Why is Dracula X in the GBA collection? I'm happy it's being rereleased but the fact we have almost every 2D Castlevania game except Symphony and Rondo, the two most acclaimed games, is very annoying. Especially since Richter is relevant because of Smash.

Ah well, the collection still looks good. Hopefully they find a way to get the DS games on Switch.

Last predictions time:

To me, there's a slightly higher chance of a first party character. Historically, it's what every cycle but one has ended on. As for third parties, I'm looking to Sega and Capcom in particular, because they already have content in the game. So my top 5 would be:

• A Phantasy Star rep. Call it recency bias because I'm almost done with PSO2's storyline, but the more I play and the more I learn about this series' history, the more I think it's legitimately the most slept on series here. In case you're curious, I suggest watching GTV Japan's videos, they're very informative.
• Octoling. I know a lot of people will dismiss this as an Echo, but Splatoon 2 introduced just enough mechanics that I think it would make sense. And with Splatoon 3 next year, it would be an interesting way for Nintendo to get the ball rolling for promotion.
• Phoenix Wright. I know RE is technically a possibility, but I don't think we'll end with a massive seller like it. So I'm going with Phoenix - big enough to be notable, a decent amount of fan demand, long history with Nintendo, series got a new release in the west a few months ago... I think it's all there, for the most part.
• Another Pokémon. Look, I could cite several reasons why they wouldn't put a Gen 8 rep in now or why a Gen 4 rerun is impossible, but I also think that if there's one Nintendo franchise that should never be counted out, it's Pokémon. It's literally the only series that has slots reserved for it in Smash games, for Petes sake.
• Waluigi. Say what you will about memes, but the dude is still a popular Mario character. We're getting the reveal in a General Direct instead of E3 and the likes, so I'd say his chances of promotion would actually be pretty decent.

As far as Master Chief or Fortnite go, I'll believe it when I see it. Personally, I don't think either are likely now. Ending on a western character and a big game? Dunno...

Also, the Max/Alpha bit sure is strange. I think they're just trolling, but I don't remember the last time I saw Max joke like that outside of his videos - where you can clearly tell he's joking. Or maybe it's cause I don't go to Twitter very much.

The only issues I can think of for porting is touch controls which sucks as it screws with OoE Alvis mode, though PoR Sister Mode would need to be reworked a lot too but people don't really like it that much. Kinda. Bigger titles not being saved for last and all, as well as LoL being a western title that never really grew as big in Japan. I'd be a happy Saurus if I was wrong, though.

Kinda? It's never been confirmed, but it seems like FE is more of a case of being in the right place and time rather than having reserved slots like Pokémon has had at least since 4.

Mine would be Vergil, and even with the Kazuya argument he suffers too much competition from Capcom, particularly Phoenix Wright. Unlikely.

I would like to add that we also have a new Mario Party coming out next month, which will probably make an appearance at this Direct. Waluigi is the last recurring playable character of that series to not yet be playable in Smash, thus adding him now would provide an opportunity to promote an upcoming title as well, maybe even by his stage being a classic Mario Party board. It's one series that I'm surprised hasn't gotten a stage yet.

Overall, how much of a chance do you think your MWs have if it's shown today?

My number one most wanted (Zegram Ghart from Rogue Galaxy) has about as close to 0% chance as you can get. My next most wanted (Magus from Chrono Trigger) has better odds but still very unlikely. My third most wanted (the Battletoads) actually have a realistic chance but still not a great one. I think I’d give them about a 5-10% chance and the others basically 0%.

As was mentioned, Fire Emblem in that case is more of a right place, right time thing. Sakurai even said during 4 that had Awakening's release date shifted a little before or especially after, it would've missed the boat for Smash 4.

For Rhythm heaven, I'm not too confident, although I think there's a small chances that it could happen if Sakurai really wanted to use the concept he had for Smash 4 and Nintendo gave him enough liberty to let him use the character for the last spot even if Rhythm heaven is dormant.

Travis Touchdown was double deconfirmed with a costume and spirits, and then further with an interview with Suda saying he would love if he was in the next one. The hardest 0% of all time.

That said, just below him is a Capcom rep, particularly Phoenix Wright, and that's a little more plausible. However, the spread is just so large that it's impossible to know, really.

Yeah, cross fingers for a DS trilogy (+ some bonus like Adventure ReBirth) for next year

They also need to remake some day Dracula X Chronicles, thats PSP remake of RoB, the original and SotN. They re-release both games on PS4 but there is no PSP RoB

And finally a collection of Lords of Shadow trilogy (1, 2 and Mirror of Fate). With that I would be satisfied with Castlevania re-releases.

Not Waluigi specifically, but my gut is telling me the color associated with the last fighter is going to end up being purple, despite us bunking that one purple "leak" from a while back (if that can even be called a leak).

That was probably 2021's best "leak" because it went all over the place and lead to some less-discussed places if only because they happened to be purple. Yes, the turned out to be a miscalculation on epicmartin's part (IIRC) but it was also the closest to something kinda genuine for a while.

I mean, leakbait like Star Fox Grand Prix is something a lot of companies do. As for the other thing, they're absurdly protective of their IPs. When people say "Nintendo Ninjas", we're not joking.

TBF Sakurai's praised Half-Life 2 - but then again he has praised a lot of games, so it's not as much of an indicator as one may initially think since he's also praised games like Halo 2. And who knows what else, since Sakurai's been much more quiet about which games he enjoys as of late.

Still, in the event that Valve and Nintendo successfully negotiated for a character (which is difficult to see happening since the two corps have not interacted much, but still) I'd imagine that Gordon would be the primary pick.

Master Chief, I'm more inclined to believe it given that it was Vergeben that leaked him back before E3. I know people are saying that he didn't seem to know much about DLC but that was because he hadn't said anything, not because he was getting things wrong. He's still only gotten one thing wrong, and that one thing has been given a good explanation as to why

I'm also throwing Goku into the ring, purely because if it does happen I would like to be the only person in the fanbase to have predicted him.
