annnddddd??? We still won most of the time. Cj didnt do much. And that was when melee was starting to get really competitive. I dont believe masashi, aniki, bs, mach dash, thunders, or any other japanese players won anything over here. (although they didnt come over here much)

I've talked to a lot of people who met Japanese Smashers and they all say that Japan is roughly on our level, but they play differently. They are much more unorthodox than us, but America usually has better fundamentals in Smash.
I would argue that Japanese execution is better too. All of the execution-heavy characters win tournaments, and their stage list favours that type of playstyle.

We are better at execution than Japan in Smash.
Now if America put in just 1/4th of the same amount of dedication to fighting games that we do in Smash, then we'd finally not be the butt of all combo/blocking related jokes.
