My Ganon has more balls than yours K00P. ;)
Your first mistake was to refer to them as balls when real men only refer to them as ********.

Your second mistake was to believe that these are zeros in my forum name. They are actually just incredibly manly o's.

Your third mistake was to think it's the Ganon that makes the man.. For you see brado, it is the man who makes the Ganon, and I'm packin girth.

xx

im even thinking b'ham over sussex atm, relatively close in terms of how 'good' the two unis are and birmingham just seems like a much more interesting area, and obviously, the pros of being close to active smashers (and carders lol)

And yeah, im not too gutted tbh, i kinda expected it cos i knew i weren't getting 3 As :/

I'm sure which ever you choose it'll be great, but tbh after the top like 10 unis the rankings dont really matter on how 'good' they are, not a lot to judge it on lol.

Of course I'm hoping you go to Brum :p

yeah exactly,

aaah these league tables are baffling me though

on one, birmingham is on par with sussex, but on another, birmingham is like 30 places under :s
I suppose I should look at just mech eng rather than the whole picture and they're pretty much the same

can anyone comment on how nice birmingham is lol? Only went for ggt2 but i've heard it's not that nice haha

Alrighty, but yeah it really just depends on the subject at each uni. As some can suck in general but have really good aspects in certain subjects lol.

I'll be honest lol. I go to Birmingham a lot as have friends who go to uni there etc.

For shopping Birmingham is amazing, one of the best Cities I've seen for it tbh lol, bullring is great. Birmingham Centre is very nice. But once you get out of centre it isn't so nice, but this is the general trend for most cities really. Some areas towards the outskirts are just plain grim. I would say this is true for a lot of Uni cities tho, Nottingham being a great example lol

As for Unis tho, you will only be visiting the nice parts. I've been to Birmingham Uni aswel as Aston and the areas near both I was impressed.

I think MTR also went to Birmingham Uni so asking him would be good to I imagine :)

its not as bad as people say lol trust me, i live in birmingham.

Will you be going to the actual birmingham uni or like me a fake one (birmingham city uni lol). the one i went to was the worst but saying that wasnt that bad an area. As george said some areas are grim, but hey, thats what you get with big cities

Well it's like comparing the posh side of London with Hackney; there's always going to be those areas you should never go near, and areas you should stay in.

Hell scunny's no exception to that rule ... although the number of bad areas far outweighs the good >.>; but still. :p if the areas where you're meant to be are good then that's good.

K.Mac opinion.

For sure, if you can manage it, take a look around both, just thinking about what it will be like to live in these areas for 3 years :p which is kind of a scary thought lol.

If you are looking at going to the good birmingham uni It is on a seperate campus to the city and has its own train station leading to and from the city.

The campus itself is amazing, it litterally has everything and is gigantic. The accomodation is also very good.

Having also been and seen Sussex, I'd say personally that birmingham has a better campus, location, nightlife, accomodation and reputation than sussex, despite their near-equal ranking.

But thats just the advice from someone who has experience the nightlife of both places, aswell as seen/stayed at the campus.

Also, I decided to defer my entrance to birmingham this year, and having reserved a room in Gill Street (the top accomodation) which is now sold out, have some awesome reserved accomodation up for grabs. So if your choice ends up being birmingham let me know and ill ring them up about giving you the room.

- Birmingham is a great Uni man. I've never been to Sussex, but I'm sure it's great there too so congrats man.

I'm with X-1277&&&%@7745

on this one. You should go visit both Unis and go to the one which has the best 'vibe'. That's how I chose between Sheffield and Leeds. I went with Leeds and I couldn't be happier. Follow the vibes man.

Try to go on accommodation open days and get a feel for the place. Definitely don't decide without seeing both Unis.

Yeah I would jump at the opportunity to check both out but I've got to make the decision today :/

I think I'm still leaning towards Sussex today, I'll guess I'll find out I truly want to go to when I accept one of their places

also cheers for the input guys :D

Tam - Im aware you have probably already made your decision already but thought it hoy a few things in. Firstly, outside of the top twenty universities there really is very little difference between them in terms of what you get and the reputation it gives you in terms of employability. Unless you are doing something very specialised that the uni is renowned for (im thinking vetinary science etc). Other than that you just need to make sure that the degree in the first place is worth doing i.e. your likelyhood of being employed through it e.g. law is one of the worst degrees to do at uni. There are league tables for this, google it.

Past that I would just weigh up which place you would prefer to live in for three years. I think this is waaaay more important than the Uni itself (unless it was prestigious). You have to live there afterall and will spend more time outside of Uni buildings than in them. Remember you only usually live in Uni accommodation for one year so find out where the student areas of both places are located and what they are like. I would definetly visit both before making a choice.

When weighing things up contemplate how good the buldings are, your ease of travelling around the city, nightlife (not just clubbing but food etc), accommodation and how easy it is to visit family and friends. If smash does have an influence in Birmingham you have me, george, lc and others nearby in comparison to robby and beast (swizzy lives in london). I think you would play us alot more than the latter ;)

In regards to Birmingham itself it is like any big city (london, manc, glasgow etc). Some really nice places and some **** places. Ive just moved down here and to be honest I enjoy what Birmingham has to offer in terms of food places, cafes and shopping alot aswell as the ease of being able to visit the rest of the uk. I have had no need to visit any of the dodgier areas of Brum and don't perceive why I ever will. Uni accommodation wise it is located in the nicer areas of Brum and close to the city centre (easy train links) so you shouldn't need to worry about that.

Anyway, let everyone know what you decide ^_^

Ok, choice made, and it was a choice I really didn't think I had the balls to go for

I've really had my heart set in loughborough for many reasons, and I've decided to take another year out and really go for one last try to get there. I gave It a lot of thought and research and I genuinely think I can get the 3As needed without the distraction of work I had this year, got 1A and two Bs this year.

So yeah, there's still hope that I'll become part of the midlands scene but that's on hold for one more year. You'll still be seeing plenty of me though, will def be coming up for the malvern hills thing and other things from time to time, including any Leicester tournaments etc

sorry for not choosing bham guys!
