For all my Geno peeps, I really believe the best way we can get Nintendo's attention is through the Mii Costume at this point. I've seen people say they wouldn't buy it out of spite. I mean, you don't owe Nintendo 75 cents and you really don't have to buy it if you don't want to, but I'm just putting that out there. Official Geno content being sold...

Speaking of Geno...

First off, there is a very odd error in which Sephiroth was seemingly listed as Challenger Pack 6 instead of 8. It could be an honest to god mistake and nothing more, but this intrigues me since we just recently got that info from Imran that suggests multiple character delays.

More importantly, apparently Geno's Spirit Battle doesn't update from Sheik to Mii Gunner with the costume.

I'm too poor right now and don't have ANY of the DLC, so I need a favor from you guys here:
  1. I know that the Cuphead Spirit Battle updated, but did the Min Min one update? What about Ninjara?

  2. Is it true that Geno's Spirit Battle hasn't been updated even though his costume is back?
I need to know as this is very interesting.

Min Min didn't update, but a lot of them didn't in general. Bomberman's didn't update, etc. Cuphead is, afaik, the only Mii costume to do this, could be wrong but it's the only one I noticed.

The Cuphead update is kinda an anomaly where it's more or less one of the only ones that updated. To be honest, it seems more like that they just don't really care enough to go back and update them.

Edit: The Minecraft ones are also in, it really feels like it's just a "If they feel like it" thing.

I don’t believe either of the Arms ones were updated. I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure Ninjara is the same.

I forgot the update even came out today though so I haven’t bought the costume yet to inform you on the second one.

In terms of Geno’s viability going forward, if he was delayed somehow then at the earliest I feel we’d see him would be a potential FP3 and if not then maybe an Ultimate Deluxe in the next few years.

Edit: wait. Citation on the CP6 Sephiroth thing if you can.

I know there has been more updates to Spirit Battles than Cuphead, I just don't remember which ones.

EDIT: Just looked it up, Ninjara's did in fact get updated to be a Mii Brawler with his Mii Costume.

These are all the "Updated" Spirit battles:

All the Cuphead spirits
Creeper/Piglin Spirit
Ryo(SNK)
Ninjara(ARMs, was added in Min Min's update)

It's a bit silly to say they're "Updated" when it's basically just "We're adding a new spirit to the game, if you have the DLC it's a little different". Especially since none of these were added before the Mii costumes afaik.

I am pretty confident next smash will be a port (and hopefully everyone will play ball. Smash is good PR i feel. I mean look at how generous Konami was)
And it'd be foolish to not start up the DLC train next gen, imo. Smash does gangbusters and Nintendo'd be passing up a golden opportunity.

I wouldn't mind a Smash Ultimate port for next-gen Nintendo, the game is good enough as is, you don't need to change much for a good functional game, aside from your usual balancing and perhaps some new tweaks to game mechanics. Hell, they could even truly update WoL and Palutena's Guidance with DLC stuff. Put the trailers in the movies so it isn't just the four or five little snippits from WoL. Some slice of life stuff, y'know?

Better than to have people honestly believe they're going to reboot it after this. :191:

Yeah, I'm all in for port.

I dunno if they 'will', since at this point that's a ****ton of different hands in the pot all wanting a piece, but it'd be my preferred way going forward. Anything after Ultimate will 100% feel lesser if only due to the MASSIVE roster Ultimate has.

You think Dexit was bad? Wait for Cut Central.

So with Sephiroth in Smash what other Villains would you want to see?

The obvious answer for a lot of people is Eggman. And I agree. He could be a tank version of Bowser Jr but with attacks based on his past boss fights.
Metal Sonic for grabs like Toad and Peach, Wrecking Ball for down Smash, Egg Drill for Dash attack, Big Arm for a side Smash. Perhaps a Phantom Ruby Final Smash featuring Infinite and the Sonic Forces illusions of Shadow, Chaos, Metal and Zavok? Nah, the huge laser from ARK in Sonic Adventure 2 would be better.

As for others I could see a Street Fighter villain. Calamity Ganon, Hades, Tabuu or King Boo

I would say Xehanort but Sora isn't in Smash so, yeah lol

I think, for the SNK one, you mean Ryo Sakazaki from Art of Fighting. Not sure if you're mixing him up with Guy from Final Fight or Geese Howard from Fatal Fury. (or Rock Howard? IDK)

Aside from Eggman, I'd like to see Pious Augustus from Eternal Darkness, Porky from Earthbound, or Captain Syrup from Wario Land, even if they're long-shots. (there's also Heihachi, but I'm not familiar enough with Tekken to know whether he's the main villain or if it's Kazuya)

TBH I feel like if anyone would cause problems, It'd mostly be Square. But Sakurai is a miracle maker.

Cuts are all fun and games until you realize your main is gone and not all clones got the ax

Adding on, I'm going to assume that the Tifa, Barret and Aerith costumes are probably like this too, with 'maybe' the Chocobo one as well.

The main point is, only DLC spirits have ever been changed, they've never touched base-game ones, even when they add in Mii costumes that WOULD work, like Megaman X.

The only reason Nintendo is porting so many of their last gen games to the Switch is because the Wii U was a collossal failure. I don't think ports are all that likely otherwise. Especially something like Smash. If Nintendo has a new console with more power, they're going to want a new Smash to show that off.

Yeah, but people gonna feel hella 'whelmed when we go from "EVERYONE IS HERE!" to "Well, a couple are here."

I'd like a port of Ultimate going forward, but I don't expect it.

An Ultimate port could be nice...if they actually add some real nice content to it, and actually fix some of the games' issues cough online cough

Basically I'd be down with an Ultimate port if they actually do much MUCH more with it than say, Nintendo did with the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe port on Switch.

Otherwise, if it's mostly just Ultimate, with not that much added/changed, but just on a different system, that just seems kind of...boring?

I'd honestly prefer an entirely new Smash game to a "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" equivalent of Ultimate.

That's why so many people expect a reboot. Another normal Smash Bros game but with less characters is going to seem awful after we had Ultimate.

So they can't just make another normal Smash game.

So, they usually have them like that when there’s a DLC Spirit board then it seems? Makes sense I guess. Cuphead is the only outlier then from that viewpoint.

Yeah, I’m of the same mindset. It’d be foolish to start all the way over in my opinion. So a Deluxe port, with added stages and characters hopefully, and DLC for another Gen is how I would prefer it.

Geno thread got shut down? For good?

View attachment 296860

Goddamn, they really weren't ****ing around this time. Didn't even know the Waluigi thread got hit before I brought it back.
Apparently there was an overly complicated history that led to three Waluigi threads over the course of Ultimate's speculation. I'm sure there's someone else who can fill you in on the details better than I could.

I'd say a Ganon/Ganondorf/Demise with a non-Falcondorf moveset, Porky Minch, and Eggman.

But I mean, the reboot will also have less characters because I'd be hard pressed to expect a reboot to have 80~somethin, including all the massive 3rd parties.

At the end of the day, Ultimate's backed itself into a corner going forward. Either you somehow port it and maybe add in new content every soo often, or you reboot it and make people who fell in love with the sheer spectacle of Ultimate pissed.

Well, they could definitely still make a "normal" Smash game, and let's be real, it'd probably still sell pretty damn well.

And while there would be disappointment over cuts, assuming there's a decent amount, I honestly think there could still be some excitement over such a game's roster, if said game still managed to get some great/hype character inclusions (that don't end up in ultimate), had some gameplay improvements whether it be from a mechanical standpoint or online standpoint, add a story mode with actual story and character interactions, and hell, if things aren't AS bad on the cuts front as people think (ie not as many characters get cut as people think or a large amount of the more popular characters are still intact), then I think people could still be pretty damn into a Smash 6.

I don't know, I just don't think the idea of an entirely new Smash game is really as doom and gloom as people make it out to be.

I mean, that's not to say that it couldn't end up being lame and disappointing compared to Ultimate or even other Smash games, it very well could, I just don't think it is some 100% guaranteed thing.

I still say the best way to lessen the sting of having like a third of the roster be cut is to make it some kind of themed roster. Super Smash Villains is my frontrunner on that. I mean, yeah, your main was probably cut, but it ain't personal: it's Super Smash Villains. Anyone cut wasn't even eligible to return in the first place. Mario isn't even here.

A game is more than it's roster. If Smash presents us with a new experience, then the roster downsize won't matter as much. The only reason people are so obsessed with the roster is because that's the only thing to be excited about. Sure they can add some new modes and such. But all in all... We've been playing the same game for 20 years. The mechanics have changed. The speed. The feel. But it's still in the shadow of Melee. The moves, the abilities, the stage layouts. Not much has changed. So the most exciting thing for each new instalment is the fighters.

But, if we rediscover Smash in exciting new ways then there more to be excited about than the roster.

Ninjara is a slightly different case as he was a summonable spirit in the base game and thus never had a spirit battle attached to him. Only when he was included with Min Min's board did they give him a spirit battle, which was of course the same time they added the costume. There never really was a previous battle to update.

i think maybe if they had a few of the big asks like geno, dixie, isaac, krystal and skull kid it might be popular with smash fans but i def think it'd be less appealing to the masses

Anyways, as for the FFVII update, I wish they used a white King DDD alt and tiny Incineroar alt for Cait Sith.

I can atleast see what they were going with using small Game & Watches. His hammer is like a slot machine and Cait Sith has a slot machine limit Break. DOn't really see why they used Roy (the Koopaling) though...
