Well, MvC2 suffered what every game from 5 years ago and back suffered: lack of patches.

At least for Blazblue there are a lot of rules for that one hitconfirm: The stronger your initial attack was, the more damage each individual hit will deal. Strong Attacks won't chain to many other attacks, so it's not always viable to spam them. With few projectyles and/or D Button exceptions.
Skullgirls divides attacks by Combo Stages, certain attacks belong to a certain Stage, and force you to do attacks belonging to equal or higher Stages in order to continue the Combo. There are certain few circumstances that will reset the Stage count, but I really don't wanna expand much on that right now.

Before going into a more deep argument, let me make this clear:
I'm not saying MvC3 is bad, it's really fun to play, you can feel the adrenalin as it is very fast-paced. I just feel it is just too superficial for me.

I'd say at least 16 were viable in MvC2, and that includes characters that were only good for their assists (since it is a team game after all). I feel like there are more though, but top players were just too lazy to explore them.

I'd play MvC3 more if I wasn't just so lazy. The game has an easy learning curve but there's so much tech now that's needed for top level play. While I'm not the greatest fan of 100 percent combos since I'm a fan of resets, it's not too different from other fighters where it takes 3 combos to win a round.

I'd play Marvel 2 again but my PS2/PS3 stick's R2 button is dying. I could play it on 360 though.

Edit: I dunno, Bang's 5A into over 4k damage was dumb in CS1. BBCP has a lot of dumb stuff as well.

I'd go and mention how even Guilty Gear and P4A have some dumb stuff, but I suspect coming from me it would be interpreted wrong. It's like if I was to point out how I liked V-ism Sakura, and HD combos in KOFXIII.

I agree that Marvel is starting to show its kusoge (TAC infinites, lel), but players with strong fundamentals are the ones that most consistently win at that game, so I don't really know what you guys are trying to say about fundamentals here.

And it's okay not to like things. I don't like most FGs at the moment, Marvel included.

Well yeah, I mean Justin, Chris G, and FChamp all have good fundamentals, but I think they got those fundamentals as a result of playing other games. I was just saying that I don't feel those that are good and have good fundamentals got them from purely playing Marvel. I don't dislike the game so to speak, I just think that to have fundamentals while playing it, you have to have already developed them from another game, if that makes sense.

But you can learn good fundamentals from any fighting game, regardless of what it is. I'm not saying everyone will, but it's not impossible, and to say otherwise would be kind of silly. That would be like saying you will only be able to learn how to play footsies playing SF or how to do combos playing Tekken. Also, Marvel is relatively new, so it's natural that all of the Marvel players come from other FGs. It hasn't had time to build new names yet.

Plus, in addition to learning regular fundamentals, you have to learn Marvel fundamentals as well.

I almost prefer a game not having patches. The guarantee that the game is in its completed state is a good one; it prevents players having reservations about advancing the metagame only to be punished for it later by the developers.
This is assuming the developers have enough foresight to prevent infinites and ******** ****, although it appears that Marvel's developers purposefully include them. Hilarious.

Well, you do have a point (even though some Tekken and KOF players I know insist Marvel fundamentals is a contradiction). I have to admit that I'm not even sure entirely what it is I've been trying to say. Like, there's just something about Marvel other than the whole "have to worry about 2 of your guys flying in and 2 extra of the other person's flying in" thing and I can't quite explain it right.

Getting a PSP this Friday.

Any suggestions for fighting games (or just games in general if you want)? Already have FF: Dissidia, GGAC+, DBZ Shin Budokai Another Road, and maybe Alpha 3 on my list.

Darkstalkers (not arcade perfect) and Power Stone Collection. If "acquiring" imports isn't a problem, the Gundam VS games are good too. As for games in general, the PSP has quite a lot of good games, but it really depends on your tastes. Lots of good RPGs on the handheld.

I'm looking into getting into UMVC3 again, and I'm not sure what team to use.
I'm thinking of running Firebrand and Vergil, but I'm not sure who else to use lol. I'm looking to use Vergil as an anchor, but don't care whether I use Firebrand on point or second.
To help, the characters I don't mind/am alright as are Trish, Arthur, Taskmaster, Viper, Joe, Ammy, Chun-Li, Nemesis, Phoenix Wright, Spider-Man, Iron Fist, Haggar, Tron, She-Hulk, Spencer, and Jill.

I'd prefer to use a quirky/unusual yet effective team, but I'm fine with adding any of those. I can probably play Haggar and Iron Fist best though tbh- would Firebrand/Haggar(Lariat)/Vergil(Rapid Slash) work?
Man up and use She Hulk.

Also, would it be better to direct Injustice discussion here or just make a separate thread?

Yeah, I used She-Hulk with Haggar and Jill as my secondary team on Vanilla MVC3. I didn't really like her changes all that much on UMVC3.

Oh, a fellow Haggar player, how nice! He's such a beast, crushing the opposition with him can be so easy sometimes... Siding him with Hulk and a tertiary character, like say Wesker or Chris, is an almost sure victory for me. But Hulk is so powerful I never use him, I feel his Strong attack is cheap. XD

MvC3 online is only rinse-and-repeat now, spamming the same combo seems to be the only viable option. I will never understand that, hitting the same buttons voer and over is the same order just to win is so boring...

Hulk can be cheap, yes. With a Level 3 X-factor, he only needs to connect one time to completely destroy his opponent, without any hope. I don't talk about spamming Gamma Wave, that's so easy to counter.

I can back this up and support this from personal experience.
Then I met with the wrong opponents, because I assure you most of my fights go like this:

"Meet X"
"Do a wrong move"
"Meet a long and painful combo who isn't even flashy"
"Get back up, do a wrong move"
"Die".

I am not saying you are wrong, I'm just explaining what I've seen.

That's how marvel goes most of the time lol

Also, I can see Hulk being cheap in netplay. Much like how netplay tager works \o/.

So uh, I'm completely new to this stick business. Can anyone give me a link to a madcatz TE stick? I see everyone always has the SSF4 version but when I look online, they're like $400 (wtf lol). I thought they were supposed to be the entry level stick with mediocre parts lol.

(Canadia btw)

The JoJo game looks totally awesome, I'd buy it Day 1 if I had a Japanese PS3. Tough luck for me...

Is this the same thing? I'm specifically looking for the shape so I can get a custom panel replacement from Art Hobbies.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the same dimensions of all the non SFXT fightsticks. There's a chance I could be wrong though. It might be best to ask at SRK or something in the Tech Talk threads just in case, or at least e-mail the site where you're getting the custom panel.

It should work since it's region free (and I doubt they'll pull a Persona). There's a rumor that it'll be localized and released digitally in Europe, so it could be out in the US eventually as well.

You know, you could just try Canadianjoysticks.com, couldn't you? I just checked and they have Hori's for $129 and Qanba Q4s for $159 at the moment. And I think they're in stock too.

Edit: Nvm, I think I misread what you were asking.

Yo, I'm attending one of Canada's Maritime majors this weekend, Fight For Infinity 5. Check out the stream, if you're interested (tournament starts today at 11:00AM EST): http://www.twitch.tv/ralstoninstall You'll might see me doing commentary at some point! :3

There's gonna be 3SOE, P4A, TTT2, AE 2012, and UMvC3. There's also going to be a provincial AE 3v3.

Probably late on this since I'm actually out and just stopped onto check my PMs about something, but if you're still in and it's still going, then good luck Lythi.

Darkstalkers Resurrection tomorrow.

I had kind of forgotten about it. Thinking about picking it up, I've always wanted to give the series a try.

I'll be getting it. My R2 button is still out though and I don't have the tools to open up my HRAP at the moment. Guess I'll be mapping HK to R2 and play with my pinky for now. :ohwell:
