So now that we 100% know the last character is this Nahobino guy, can I close this thread down? Discussing the potential character further would be fruitless since, by what you say, it’s a done and locked deal.
Thread is closing in T-minus 10 seconds. Thanks everyone for a great speculation period. Seems rather ridiculous to discuss further speculation knowing he’s all but confirmed.
Since every character thus far has had their background color taken from their pallet (not always their default pallet, but always one that's derived from cannon), this actually does disconfirm everyone who does not have a repetitively strong shade of purple (EDIT: so nothing like lilac or lavender; has to be darker than that). This is of course, assuming that it's not just a placeholder and will be different when the character drops.
So to sort of fill the dots, Nei absolutely fits the Orchid Purple thoery and Alis Landale can fit it too. In Nei's case,
She practically embodies the color purple and even the color of her outfit is very close to the specific Orchid Purple color. But as you can probably guess, her design reeks of the 80s/90s and is quite NSFW.
In Alis Landale's case, she doesn't quite embody purple compared to Nei, but she has been depicted with purple armor.
Her armor tends to differentiate between purple and dark blue, but a purple background would fit for Alis.
Assuming purple is the color, the Avatar character from PSO2 and Matoi would be rather unlikely, as I'm certain the Avatar character would use Blue since it's practically everywhere in PSO and PSO2. In Matoi's case, she would be more akin to Red/Pink then Purple.

Actually, the background colors sometimes are ones that are barely on the person.
Only requirement, for this color to work overall, is they have purple anywhere on their body. Apparently "moves they do" wouldn't apply. So it could be very subtle too. Doesn't have to be a dominant color.
Wait I've spent time replaying Touhou Luna Nights which y'all should play as it's a real fun Metroidvania with chronokinesis, what the hell happened in a few hours time

Nahobino, you were the chosen one. You were supposed to save smash, not destroy it! Bring balance to the tiers and deal with Dharkon. You were my brother, Nahobino! I loved you!

It looks like I spaced and didn't finish the sentence. What I meant to say was that they needed to have a relatively strong shade of purple on their pallet.
But yes, it doesn't have to be their dominant color nor does it have to be a color that is on what would be their default costume; it just has to be somewhere on an existing design that would likely be in the game.
