So I just finished watching Alpharad gush about getting his two absolute most-wanted dream picks as DLC and...hey, that's really cool. Good for him and all that. And while I personally got two of my biggest dream picks in the form of Simon and B&K, I'll admit, watching it got me a teensy bit bummed out that there's no way in hell that the last two characters will get me feeling anything close. Super selfish, I know, but I'd love to at least experience that rush one more time before Ultimate wraps up for good, y'know?

And it got me wondering, just out of personal curiosity and general interest in everyone in this thread: Who's the one character that would get you popping off if they were the last DLC announcement? Your dream character, the one you've always had in the back of your head whenever a new Smash reveal was on the horizon, even if you had to talk yourself down because you knew how improbable it was?

For me, that's Shantae. She's 100% not getting into Ultimate, but I've spent countless hours imagining her moveset, taunts, alt colors, Spirits, music tracks, Mii costumes, Classic Mode route, Final Smash, all of it. Just seeing her make a Sakurai-designed jump from 2D sprites to full 3D render would completely blow my mind. And this isn't me just bandwagoning, I've been daydreaming of that since before I even knew that this site existed haha.

Other characters would definitely still excite me (Neku Sakuraba and Leon Kennedy may be out of the running, and Eggman is all but deconfirmed by Pollock, but Amaterasu still has a...slim-but-still-existing chance), but if we're talking Banjo-Kazooie-levels of unbridled joy, none of them would match seeing Shantae get that Smash invite.

I don’t think anything will send me as high as I went when Simon and K. Rool got revealed on the exact same day. (Holy ****, that was over two years ago)

That’s easy, Ringo from Puyo Puyo. I love the franchise enough that Arle would probably bring such a reaction out of me but Ringo would probably make me more excited. That being said it would literally never happen so I’d be extremely satisfied with just Arle.

Later is another Smash game where they can truly shine as their own character.

I see that we're of different minds about this, but I think every fighting game character should be at least somewhat unique. I'd gladly take an inclusion later in uncertain circumstances if it means that they aren't doomed to be in the position they are now, forever, due to their weird original circumstances.

Of course it's not an option I'm exactly given, it's just a belief I hold. I'm glad that other fighting games have moved beyond "Let's just make this character exactly the same as another just to say they're in" inclusions.


Hold your horses buddy, the future of Smash is uncertain. The fact is no fighting game has a perfect retention rate across its entire series unless it died young. I wouldn't be so certain as to say Smash 6 will be bigger because it sells well when even among games that do sell well their sequels can vary wildly.

Nintendo will get a next smash bros made with sakurai, or not. It's a cash crop, even without sakurai it will sell

Her final song is pretty good, but yeah the title is weird. Probably just means “Man, I Love Funkin’” though.

My personal favorite is Spookeez, but the others are good too. My second favorite is probably one of the dad’s songs.

At this point mine aren't happening either.

Also, I honestly can't choose between Isaac, Bomberman, and Farmer Pete. The other characters in my sig are not far behind either.

The sad thing is at one point or another many of these characters seemed likely, or at least very possible inclusions. And here we are, in the timeline where the only character so far that I've lost my **** about has been Banjo, who I absolutely did not expect to be the one from my most wanted to get in. lol

I guess it's pretty obvious that my dream character is Crash Bandicoot. I just really REALLY want his trailer to call back to the crash screaming at nintendo trailer mixed with japanese crash commercials

Unrelated but I have a hunch we might get Sol revealed in the next two packs. Yes yes it's bias because Strive is releasing in two months but I do think that Kunio spirit event might be bread crumbs for more cooperation with ArcSys to get a fighter. I'm not super confident because Hayabusa is in the same status where we have Fatal Frame content in the base game but still no fighter from Koei Tecmo. Hopefully we get both of them. Hayabusa and Sol are awesome as hell and their moveset potential is off the roof.



Plus fire theory implies we'll get two fighters that can use fire in their moveset and these two fit that

I just got my ass beat by Justice for over an hour until I decided to turn my brain off and Dragon Install after randomly buying the original GG as a random 2AM thought, this pure Sol-brain behaivour needs to be in Smash, I want to go unga bunga with stupid ass aerials into Volcanic Viper and Smash will never be close to perfection if I can't do that

If Pyra/Mythra really do drop like, the first ****ing week of March, and this is just under the assumption that they somehow do.



This speculation period in between now and E3 is gonna be weird. As much as I think CP10 will drop in June, I can't with good faith say it's 100% impossible that CP10 won't drop somewhere in April or May either.


With how fast the character drops have been lately, relatively speaking, a May drop honestly doesn't even sound crazy when Sephiroth dropped just a little over 2 months after Steve.

Reimu and Adol.
Touhou has one of the most entrancing settings I've seen; The potential it has, the crazy powersets, the memorable designs, and a never-ending supply of songs, official and fanmade alike. It's been with me since last year, including the entirety of my time on SmashBoards. As such, Reimu being the last fighter would be pretty meaningful for me.
Ys is a more conventional want. The series is right up my alley, Ys VIII especially. The combat, the exploration, the music, it's all I'm looking for in a game. As of current, Ys VIII is my favorite game, and I would love to see it represented in Smash.
