FF1 is incredibly dated in terms of series standards to the point I'd say 2 captures the feel more than 1. That being said, play IX, the game with Vivi.Kinda wish Final Fantasy’s Black Mage was a fighter.
Smash Flash 2 made him cool. He’s got cool moves.
Also he’s got a cool design.
Anyway I got FF7 on Switch, got to where Aerith was taken and it’s pretty good so far. I’m interested in Black Mage too though so should I get the first game on mobile? Thought about just emulating the original game but eh idk. I don’t have a PSP so can’t get it on that; wish it was on Steam.
Speaking of Steam, did you know FF7 is a little bit cheaper on there than on the Switch right now? smh.
If you're really interested, go for it. But from what I've heard, Final Fantasy is a pioneer in its genre, which means:I’m interested in Black Mage too though so should I get the first game on mobile? Honestly? That's not a bad place to be with a series, in my opinion. I mean, I like New Super Mario Bros.Would you feel this philosophy applies to New Super Mario Bros? That they should just continue to make more of those forever? After all, those games sell like crazy. I guess Mario games should just be the same forever. No new ideas. Just fire flowers and flagpoles forever.
I didn't realize how much I enjoy getting new stages as well as characters until Ultimate's base only had four and I was like oh.just realized that a new smash game means a whole lot of new stages

Okay then, thank you. I’ll get it sometime; Vivi seems coolFF1 is incredibly dated in terms of series standards to the point I'd say 2 captures the feel more than 1. That being said, play IX, the game with Vivi.

The first Final Fantasy really isn't that hard. Especially later versions which kept getting easier to the point bosses had to have their HP increased to balance it out. As for its design, it holds up well for an early RPG. Encounter rate is fine, you can get by with minimal grinding and there's not much in its way that feels obtuse to work out. Worst you'll deal with in the original version is bugged equipment and spells which don't make the game harder and not having item descriptions which also isn't that much of a deal breaker. If you're really interested, go for it. But from what I've heard, Final Fantasy is a pioneer in its genre, which means:
Archaic Design: "Prepare for trouble!"
Extreme Difficulty: "And make it double!"
Juust saying, by the time you're done with Vivi, you'll want Vivi in Smash and not a nameless generic Black MageOkay then, thank you. I’ll get it sometime; Vivi seems cool
Yeah, that’s one of Ultimate’s lowest points; the piddling number of new stages.I didn't realize how much I enjoy getting new stages as well as characters until Ultimate's base only had four and I was like oh.
There is a FF1 port on GBA as well that is basically the PSP version, but less shiny and pretty looking.Kinda wish Final Fantasy’s Black Mage was a fighter.

Anyway I got FF7 on Switch, got to where Aerith (or “Aeris” as the default name says but I fixed it) was taken and it’s pretty good so far. The PSP version does have an extra dungeon, in addition to the new dungeons the GBA version added. There is a FF1 port on GBA as well that is basically the PSP version, but less shiny and pretty looking.
I'd look into that if the PSP version isn't an option.
EDIT: Actually I think the PSP version has an extra optional boss/dungeon the GBA version doesn't have? The optional dungeons/bosses in the GBA version are still fine and challenging though.
GBA version is still less of a pain to play than the NES version anyways.
Isaac is hype as heck for me
Reimu and Gordon would have me overjoyed while I think Isaac is a bit mid. But I would be more than okay with this pass.
Reimu: yay cool magic user and music and RAN RAN RUUUUUU
Reimu would be neat, don't know much about Half Life but I respect its legacy and Isaac is the definition of 'whatever' for me.
Good taste.Gordon Freeman
Gordon Freeman is cool, Though most of my history with Valve is tied more with the Left 4 Dead franchise and though I never really got a chance to play it, Team Fortress 2 has always looked fun and appealing to me.
I actually disagree with this. I thought FF2 was the one that felt the least like a FF game. I've played the first 10 and FF2 has that weird level up system and the dialogue system that are both never used again in the series. FF2 also doesn't have the classes like FF1 does so the black mage they were interested in isn't even in the game. Also a huge series staple is the whole crystal thing which is what FF1 was all about. I mean FF2 does add the chocobo but I personally wouldn't say it captures the feel of the series more than 1.FF1 is incredibly dated in terms of series standards to the point I'd say 2 captures the feel more than 1. I admittedly should have been clear on that but I meant in terms of writing and roleplaying, 2's much more ambitious in both regards and I feel 2 really set the stone for the franchise steadily becoming more story heavy, I highly recommend this video essay on it because it really helped me realize why I have a soft spot for it, though obviously I understand if an hour long video doesn't fit your scheduleI actually disagree with this. None of base game spirits got an update once their Mii costume got released later as DLC.Speaking of Geno...
First off, there is a very odd error in which Sephiroth was seemingly listed as Challenger Pack 6 instead of 8. It could be an honest to god mistake and nothing more, but this intrigues me since we just recently got that info from Imran that suggests multiple character delays.
More importantly, apparently Geno's Spirit Battle doesn't update from Sheik to Mii Gunner with the costume.
I'm too poor right now and don't have ANY of the DLC, so I need a favor from you guys here:
I need to know as this is very interesting.
- I know that the Cuphead Spirit Battle updated, but did the Min Min one update? What about Ninjara?
- Is it true that Geno's Spirit Battle hasn't been updated even though his costume is back?
HA! **** no!
I mean, he's not. Samus and Mega Man existed way earlier.Garret is cool too, I never realized he could be the progenitor of that gun arm aesthetic.
Oh yeah! More games should use...the worst part of that game and the entire reason it's regarded so poorly...Anyway yeah FF2 is super underappreciated for what it introduced to the franchise and also more games should use its leveling system
Reimu, Gordon Freeman, and Isaac would definitely be unexpected really interesting character picks. I'm not really a fan of/ interested in any of those characters or franchises though, so I wouldn't care for their inclusion much beyond the initial surprise.
Yes
Well I liked itOh yeah! More games should use...the worst part of that game and the entire reason it's regarded so poorly...
I can't think of much Dark Link would bring as an echo fighter that he doesn't have as an alt costume. Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't he have the exact same appearance and animations as before? With this new dark event going on, I feel now is the most appropriate time to say this:
Dark Link should be upgraded to an Echo Fighter, and the Black Tunic (without the dark skin and red eyes) from Melee should return.
Yes, that'll be four Links, but I don't care.
I also want Cosmic Mario and Dry Bowser as Echoes.
Embrace the darkness!
YEAH! WE DID IT!
Kunio and Riki are finally coming to the greatest cross-franchise party fighter!
Mighty Fight Federation...
No, not really. Gordon and Isaac would be cool though. I really don't care for Reimu.
