Since no one hear mentioned it yet. C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!

That commentating over the gameplay was not necessary. Also this game is being made by people who made crappy movie games so don't keep your expectations high. Just saying...

A couple years too late, F2P except you have to buy all the chars, made by the same studio that brought you gems like Silent Hill: Homecoming and Battleship. Also, XBone exclusive, yeesh.

Yeah, I'm not gonna hold my breath for this one.

Kind of out of left field, but when I picked up The Last of Us, I also got Street Fighter X Tekken, so I was wondering if anybody here on PS3 has it, knows a bit on how to play it, and might be able to offer up some beginner advice.

I still play SFxT pretty often. I'll have (mediocre) internet for the first two weeks of July, so we can play then.

I guess the best piece of beginning advice I can give is to be very aware that this game is not SF4. I'd recommend learning Tekken characters first to disabuse yourself of that notion early.

I have it on the PC and the Vita, which is capable of cross-platform play with the PS3, but not cross-platform invitations. Brilliant implementation by Capcom.

Right, and I'm actually glad to hear it's not SF4. Like, don't get me wrong, I like some of the characters of SF4 and that, but not how they operate in that engine (like Juri and Ibuki, and how SF4/SSF4/AE/2012 Sakura will NEVER feel like the natural playstyle of her to me), so I'm hoping it's entirely it's own beast since from playing TTT2 and liking it but sorta thinking it'd be neat if it was 2D, yeah.

It's good you recommend sticking with the Tekken characters at first, since the main ones I've tried so far have been Lili, Asuka, King, Jin, Nina, Xiaoyu, and I want to say a teeny tiny bit of Kazuya and Raven.

Game is being supported by FGC and some of the original cast who worked on the game is returning. Plus with the horrendous drm and always online features axed the console has more potential.

I very highly doubt those things are permanently axed. And plus, the Kinect stuff still remains from what I understand. Plus...didn't some people get like day 2 100+ hit combos in that game?

Now that its come to light that Microsoft is working with the NSA to spy on innocent Americans I can't in good conscience buy the Xbox One. Real shame too because I'm a huge fan of Killer Instinct Gold on the N64 so I was really looking forward to playing the new KI. :(

I'm right there with you, Grizz.

It's a damn shame.

Oh, if MS gets rid of the spy cam, tells the US government to mind their own business and drops the price of the Xbox One by $100 I might be back onboard. Otherwise its the PS4 for me next time around.

I don't like the idea that the free KI demo only offers people the choice of Jago. You should only get one character for free but it should be any character you choose.

The way it stands now 95% of the characters you'll face on-line are going to be Jago and that's gonna suck all the fun out of the on-line experience. Sorta like the way it sucks that there are so many Ryu & Kens when you play Super Street Fighter IV on-line.

Prepare to be very disappointed. The game still has a large emphasis on ground links, something I'm not the biggest fan of. Juggle combos are another story.

So, I just saw the EVO 2014 schedule and...wow. That's a LOT of BS in that schedule there.
Just saw it. Schedule's rather interesting to say. According to tweets, MK has the lowest turnout while TTT2 barely just beat it. P4A as a 1 day tourney on Friday is rather sad.
Smash on Sunday worries me. It or Injustice is going to get the crappy morning slot. Smashers will get mad saying they have a crappy slot because of bias and Injustice players will get mad since it'll be a repeat like UFGT.

That's actually rather unsurprising that MK9 had the lowest turnout as people kinda said the game was dying BEFORE Injustice came out, let alone after. TTT2 just barely beating it is actually surprising too since it came out in September. What's weird to me is having just ONE game finish on Saturday, and this is without getting into how ridiculous it is (to me) to have Persona on Friday as opposed to Saturday (as I'm being realistic and figured it wouldn't be a Sunday game).

Melee apparently has a bit over 500 entrants, and considering how Smash in general goes, there's legitimately no way it would have finished on Friday. That being said though, I don't see why it couldn't finish on Saturday. Like, if Tekken has so few entrants then why not run it to Semis on the Saturday, and just throw it in the "crappy morning spot" Sunday?

It's hard to say how the games are going to go Sunday, though if I had to guess they might want to do Melee in the morning so they can get all the Gamecubes and CRTs out of the way, then they'll probably put KOFXIII up, and have Injustice there to sort of chill out the crowd a bit between KOFXIII and UMVC3 so they're not worn out for AE like they were last year when the back to back combination of KOFXIII followed directly by UMVC3 just sapped all their energy with how hype they were.

That, or they'll just go from bottom to top for Day 3 with the EVO schedule, which I hope not, as that would put KOFXIII in the morning slot, and have Melee then Injustice back to back.

3D Fighters simply aren't loved in the US which is a darn shame really. The only thing Tekken has going against it is that you have to put time into learning your character more than usual.

That's very true, but even as somebody who's terrible at it, I can say that when you actually get something down, it feels like one of the most rewarding things in the freaking world.

Still, I do wish some things were made simpler, namely in some of the movesets. Does King really need his chain grabs to be that long. It honestly seems like some of the strings, at times, are simply from the previous games.

I've been doing a little experimenting in the training room. Turns out Chun-Li has excellent synergy with Nova's Centurion Rush assist.

couldn't that be done with almost any assist?

Not likely, no. The second heavy Hyakuretsukyaku causes a lot of hit stun decay. Chun-Li can't link any hypers off of it unless she calls an assist, and the window to call an assist between EX Spinning Bird Kick and the second Hyakuretsukyaku is only one or two frames. Naturally, that means the assist has to start up very quickly and cause enough hit stun to get off a third Kikoanken. Nova's Centurion Rush is quick and causes a ground bounce, which basically amounts to another free hit. Iron Man's Repulsor Blast and Magneto's Hyper Gravitation work pretty well, too.

0-2 in Divekick (I underestimated not knowing matchups), 1-2 in GG (execution was so bad) and 2-2 in BB (again, execution was bad). I think Evo has motivated me enough to finally take fighters seriously unlike before. I really want to beat people that really practice each game.

My hiatus of Street Fighter is over now too. lol

Out of curiousity, is Divekick as fun and hype as it looks?
Super fun, and very easy to get into and enjoy. It's actually a really good game to teach fundamentals. All you do is learn character matchups and spacing. Also teaches new players how important it is to control the center of the stage since that's how you win time outs.

Welp, there goes what was left of my fighting game pride. :/

Because you know, going 0-40 all the time wasn't enough...

Guess it might be time I finally put some real effort into this thing.

Haha, it's more like I want to face tourney goers more on a more usual basis. I mostly get in my playtime with people through those SWF lobbies. I want to still do that and more.

I don't mind helping people out here to level up. If anyone has the motivation to get better at a game, I'll help them any way I can if they ask.
