"Pokemon" involves the franchise's Totally Radical™ 90s logo, while everything else invokes soft 2010s/20s logo aesthetics. Compare the original game, where "Snap" is just as radical as Pokemon.

I'm not too familiar with Shantae, as I only ever played one of her games on the GBA. I'm pretty sure Burning Town is her most recognizable music though, so I'd be shocked if that didn't come with her.

Out of the newcomers who do you guys think have had the best trailer so far?

Ridley.
My most wanted (first party) fighter since 2002, whom I had completely given up on after being let down two games in a row, finally revealed as a fighter (in his classic Super Metroid form rather than his awful Other M redesign) in a gloriously epic trailer following a masterfully suspenseful buildup, immediately after the Everyone is Here E3 presentation?
Nothing has topped that for me.

Banjo & Kazooie (my most wanted third party since the N64 days) come very close, but their trailer, while hilarious and awesome, loses points for reusing the same fake out gag as the K. Rool trailer.
I was initially more hyped by their reveal than Ridley's, but after multiple viewings, I'd say Ridley has the overall better trailer.

Minecraft comes in third because it felt great to be vindicated after predicting Steve for so long, and the trailer was genuinely funny.

I don't know a ton about Shantae, but I do know her music slaps and a female indie character would be great. Either her or Hornet would be my pick for that role

Neat as she is, Hornet isn't even the most likely character from her own franchise. The Hollow Knight Rep would be the Knight, period. I agree Shantae is adorable though, and would fit into Smash pretty well. Ultimate has given a very surprising amount of love to indie games, considering we got Shovel Knight, Sans, and Cuphead in the game in their own way. Quote, the Knight, and Shantae definitely seem like they'd be coming next.

While I agree, Hornet's just way too cool. She's almost like a cross between the Attack on Titan guys and Final Fantasy dragoons. I couldn't be upset if she managed to happen first even if I wanted to be.

Going to concur with Ridley, since that was a legitimate shock as well as a really well-animated trailer. It got extra points for causing people to wonder just how insane Ridley's toolkit would be. Now I do think he should've been a tad heavier, but if I continued listing things I wish were the case I could go on all day really. With every single character in the roster. Edit: Yes, most of those things are nitpicks, and there are very few severe issues - none totally gamebreaking. It speaks to how well-designed the roster is overall.

Sephiroth's comes second for similar reasons.

Nicalis would (almost assuredly) never ghost Nintendo of all companies. That would be like signing their own death warrant - not just because of Nintendo's ninja army, but also since that if discovered would be an extreme PR blow in itself. Not to mention just how - directly or indirectly - a DLC spot for Smash would be.

It's still a Switch exclusive, and one that's been promoted pretty heavily. Though, I believe the Capcom gigaleak noted that it'll be getting a Steam port so it's only be a timed exclusive.
