who remembers the knuckles comics where you could put 3 covers next to each other to make a bigger picture. That was so epic.

I wouldn't mind helping with advertisement posters and promotion something like that. Other than college, I'm currently not working on any outside projects, so you can PM me if you want.

You look like you do some pretty awesome work!~ We probably could use your help, but we don't get paid or anything. It's all super smash-related volunteer work.

Event 2 & 3 - Melee added to ECRC!!

Moving forward in the season.
We are proud to announce our next 2 events!

ECRC2 EVENT 2: Brawl til you Fall!

Discuss this event here!
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=218000

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ECRC2 EVENT 3: APEX!

We have 2 venue options and date options which are still not 100% confirmed, but i can tell you this much!
Where: NY/NJ
When: May

Melee?! YES! But singles only. The actual schedule will be tight enough as it is but we will have a full staff, and i am entirely confident in the staffs ability to pull this off.
Will you be able to compete in melee and brawl: Unlikely, But we will see

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CoT 4
I'll make this quick. If you were one chanting, you really should be ashamed.
For those of you who have never ran your own tournament , let alone a national tournament, you have NO idea how much work it is! Now, yes its true that i was unable to attend this event, which is terribly unfortunate because i think i could have helped alot, but you have no right ot bash chibo. If i am correct CoT4 was the second largest brawl tournament of all time (in the US at least) maybe melee too? Thats incredible! Running that? NOT EASY
Lets jump back a year and a half or so, im sure some of you remember Viva la Smastaclysm, want to know how stressful that was for me? I spent months planning that, drove hours to pick up and drop off people at the airport, and spent hours setting up and breaking down. What happened, somebody stole 1k out of the pot, forcing me to short the venue on the money i owed them, and even pay out money from my own pocket! now whats wrong here, I spent my own time, and money doing something for the community, and the community walked right on me (the community can be one person)

Stealing Wii's needs to stop, i will be proposing a wii check in system, that will not allow players to leave with wii's without checking out with a TO at the door. All wii's at events will need to be marked. This is just insane.
But of course it gets worse
Now when i heard chibo had to get escorted, i got rather upset, the man who is working his *** off to give you, the community a good time, is scared for his life to go outside?
Come on guys, this is unacceptable.

Dont do this again. We are a community that is respected by many. Evo says we are a model community, and MLG supported us for years. Please, please don't change their opinion.
And old school players, you cant blame this on the new players, its everyone.

M2K never wants to go to melee stuff anymore :( so maybe a PC vs M2K rematch will happen at one of these events. Looking forward to it cuz PC is now 10 times better than his OC3 Fox...look out son.

Good stuff on melee being added to the circuit though. Ill play brawl now since its there

ummm I really doubt that PC is 10 X better than his OC3 fox. You seem really biased when you haven't even played his OC3 Fox. Have you even played him at OC3? Don't base off vids. From what I heard PC beats Jman like 2/3rds of their Fox dittos and has beaten everyone else. He's probably around my level if not a little worse right now (taking me at the point of my last Melee tourney of course) but hyping it up by saying a clear lie is dumb.

Quoted from Alphazealot

"Someone (I think maybe it was Edreese) once suggested that the rule against "No planking" should be rewritten to "No one may grab the edge more than x times in a match", the number he suggested was 70, a number apparently borrowed from Japanese rule sets. This means enforcing planking would be easy - you simply check the "edge grab" statistic at the end of the game and if its over 70 then the opponent gets an automatic win."

BOTH events should enforce this rule!

If you haven't payed attention to the average # of ledge grabs in a game why wouldn't it be atleast worth a try. The number of ledge grabs doesn't have to be 70 either. Of course I can see why nofair would be a problem to that rule but only that stage, which alot of people want banned now anyways.

Lol do you really think someone is going to recover on the ledge over 70 times?! Obviously you don't play brawl lol

Someone like DK may ledge stall to edgeguard. If you're being edgeguarded, dropping from the ledge and regrabbing the ledge is sometimes the safest thing to do. You can't force a person to make themselves vulnerable. With DDD, I usually camp the ledge with f-airs/u-airs until the person backs the f*ck off so I can get back on the stage safely. Any other option is too easily punishable.

Ok so you don't know me and you give me this "You don't play brawl" and to respond to m2k is - be quiet boy.

Good one.

You obviously show bias in you retort and you talk in such a general way. You infer that I don't play brawl but I'm here to assure you that you are sadly mistaken. I've played competitive smash for a long time now and it happens. I've seen it happen. The only reasonable thing you can do is to call an official over to watch the match of a known "staller" thats it.

THAT IS IT.

Other than that, Lobos, you are a fu;cking ******

i remember checking the edge grab stat in a teams game at CoT4, it was 1.

Then I checked it a couple other times, it was never under double digits.

Maybe I should start playing like a jerk, since apparently more edge grabs equal more wins? >_>

well, you can't prove he was stalling

however, your opponent can prove that you paused

therefore, YOU would probably get DQ'd

stalling rules are stupid and unenforceable; the edge grab count is the best way but it's still super flawed... there's no reason 70 would be set in stone though. Track your edge grab counts over a few games, get a ton of data, and then find a cutoff point where you deem it "too much"

I doubt that in any "legitimate" game, anyone is grabbing it over 50 times as is

the rule about pausing needs to go at least for this specific situation where you want to grab a TO to oversee your match

I hear dazwa once falcon punched a human being IRL, roasting them on contact.

I don't think that ledge grabbing should be stopped... I think brawl should be dropped and melee should rule the world.

Unless you're really ****ed up, because brawl is mad fun when you're ****ed up.

In all seriousness though, you can't "BAN" all these tactics so early on, it's getting rididculous. The brawl community whines SOOOOOO much.

Brawl is a fun game, play like a ***et if you want to, but if you're just going to whine that everyone plays like a ***et, DONT PLAY BRAWL.

It's a new game, it's a somewhat lame game, but it's all built in, so either deal with it, or pulla nightmare and just play for ****in' fun

[added] Being ban happy ruins the meta game, also. Just sayin'... You can't evolve a game if you ban too many things off the bat

If people are complaining about planking then go back to melee LOL i mean brawl is basically revolved around being patient and doing safe non/ or hardly punishable strategies. it doesn't get anymore patient or hardly punishable than planking. good stuff. Also the ledge grabbing x amount of times rule is ******** LOL. CoT5 now with official Ledge stall counter staff. "Plank a fair warning has been issued you ledge camped 42 times so far."

Just so everyone knows, this event and all future events will have mandatory pre registration.

The Venue for this is good, but not quite as large as CoT 4 so registration will be limited to 175 people! (Subject to change)

How to Register:

Go to www.ECRC2k.com

  • Make an account on the ECRC2k
  • Go to "Registration" in the "Tournament" section and click on "Brawl til you Fall"
  • Scroll down to the bottom and fill out the form

Pre reg benefits us in many ways, but most importantly it will allow us to do the pools prior to the event and start it on time, no matter what.

Feel free to poke around the website, remember the ECRC is for and from the community, so with you we will continue to grow

And lastly if anyone took pictures at the event , and could send them to me i would greatly appretiate it.

See you at Event 2!

Edit.
