I don't think we'll get another guessing game as with Min Min I think it was moreso the circumstances that forced it (covid + more development needed for her) rather than being a deliberate choice, which was better than having no news at all for six months. At least that's my interpretation of it.

I do think the final reveal is imminent (like, the next Direct), but the actual presentation for it could and likely will be scheduled for later, with actual release after that, could leak over to October.

If the character gets revealed in the Direct, at most we'd be waiting like, 2 weeks for the Mr.Sakurai presents, and then released the following week worst case scenario.

This is the last character that will be coming to smash for likely a long time and it's for the end of arguably the most monumental game in general in the smash series since 64 or maybe Brawl and honestly the most monumental crossover game in general. IDK, I don't think they're just gonna announce it in a Nintendo direct, I think they'll want it to have a bit more fanfare. It's not gonna be a final presentation like Smash 4, but more like Byleth, as Sakurai confirmed that Nintendo don't like spending much money on directs for DLC, which is why the showcases exist. Granted, if it meant they just get straight to the point and announce it then I'd indisputably prefer that, but I doubt it TBH.

a lot have given up on him due to the activision stuff but I feel a lot have also probably given up hope on getting 2 western reps in 1 pass.

It would be amusing to see a potentially earth-shattering reveal treated matter-of-factly in the Direct.

Part of it is that the second pass has had no new third party companies, and there's likely an assumption that if there will be a new one for the last character, It's not as likely to be a Western one with no particularly outstanding history with Nintendo or having a character on the level of Steve that's considered a must have.

A combination of the notion of Crash being an "E3 or bust" kind of deal and the Activision Blizzard scandel going on.

And hey, if Crash ever did get into Smash, Nintendo would credit either Naughty Dog, - Crash's creators - or Vicarious Visions - who made every Crash GBA game and were responsible for giving Crash two canon timelines (both the Wrath of Cortex timeline & the It's About Time timeline are canon, there's no point arguing. If you do, I will direct you to the list of Crash: It's About Time's easter eggs).

What now? Why would Nintendo credit Naughty Dog when they have zero ownership of the Crash IP?

If Crash gets in we are absolutely going to see Activision Publishing, Inc added to the copyrights lol

I guess you have no idea what they did to CTR Nitro Fueled after the game got so much positive reviews.

I'd rather see a Street Fighter game focusing on Sakura & Dark Sakura (as two separate entities, both of them good people) more than another MvC game at this point. We all know what Infinite did to the series...

It's literally just because people are super fixated on Sakurai saying the last character is "gonna take awhile".

Unless they pull some powdered toast man bs like in NASB and pick some random mook to represent fortnite, literally all the skins are cosmetic at most aren't they? So even if they picked some ridiculous skin instead of Jonesy, they'd all amount to the same thing. If anyone plays fortnite here, are there any actual differences with the skins? Like, any at all?

I know what they didn't do. Magically give the rights to Crash to someone else.



Oh, and I beat No More Heroes III, Travis may have deserved more, but the Mii costume and Spirits were an absolute treat

We like talking about characters but not about how they play. It's a known fact that we, Smash fans, talk about who is next but we don't actually play the game.
I actually have been bluffing my way through this thread for three years despite never buying Ultimate, nor Smash for Wii U or 3DS.

Yeah, honestly this is pretty much exactly how I feel.
I don't like Pokémon Sword and Shield and a Pokémon from there wouldn't be how I want Ultimate to end, but I can't deny that the new Pokémon are one of its few saving grace and there are some that would make for really cool fighters and even some that would make me happy.
But the starters can go **** right off

I don't hate the starters that much, but they are really not that original compared to what we already got as starters previously, and since Smash has half of its Pokemon roster being starters, arguably six if you count Pikachu, I'd like someone original. Heck, Dubwool would be an extremely funny and cool final character in my opinion which would be out of the box like Piranha Plant.

For me Pokemon suffered the same issue as Fire Emblem; both series have mutliple games with big casts of different characters with interesting movepools for a game like Smash, yet most of the time they go for a starter in the case of Pokemon, or the Lord using a sword for Fire Emblem.
