Just for reference, this isn't even the most ridiculous example of robot-ception in the Xeno seriesThey're a giant robot piloted by a remote controlled robot controlled by another robot.

For me what hurts Contra the most is that beside his legacy, the franchise is really dead. They try to revive it in 2019, but it was a huge failure. Ninja gaiden is dormant, there's a lot of rumor that it will come back. Hayabusa also appear in the Dead or alive series and in some warriors game too.So I want to ask a question that has been bothering me for quite some time. Why doesn't Contra get a lot of attention in speculation?
People always bring up Hayabusa as the last NES icon remaining but Contra has most of the same merits. It's an iconic NES game known for its difficulty, it got plenty of sequels with some of them on Nintendo systems, it got featured on the NES and SNES Classic consoles, and continued to get games including on Switch. Konami could definitely get a character in this pass and his only real threat is Alucard. So how come we don't talk about Bill Rizer like we do with Hayabusa? My only assumption is that it has to do with Tecmo: The fact that they don't have a rep yet and Hayabusa being their de facto frontrunner.
Right now I have ideas flowing around in my head for a Contra article. I want to convince people that Bill Rizer has a good shot at making it into this game. I think he is really underrated in speculation.
No joke question, what's the difference between "dormant" and "dead"For me what hurts Contra the most is that beside his legacy, the franchise is really dead. One comes back I guess. Not really a helpful term since there's no telling which is which. No joke question, what's the difference between "dormant" and "dead"
Yeah, sort of. There's an arms race of graphical fidelity with realistic games, a stampede on who can make their back catalogue look as outdated as fast as possible, while games that place greater emphasis on a different artstyle aren't usually remarked on for their graphical prowess, or at least aren't held to the same standards.I suspect that part of why this is a big thing is that "realism" is often confused with "good graphics" in the west (either especially, or maybe just in America) since how realistic things look is usually the selling point rather than how good it looks.
There's them. You know what Smash really needs though, more robots, there's only ROB and Megaman, where are the robots and mechs and cyborgs and all that good stuff
Yes and no. Yes, the console one was a failure. But then there is the mobile game by Tencent that is apparently very big and successful in China. Which is probably part of why there was a Panda character in the recent Contra game. For me what hurts Contra the most is that beside his legacy, the franchise is really dead. They try to revive it in 2019, but it was a huge failure.
For me a dormant franchise is a franchise that has no game for some time, but could come back eventually. I consider Ninja gaiden being more dormant because of the rumor that it will come back. Contra I consider it dead because after the failure of Contra 2019, I really don't think this franchise will ever come back, Also like I said, Ninja gaiden is living a little bit through Dead or alive and some Warriors game, which show that Koei didn't forgot about the franchise. No joke question, what's the difference between "dormant" and "dead"
Good Rune Factory 5 and Disgaea 6There isn't really anything I want to say about this in regards to Smash, but earlier today, I saw this image of the latest Famitsu cover VIA twitter.
I don't know Japanese at all nor do I know who all the characters are on it, but they all are certainly from upcoming games for this year. It is surprising to see Master Chief on this thoe.
Yes but even if the rumor is true and it does come back there's no guarantee it will fare any better than Contra. Does it go back to being dormant or does it get demoted to dead then? I guess what I'm trying to get at is that it's not a very meaningful distinction in the world of videogames.
Absolutely! Lots of humans, aliens, animals, but only two playable robot characters. I don`t know, it just feels wrong. Unfortunately, I can`t think of many robots/cyborgs/mechs that are likely for Smash. I know there were some rumors about Kos-Mos last year, but idk how likely any of that is anymore. Other than that nothing I can think of.You know what Smash really needs though, more robots, there's only ROB and Megaman, where are the robots and mechs and cyborgs and all that good stuff

My favorite Sony franchises are: LocoRoco, Patapon and Gravity Rush.Truth be told I’d rather have Sony Japan back. Ape Escape was my **** and it makes me sad we’ll never see that make a comeback. Creativity over cinematic, I say
lowkey convinced they should sell their Japanese IPs to other companies
I still think Rhythm Heaven and Style Savvy are likely as well, there is almost no way we don't get new games in the franchise. So in terms of most likely 1st party reps. Guess it's down to a Gen 8 Pokemon and Rex I guess.
Nintendo owns the characters in the Hyrule Warriors games I believe, much like with Disney owning the KH property even though SE develops it.Honestly I'm just wondering if this is technically Koei Tecmo content or not, lmao.
It's nice to have some sort of development, it feels like it's been forever since we've got like... a substantial spirit event / disconfirmation independent from a new fighter. Shame for Impa and probably a new Zelda character in general but I wasn't counting on it as is.
Repeat after me:I honestly never thought we'd get a HW version of Impa either way. Though I'm pretty sure this is her proper BOTW design too? But I forget if that's specific to Age of Calamity or not. I only honestly think we ever had a chance of one of her canon designs if anything.
Doesn't mean BOTW sequel is out, but Age of Calamity is dead. Though I do wish we had some spirits from the other HW stuff, including one for Lana and the unique take on Ganon(along with the first fully 3D Manhandla).
I'm still waiting for that Luigi's Mansion spirit event though. XD
RH doesn't seem to be a priority for Nintendo at the moment, though. The creator of it last year begged fans to show interest for a Switch installment, which doesn't sound very encouraging.I still think Rhythm Heaven and Style Savvy are likely as well, there is almost no way we don't get new games in the franchise.
also a job listing for Girls Mode (the Japanese name of style savvy) appeared a while back so expect a new Style Savvy this year.
Resident Evil, Ring Fit, Astral Chain, and Paper Mario: Join us AOC.Oh **** RIP

Rhythm heaven will probably be a 2022 or 2023 title, it will come, Tsunku himself had to get his vocal chords removed after the last game due to cancer i believe.RH doesn't seem to be a priority for Nintendo at the moment, though. I hate how true that is lmaothey're the best Shield Hammer in the game (meaning they're just OK)
Who is Jack and why do we care about his Beyblade?Damn it people
Nope. Impa's an old lady in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Unless she gets some sort of age reducer thingy, she's not going to be in a fighting fit form, which means that she's probably not getting in this time around.I honestly never thought we'd get a HW version of Impa either way. Though I'm pretty sure this is her proper BOTW design too? But I forget if that's specific to Age of Calamity or not. I honestly think part of the issue is that characters like Mario and Luigi - who most competitively inclined people would classify as at least leaning towards a grappling playstyle due to the potential reward from grabs - would leave most other people wondering "Why would they be considered grapplers?!" Part of it is the disconnect between the competitive and casual playerbases, part of it might be that Nintendo really doesn't communicate often about what kind of niche a character fits into. It's often once - perhaps in a trophy text, Sakurai Presents for the DLC characters or whatever - and never really again.Super Smash Bros.'s grapplers are kinda weird. We have about 10 of them, but I'm sure most people would argue that we only have 1 or 2 pure grapplers, as Donkey Kong and Bowser are really the only one with a grab as thier win conditions, albeit not their only ones. It's probably why they're usually refered to as super heavyweights instead. They also tend to have really wonky balancing across their movesets, like with King Dedede, Bowser Jr., and Ridley having odd cohesion issues, and King K. Rool having a few moves that are weirdly undertuned.
We've seen what DLC zoners and balanced characters can do, so it would be interesting to see a DLC rush-down and grappler would be like.
Aaaand, so long, AoC and BotW2 (Yeah, believing this de-confirms BotW2 because a BotW would've likely used some characters that are in AoC as Spirits and vice versa).Oh **** RIP

Really? Seeing as this is BOTW-related content, I see it more asZelda fans after hearing about the new spirit event:
