. Best is a lvl 1 cpu on vs mode. Doesn't compare to an actuall player but if you have no other choice practice you tech skill and some* combos on a lvl 1 comp.

Skillfully.

Well, first i warm up by just messing around. sometimes by owning lvl 1s, until my fingers are moving fast enough. Then i just practice whatever techniques need practicing (usually in training mode). I'll drillshine various characters, i'll multishine, i'll edge wavedash, etc... For those of you who're new to advacned techs, you could always practice your shffls on bowsers and stuff...

lol put hell aka oskurito plz and you can learn some mindgame tricks by watching other people(LunInspectra is basicly what you're looking for) not only foxes... you know what I mean? here's a classic one: Go running towards your opponent wavedash backwards forward smash him on the face(obviously you want to avoid this at low percentages) it can be predictable but it does its job sometimes

How's it going Fox users? Superman here, and I main Falcon. I used to second DK, but ever since I picked up Fox, I just couldn't let the fool go. So I got a vid up, and was wondering if some of you elite players such as Silent could help me improve my Fox.

I'm new to all the advanced techniques, so I'm still perfecting my infinites. I didn't want to start a new thread just for this, since all I'm seeking is advice, not to show off. I want to know the best approach tactics with Fox. Nair and Lasers or what?

sry, i don't know why but the beggining was halarious!!! Approaches: well if someone won't come to you shdl, and if you guys are at it yes nair (shffl and l-cancle it, then shine>wavedash>uthrow>uair...or just infinite if link)...other than this if what your sayin is true(that your new to this adv. stuff) then ****, your pretty good!

I would say your biggest problem is that you stop your movement so often and it makes you so much easier to read. You should be moving at all times with fox. A moving target is harder to hit/grab/read. Your tech skill seems pretty good but alot of your problems stem from what im guessing is just lack of experience that you will pick up. Things like speed, reaction time, etc come with playing better opponents.

Quoted for truth. And yes. I do suck at playing this game. So i am asking for any advice that anyone has.

It may not look like it to an (extremely) untrained eye, but in all reality... I blow.

What are Fox's best options for recovering from the ledge, particularly against a Marth? I tend to eat an fsmash almost no matter what I do. :(

If you get fsmashed, sweetspot. Or get near it enough to tech.
If he starts to counter, go upward at times.
This is when it becomes a mindgame. All you can do at this point is hope or predict.

Well I can often get to the edge, but then if I do a ledgehopped aerial he just wavedashes back and fsmashes. And if I roll on, fsmash...climb on, fsmash...etc.
