Falco = New character for MetaKnight Mainers after the ban

I was just thinking, we all know Meta Knight is eventually going to be banned, what character do you think they will turn to and play? For example when M2k goes to Hobo 12. I can just imagine M2K playing Falco. That one pick up would increase Falco's meta game 10 fold. Thoughts?

Very good points Alpha but Melee Marth is no Meta Knight . Meta Knight has no weak match ups. Unlike Falco which plays horrible against Game & Watch, ROB, and Ice Climbers.

Yeah there a few guys who are sticking to falco, like SK92. As long as he has the chaingrab he will be used in tournies/will be top tier but i think he is gonna be played less at a PROFESSIONAL level.

Also you gotta understand theres more than just tourney results when it comes to banning characters. if MK is banned falco is not the next option because falco has bad matchups/weaknesses, characters like D3, Snake, and GW will be used more.

I could be wrong, but I think AZ was making a satirical point about the way things are going. I don't know what his opinion on the potential Metaknight ban is, but I think we're all jumping to conclusions way too early. The 'slippery slope' theory and all that.

The problem with that is scrubs are all unanimously against Metaknight because he's too good,and they don't want to put the effort into learning the match up. I don't care if you're for or against the ban but you need to be able to argue it logically, not just "MK IS TEH BROKEZ"

At least with the system we have we have to argue our points and the back room can sift through it to find validity in the issues raised.

Marth will probably become the new MK, only with weaknesses. Even though he doesn't have any hard counters, Marth's recovery is predicable and easy to gimp, which is much more than you can say about MK's Shuttle Loop.

I'm already changing my main to random button. I'm still going to primarily use MK though, at least until he's (most likely) banned.

Btw, as far as wanting to ban MK goes, people need to look past his matchups. He's not the first character in any fighting game to have no bad matchups. Yun and Old Sagat weren't banned for lacking disadvantageous matchups (OSagat is soft-banned in Japan but they're more liberal with bans than us Yankees).

ummm, Houstons banning of MK wasn't spurred by M2K. lol M2k is a legitimately good player and could most likely beat anyone with a majority of the cast. Houston had been talking about banning MK for quite some time, in fact the person who IS hosting Hobo 12 (Stiltzkin NOT Xyro) MAINS metaknight.

also Melee marth is nowhere near as broken as MK.

More and more people are up to experimenting with taking MK out of the picture, I doubt many legitimate tournament directors have also stated they want to make MK's restriction permanent.

I run tournaments and I have my own ideas for combatting MK without out-right banning him. And even if I did ban him, as long as I'm running tournaments I don't intend to have him completely ignored forever.

The fact that tournament runners are getting a stream of hate purely by "experimentation" only shows how immature people are about playing this game... "professionally".

And to remain on topic.

Well, a lot of characters would start being used more. Falco definitely gives reason to be used; but I see people going back to Marth or Snake.

That's dumb. SBR generally comes up with good rules, but when they fail there's no reason to agree because "well they're the SBR".

Maybe you're right, though, at the moment SBR's stance is that there is no official ban, but wish for TO's to experiment with the idea of banning Metaknight. So their decision has been to leave it with us (According to Mew2King). So I don't think my faith has been misplaced.

Although, what I said before, I'll admit, has changed considerably over the last month.

If you look at all the reccomended ruleset, the SBR stresses that we should only refer to their list as a guide. Right now, my home state is working on an adapted ruleset that is using 10+ starters!

They expect people to consider what they have to say seriously, but at the same time, not follow their rulings to the dot. Nobody can expect that their reccomended ruleset could possibly cater for every tournament, and more importantly, the types of players they draw.

But like I said before. I'm not against banning Metaknight anymore, but I'm no advocate of it either.
